RE: The upcoming Census ......

And that also depends on which spot, where and when...is it this spot, or that one? Is it here or is it there?...it does make a difference you know...the difference being set either at the .05, .01, or possibly even the .10 level of confidence.

If you think I am making absolutely no sense at all, you are so right...99.9999% right.peace

RE: The upcoming Census ......

I loathe the Census form. Statistics are only useful if you can use them for perverse means.laugh

RE: Do you believe the story of Adam & Eve?

I was shocked when one day in early high school, during the 'religious instruction' class, the Catholic nun taking the class suddenly spouted forth that of-course the story of Adam and Even isn't really true. That it was just a story, they were not real people. Talk about shattering a young girl's world!laugh

RE: only spammers around?

One even recently completed my compatibility quizz which I devised ages ago and had forgotten about until recently...He even wrote to me offering to send me his photo if I would only first give him my email address. Maybe we should give them an alias for the internet police.idea elephant

RE: The Long Goodbye: The Never-Ending Virtual Romantic Relationship

Yes, of-course it is all relative. But.....that doesn't diminish the absurdity of it all(for me) laugh...

Naturally, wouldn't it be the best thing if we could fall in love with just the 'right' person, who lives only minutes away. Strangely enough, I have met men locally, but not one has taken my interest beyond the week, and that was pushing it!!!!laugh ...

So I think I'm either destined to be single the rest of my life and that's fine if it turns out that way, or he will most likely come from across the oceans, whizzing up into the starry galaxy, jump over the moon...help

Ah, yes...hit the beach volleyball circuit when you get here and you might remain for a long while in oz!!!

RE: The Long Goodbye: The Never-Ending Virtual Romantic Relationship

Try living in Australia, J.....Many people still treat it as the end of the earth!!doh.....though Aussies think nothing of doing the long haul trips to the other side of the world(not to mention pay huge dollars!) just so we can savour different cultures and meet wonderful new people....This will be my third trip in 12mths coming up shortly...so when I hear people complaining about 2hr drives to go see someone...jeez, sure thing, that's really a killer!!!uh oh

Bigger picture, Merriwweather...bigger picture.

RE: Do you think that sending child refugees who are unaccompanied

p.s. not sure what is confusing for you. Maybe need to have more facts? ...and all the more reason why children should not be sent on these dangerous journeys on overloaded boats on the high seas!!!

Why the heck people want to encourage this is beyond me.

What angry adults, btw??

Bye for now.wave

RE: Do you think that sending child refugees who are unaccompanied

I don't think I can say anymore, other than to say that it's important to look at the bigger picture, which has been stated. The Foreign Minister was interviewed this morning by a panel headed by Paul Bongiorno. You seem to have missed it. I like to tune in on Sunday mornings, a bit strange like that...

He clarified their questions more than satisfactorily to the whole panel, which is an unusual achievement by any Minister. In this case, clearly current government policy needs to go beyond bowing to emotional forces, which is what the people smugglers play on.
See how well it is working with yourself? Exactly what they are after.

Of-course stories of young children being sent back pull at heart strings. But they will be kept safe. They are not being thrown to the wolves, which is akin to what their parents did when they put them on a rickety boat at the mercy of the oceans and pirates! Anyway, I have no more to add. I feel like I am flogging a dead horse....laugh ...besides I should be working!!doh

RE: Do you think that sending child refugees who are unaccompanied

I understand that once returned to Malaysia, their refugee status will be processed and considered from there. If they are deemed to be true refugees, then they are accepted into Australia, including the children, whoc in the meantime, are being given safe haven, and basic medical and education services.
