Sometimes there is a fine line between vanity and having a pathological view of oneself, such as with body dysmorphic issues, such as a person who sees themselves as blubbery when there is only loose flesh and not an ounce of fat on them.

So are you saying that these folks who appear on Embarrassing Bodies are without decorum, or are you referring to other situations. In terms of medical need, I understand this program deals only with real medical issues that really can't be left much longer.

I wondered if anyone here would be brave enough to have their medical condition exposed for an international TV audience.

Last week I had to have a injection into the tendon in my right groin, (I felt like an elite athlete) with a local shoved in for good measure....The young male technician getting the ultrasound ready for the specialist came in, apologised profusely the moment I walked in the door, for the undignified position I was shortly to be in....I reassured him it was OK, as I had watched Embarrassing Bodies the night before

That's what the hosts say at the beginning of a UK TV program called 'Embarrassing Bodies?

I tuned in last night taking a break from some work. Next thing you know some meek and mild guy has his butt to the camera and the viewer gets an eye full of his golf ball sized piles.

One young woman had longstanding vaginal pain from a past episiotomy, next thing her labia flashes across the screen in all its glory.

A group of women then stripped topless for a lesson in breast exam by this not so bad looking tall blonde male doctor...and so it went on.

Such brave folks out there!! Yes, we're all the same and I'm no prude, am comfortable about my own skin yadda, yadda. But do what these folks did, hmmmm, not sure.

Just wondered what your opinion might be and what you think you might do, given the chance to have free(expensive) treatment for something up to now, intractable.

Alison DuBois has written tons on the subject. She is the real life medium on which the TV series is based, Medium'. She has been the subject of close scientific scrutiny with double blind studies conducted at a major U.S. university with results published in detail. She came out squeaky clean as to being the real deal.

When selecting a new house or new car, most people would insist that these precious items pass some kind of rigorous 99 question test.

While we can't compare objects to people, way too many of us throw out such due diligence when it comes to selecting a partner. Why is that?

On my first visit to the U.S. was in '96. I headed straight for New York, something I had wanted to do for years. Gotta say that the first night seeing Broadway during one of their worst garbage strikes, was a rude awakening!

But that soon disappeared. Love NY. I returned in '99.
Still use the cookie cutters and apron, plus baby loaf tins, all from Zabars on Broadway.

The American people voted for Mr Obama. Those who got off their backsides, that is, as I understand it is unconstitutional to force anyone to vote. So it seems that your constitution supports apathy. Your forefathers wanted it that way and modern America continues to like it that way. So stop complaining and maybe help your fellow Americans do something constructive....How does it go now..?

For decades, what happens with your business, affects the business of many other countries across the globe. Some in a down turn way..I'm thinking Vietnam War, Iraq war, to name a couple of small global events.. ...oh, and the banking debacle, remember that?
