RE: The Top 5 Most Ridiculous Gov’t Expenses Found in This Year’s ‘Wastebook’

I agree about the states, cities, towns and counties. I think generally most people feel they all do an excellent job. I know I would much PREFER they handle MORE of the spending responsibilities. And that's really been Romney's point as well - take things out of the Federal Government's hands since it is much too big and out-of-touch to spend wisely - and put it into the hands of the states who have a better "boots on the ground" record of spending. You cannot legislate with a broad brush!

But back to your grievance, did someone say something to imply otherwise? wave

RE: The Top 5 Most Ridiculous Gov’t Expenses Found in This Year’s ‘Wastebook’

I may have missed something here? Did someone say something specifically about public servants vs. politicians? (serious question...)

It seems to me the problem lies with both houses of congress since they are the ones who dole out the dollars which usually go to their own state's pet projects???

Where did we go off the rails? dunno

Mor typos. Ugh. Sorry.

RE: The Top 5 Most Ridiculous Gov’t Expenses Found in This Year’s ‘Wastebook’

What we have seen under Obama is the single largest wealth transfer in American history - from our pockets to either big government, foreign countries, corporations or banks. Trillions of dollars of tax payer debt and yet NO jobs. The end result is more debt and less household income, higher consumer costs, higher premiums - and NO JOBS.

What Romney is proposing first and foremost it job creation here in America, along with cutting government waste and inefficiency. (Things that Obama promised but failed to deliver on). How can anyone interpret his goals as only venefiting the rich when ALL of America will benefit from more jobs, better jobs, more people paying into the tax system and less taxes?

It would be normal to question whether or not Romney can deliver on his promises - but we know he has a much stronger track record in these issues and we also know Obama couldn't even do it when he had full control of the house and senate. Well, either he couldn't or he just didn't bother...

I say this is clearly a case of better the devil you DON'T know than the devil who's already failed.

RE: The Top 5 Most Ridiculous Gov’t Expenses Found in This Year’s ‘Wastebook’

Obama was among the top five recipients of earmarks over a 20 year period, even though he only served a couple of years. Chris Dodd was another of the top five.

I'll have to pull the list again, but it seems most were dems...

Another Debate Fact Check comes to light.

It seems that Mitt Romney was correct when he said Barack Obama invests in Chinese companies through a Cayman Island trust. This information could not have come at a worse time, especially since election day is only 19 days away. The Politifact ‘Truth-o-Meter’ says that Romney’s comments are true:

It’s an accurate set of statements when you consider investments made by managers of the Illinois pension fund in which Obama has an account.

As we noted in reviewing previous claims about Romney’s investments in China, the investments involved are indirect and — as far as anybody has said — made without the knowledge of the account holder.

With that clarification, we rate Romney’s statement Mostly True.

RE: President Obama's Top 50 Accomplishments

Looks like Obama has gone and ticked off another group -- in Ohio no less -- and got caught in a campaign lie on top of it...

"Coal miners in southeastern Ohio are blasting an ad from President Obama that claims they were forced to "be props in (Mitt) Romney's commercial."

Romney appeared at an Aug. 15 event in Belmont County surrounded by 500 coal miners, and claimed that unnecessary regulation by the Obama administration's Environmental Protection Agency amounts to a "war on coal," and has helped put thousands of miners' jobs in jeopardy. The Obama campaign countered with an ad charging the miners were forced to attend the Romney rally, and that they lost a day's pay.

That ad followed a mining company official's acknowledgement that workers were told attendance was "mandatory" -- though he claimed they weren't really "forced" to attend.

"These ads state that we were forced to attend this rally, and that is blatantly false."

- Mitch MIracle, worker at Century mine

A group of 500 miners has now penned a letter and released a video insisting that no one was forced to attend the rally and demanding that the Obama campaign disavow the ad. The workers at Century mine, in Beallsville, Ohio, which is operated by Murray Energy subsidiary American Energy Century, said they "voluntarily and enthusiastically" attended the event.

My household income has also gone down and my groceries are through the roof. Wondering how in the world I'm going to provide for my kids when I can no longer save a dime????

Barack Obama’s 32 Month Report Card

Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where “we the people” are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed.

American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5% from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000, and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush’s term to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase, and finally, our national debt is up 34.4% from 10.627 trillion to 14,278 trillion *

Keep these figures in mind as we recount the number of “firsts” for this presidency

First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.

First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.

First President to preside over a cut to the credit rating of the United States. Nope - make that TWO cuts.

First President to violate the War Powers Act.

First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico .

First President to defy a Federal Judges court order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law.

First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.

First President to spend a trillion dollars on shovel-ready jobs and later admit there was no such thing as shovel-ready jobs.

First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.

First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat.

First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the deportation of illegal immigrants across the U.S. , including those with cr imi nal convictions.

First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.

First President to terminate Americas ability to put a man in space.

First President to encourage racial discrimination and intimidation at polling places.

First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.

First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.

First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly speak-out on the reasons for their rate increases.

First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state they are allowed to locate a factory.

First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (Az, WI, OH, IN)

First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.

First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.

First President to appoint 45 Czars to replace elected officials in his office.

First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office.

First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.

First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.

First President to coddle American enemies while alienating Americas allies.

First President to go on multiple global apology tours.

First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends, paid for
by the taxpayer.

First President to refuse to wear the U.S. Flag lapel pin.

First President to have 22 personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.

First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000.00 a year at taxpayer expense.

Romney opens up 6-point lead over Obama as campaigns hunker down in swing states

October 18, 2012

Mitt Romney opened up his biggest lead yet in a national Gallup survey, with the latest results showing the Republican nominee up 6 points over President Obama -- with less than three weeks and just one debate left on the calendar before Election Day.

The Gallup survey, which is based on a seven-day rolling average, showed Romney leading 51-45 percent. At the start of October, he was tied with Obama at 48 percent each.

The poll measures likely voters, with the latest results spanning interviews from Oct. 10-16. The poll would not yet have factored in voters' views after the second presidential debate, which was held Tuesday.

But the poll shows Romney's numbers continuing to rise on the heels of the first debate, a trend that was apparently not blunted by Vice President Biden's aggressive debate performance one week ago.

RE: President Obama's Top 50 Accomplishments

Well lookie here.... Just as Jack Welch predicted, those job numbers were a big whopping lie.... It turns out California's jobless numbers were excluded from the count.

It's shocking what happens to Obama's unemployment figures when you add California back in. I read a story somewhere that California DID report the number, but the Labor Department somehow "failed" to include their quarterly refilling number.

People..WHY do you continue to support an administration that has consistently lied and manipulated YOU since coming into office.

Don't you feel cheated????

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- First-time claims for unemployment benefits are on a roller coaster. The number snapped back up last week, after falling to a four-year low the week before.

About 388,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ended October 13, up 46,000 from the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The last two weeks have swung dramatically in both directions, with initial claims first dropping to a revised 342,000, the lowest level in four years, and then suddenly popping back up last week.

The large swings illustrate just how volatile the data are from week to week, which is why economists often prefer to look at a four-week moving average.

That indicator increased to 365,500 last week and has been hovering in the 360,000 to 380,000 range since July.

Meanwhile, about 3.3 million Americans continued to file for their second week of unemployment

RE: President Obama's Top 50 Accomplishments

Failures:

Signed an unconstitutional healthcare bill into law that after 18 months still hasn't been completed. Obama promised individual rates would drop by $2,500 per person, but instead they have gone up by $2,500. It is estimated that 4.5 million Americans will lose their healthcare coverage (if not their jobs) through work.

Appointed a well known advocate of healthcare rationing in charge of medicare as a 'recess appointment' to slide him by Congress.

Exempting 166 trade unions from Obamacare mandates. And other companies are exempt as well, most noteable those from Nancy Pelosi's district - pays to play.

Used the Gulf Oil Spill to promote Green Energy – instead of cleaning it up!

Goes to War in Libya, ousting a dictator without Congressional approval, resulting in country controlled by Islamic fascists, losing missles in the process that will most assuredly be launched against the United States at some point.

RE: Why Ocare will fail

I would have no problem with a public health system if it works. I've talked to "physicians" on both sides of the subject and we've discussed the similarities and differences at length. Obamacare doesn't begin to address some of the elements included in national plans - ELEMENTS THAT MAKE THEM SUCESSFUL.

The problem is that it's destined to fail - and by the time people figure it out, it will be too late.

RE: Why Ocare will fail

The key word being "decent." Obamacare looks nothing like any working national plan out there. It's a living, breathing, underfunded disaster.

That's the problem.

RE: Why Ocare will fail

It looks like another Obamacare cover-up has been going on...

"Issa threatens subpoena this week over ObamaCare documents"

"...Issa claims the bonus program is being used to mask the first round of Medicare Advantage cuts in connection with the health care overhaul -- in order to win favor with seniors. He said in a recent letter that "the only plausible explanation" for the program is that it's being used as a "temporary bandage" to cover up cuts, "realizing the political danger" of those cuts in an election year.

The program in question is called a "demonstration" project. But Issa's office complains the project is far more sweeping than a run-of-the-mill test program, and conveniently lasts until 2014.

The congressman further says the effects of ObamaCare's $200 billion in Medicare Advantage cuts over the next decade would have been felt starting this week -- if not for the bonus payments. Thanks to them, he wrote in an August letter, the project offsets 71 percent of the cuts this year. "

Why else would they delay the cuts if not for the fact that it would kill Obama's re-election chances?

RE: ROMNEY'S LATEST SHAMEFUL LIE!

And she probably should claim some of the responsibility, especially with the security lapse. However, the two weeks of administration lies by four top administration officials - Obama, Rice, Clinton and Axelrod do not belong to her.

Obama even lied when he addressed the UN about the attacks - claiming it was all about the video when we now know with absolute certainty he knew this wasn't remotely true.

RE: Who wins the VP debate?

And here's another good Biden lie...

Biden: "We went ahead and made sure that we cut taxes for the middle class"

Not true. Not even close to true.

At least seven of the taxes in Obamacare will fall directly on the middle class. There's the tax for not having health care insurance that could cost families as much as $2,000 a year once Obamacare is implemented. Obama care caps the amount of money people can set aside pre-tax in flexible spending accounts, and limits the usage of that money. It also limits the deduction that families with catastrophic health care costs can deduct from taxes. I could go on, but you get the point.
