"Although to my knowledge he has never directly worked for Goldman, he has taken boatloads of their money (an investment repaid many times) and he calls Robert Rubin, the former head of Goldman Sachs "my friend Bob". (See the video clip of then Senator Barack Obama’s address to the Goldman-Rubin funded Hamilton Project in a link below where he uses these words and calls for cuts in entitlements and more NAFTA-type agreements).
Jesse Unruh, the late California politician and political thinker, once called "money the mother’s milk of politics." Certainly, Obama sucked at the teats of Goldman Sachs more than any other politician in recent times. It began for him as little-known Senator from Illinois with a razor- thin resume whose ambitions outshine his accomplishments. Obama’s eloquent, heavily prepped address to the Democratic National Convention caught not only the eyes of the Democratic top brass, but that of the big bankers. As early as the Spring of 2006, Senator Barack Obama was intimately involved with Bob Rubin and Goldman Sachs through his involvement with the Hamilton Project.
Fittingly, Senator Obama was chosen by Rubin and the Hamilton Project to give the inaugural address of the Hamilton Project in April, 2006. An excellent, seminal discussion of the Hamilton Project by Dr. Kirk James Murphy, M.D., can be found here. A video clip of then Senator Barack Obama speaking at the inauguration of the Hamilton Project in April, 2006 can be found here and here (with an excellent discussion) and here. Here Obama heaps lavish praise on Robert Rubin ("my friend Bob") and on the Hamilton Project while setting out its (and his subsequent administration’s agenda) of cuts in entitlements, the need for more NAFTA-type free trade pacts and a pro-big corporation government. In 2006 then, Obama was a Goldie and articulating its desires and policies.
Little wonder then, that Goldman and Rubin heavily funded Obama as a Senator (his biggest campaign contributor) and as a presidential candidate. Goldman Sachs employees (and they were not the floor cleaners) contributed $994,795 to Obama’s presidential bid, almost four times the amount they gave to his Republican opponent, according to OpenSecrets. Over Obama’s entire career, Goldman has been his second biggest contributor, according to OpenSecrets, giving him more than $1,051,000. Goldman not only wanted Obama to win, they paid lots of money to insure that their man would occupy the White House. Again, as William Black noted:
"The highest return on assets is always a political contribution."
Goldman’s 30 pieces of silver investment in Obama reaped them billions of dollars in returns as the TARP bailouts and the subsequent news about Goldman Sachs has shown. So although Obama may never have "worked for" Goldman in the traditional sense, he’s one of Robert Rubin’s boys and on Goldman’s books.
University of Minnesota political scientist Prof. Lawrence Jacobs, described the giant squid’s attachment to the Obama administration:
almost everything that the White House has done has been haunted by the personnel and the money of Goldman . . . as well as the suspicion that the White House, particularly early on, was pulling its punches out of deference to Goldman and its war chest.
Good news for Republicans: Early voting in Colorado was R+2

#Colorado Sec of State reports that Republicans have edge over Dems in early voting. bit.ly/Ql20RP
More than half the voters in Colorado had already submitted their ballots prior to today. Here are the early-vote ballot counts as of 10:10 am MT, according to Colorado’s Secretary of State:
Democrats: 653,450 (34%)
Republicans: 688,303 (36%)
Unaffiliated: 547,437 (29%)
A very good sign for Republicans, who usually perform better on Election Day than in early voting.
Obama Internal Poll Has Campaign Worried: Tied in Michigan
"The Obama campaign’s internal polling data — their final polling data — has them “for the first time worried,” a Democratic source familiar with the campaign tells Newsmax.
“They are going like YIKES! after they saw the Michigan numbers this morning,” the source said.
The Obama poll finds Michigan tied, which has the Obama camp “scratching their heads.”
Here’s the rundown of the Obama internals:
Michigan TIED Pennsylvania Obama +3: “Not a good sign, Obama was leading there by 10 points two weeks ago and Romney is rallying voters there today.” Ohio Obama +2: “Romney is definitely closing the gap.” Virginia Obama +2: “They feel they have it, Obama wins Virginia.” Colorado Obama +3 New Hampshire TIED Florida “They’ve conceded it to Romney.” “This is really not good, things are not trending their way,” the source said.
Romney 49%, Obama 48% in Gallup's Final Election Survey
Early voting so far breaks 49% for Obama and 48% for Romney
by the Gallup Editors
PRINCETON, NJ -- President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are within one percentage point of each other in Gallup's final pre-election survey of likely voters, with Romney holding 49% of the vote, and Obama 48%. After removing the 3% of undecided voters from the results and allocating their support proportionally to the two major candidates, Gallup's final allocated estimate of the race is 50% for Romney and 49% for Obama.
OK sooooo... let's make this betting a little more interesting and vote on electoral votes (totally pie-in-the-sky since nobody knows - but what the heck!)
I know...and it's been this way for four years now. If this had been a Rep who did the things Obama has done, the press would have skewered him to the wall...but Obama gets caught cheating and lying over and over and they swiftly sweep it all under the rug.
I have a feeling your poll is not going to be accurate because there is no way to eliminate the international vote, which is heavily skewed to Obama. Nothing you can do about that, that I know of...
It's true. They are covering it live. The dem election officials in some polling locations also kicked out some 60 or 70 appointed republican poll watchers... but the judge re-instated them fairly quickly.
Geeze these threads are moving fast today! I almost didn't see your post.
To be sure there were lots of people claiming that with the Bush election and the saga of the hanging chads, but the issue was run through court system and found lacking. Honestly, I don't think any of us will ever know that for sure...
But to the best of my knowledge, Reps have never stooped to voter intimidation or kicking court-appointed poll watchers out of polling stations.
This is more in keeping with the "Chicago-style" politics.
I don't think so, Life. One party has the full power of the presidency and all the perks that go with it, whereas the other only has it's election team.
Furthermore, Obama never closed his campaign headquarters in Ohio, for example, they they have been registering people and campaigning for four years, whereas Romney only had the nomination for a couple of months...
I totally agree - but there are some "logical" things that can be done which would help. I hope we see them happen soon, or we are in for a world of trouble.
Not many alligators where I live, but bears, coyotes, bobcats nd SNAKES! At the risk of high-jacking your thread even more...all the more reason to keep a gun around the barn.
back to election delays and lawsuits for a minute... It looks like another one just cropped up. We may never know who wins!
Allegation of unions putting illegal immigrants on voter rolls clouds Nevada voting
by Dan Springer | November 05, 2012 Print Email Share Share 1 Comments
Just hours before voters go to the polls in the battleground state of Nevada, a national group has announced it plans to file a complaint regarding illegal immigrants purportedly being allowed to vote.
ALIPAC, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, based in Raleigh, N.C., sent the Nevada secretary of state an email outlining its intention.
"We want to stop the felonious thefts of American elections," says William Gheen, ALIPAC's president.
Gheen points to a commentary published in Sunday's Las Vegas Review Journal. In it, editorial writer Glenn Cook accuses the Culinary Union 226 of knowingly registering illegal immigrants and then pressured them to vote.
Cook quotes an unidentified illegal immigrant who is on the Clark County voter rolls. The person claims a union representative told them they were "in so much trouble" for refusing to vote.
Catherine Lu, a spokesperson for Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, said she could not comment on Cook's editorial or ALIPAC's official complaint.
Gheen says his group wants all non U.S. citizens removed from the voter rolls before Tuesday's election. He suggested the state could use Homeland Security databases such as E-verify to do the job.
The voter in Nevada for president figures to be close. A compilation of the final polls shows President Obama with a 2.8 percent lead among likely voters. But political insiders give Obama a slightly more comfortable edge in large part because of the expected Hispanic vote.
In the last two elections, Hispanics made up 15 percent of the electorate and voted overwhelmingly for Democrats.
Gheen says Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, would have been ousted in 2010 if not for illegal immigrants voting. A complaint by loser Sharon Angle did not overturn the results.
Absolutely. I went through something similar when I was targeted by an "Obituary Scammer" after my husband's death. I tried calling every bank to but a hold on the accounts but could do nothing until I had a death certificate, which takes a couple of weeks. This is how the scammer scams... they know that so they take the info from the obituary and file for credit, etc.
Anyway, in desperation I finally called social security to see what THEY could do..... And they already knew everything!!!
Personally, I think we were all more intellectually challenged when RoadRunner was bashing the crap out of Wile-E-Coyote. And B-Bunny was outsmarting Elmer Fudd.
Barney, Blues Clues and Sesame Street were the beginning of the end...
"...Schools in your country are a joke to the reat of the world as you are denied knowledge to so many things in your own history, never mind the rest of the world. Find a copy and take off the State imposed blinders. If you don't like the truth, you can put them again and go into denial. A nice, comfortable if dull way to live your life..."
And you are just a hateful little man to post such crap to someone you have never even talked to.
And since you brought this up with your less-than-considerate commentary on our education system, let me just add that there is PLENTY of room to go around on this subject. One look at the numerous international comments regarding our current national events (Obamacare, etc.) shows a huge, gaping flaw in the accuracy of information you are getting over there.
"Despite having been repeatedly discredited since its first appearance, the "prophecy" has proved a remarkably durable canard. It has appeared most recently as a popular internet hoax promulgated on Usenet groups and antisemitic websites, where it is presented as authentic. On February 18, 1998, a member of the Fatah Central Committee revived this myth and mistakenly referred to Franklin as a former President of the United States. Osama Bin Laden used this canard briefly in his October 2002 "Letter to the American People". While its author is not known, many who have investigated the "prophecy" suspect Pelley of having penned it himself.
The U.S. Congress report Anti-Semitism in Europe: Hearing Before the Subcommittee on European Affairs of the Committee on Foreign Relations (2004) states:
The Franklin "Prophecy" is a classic anti-Semitic canard that falsely claims that American statesman Benjamin Franklin made anti-Jewish statements during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. It has found widening acceptance in Muslim and Arab media, where it has been used to criticize Israel and Jews...
Franklin was a friend to the Jews of 18th-century America, and contributed toward the building of Philadelphia's first permanent synagogue.
Similar false antisemitic quotations have been attributed to George Washington and have been debunked. In 1790, in a marked sign of religious tolerance, Washington sent a letter to the Jewish community in Rhode Island, writing "May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while every one shall sit under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.""
