Conrad,

Take a peek at the video Ttom just posted. There's Bill Clinton, large as life, explaining his decision to bomb Iraq because of it's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Now this is a classic case of Pot Meet Kettle...

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid lashed out at Mitt Romney’s faith during a conference call with reporters, saying he is “not the face of Mormonism” and suggesting he has tarnished the religion.

Reid, a Democrat and the highest-ranking Mormon in U.S. elected office, also said he agrees with claims that Romney has “sullied” the Latter-day Saints faith."

Harry Reid? The guy who just recently was implicated in a breaking scandal, pushing for government funding of the Chinese green energy company ENN Mojave Energy LLC, which is apparently represented by his son?

Harry Reid who was earlier involved in a land swindle that saw him make a reported $700,000?

And then this Harry Reid?

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Hey Galrads... You know how Obama just LUVS his drones? Well..ut oh! Turns out the Messiah has been out there killing innocent civilians all along - and if I recall, without the premission of Congress...

"A new study conducted by law professors at Stanford and New York University contends that the U.S. use of drones to target suspected militants in Pakistan has had a "damaging and counterproductive effect" on the country and has killed far more civilians than previously acknowledged.

Drones hover 24 hours a day over communities in northwest Pakistan, striking homes, vehicles and public spaces without warning," the report said. "Those living under drones have to face the constant worry that a deadly strike may be fired at any moment, and the knowledge that they are powerless to protect themselves."
Relying on data compiled by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the study's authors say that between 2,562 and 3,325 people have been killed in U.S. drone attacks in Pakistan, and between 474 and 881 of them were civilians."

The study, which was released on Tuesday, relies on some 130 interviews with civilians living in the regions of northern Pakistan where targeted drone strikes have been most frequent. Working with the activist group Reprieve, the team of professors have added to the growing body of literature that argues, contrary to Obama administration claims, that numerous civilians have been killed, and many more traumatized, by the drone strike program.

So much for building good will in the Middle East...

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

But back to the thread topic...

Obamacare, Obama's signature legislation, will go into effect if he is re-elected. Even though it was passed two years ago, there is A LOT we still don't know about the "plan" other than the fact that their numbers were grossly understated. Also, we know that Obama's congress (not the current congress), exempted itself from Obamacare, along with some 160++ Unions and pet corporations.

But looking at the bill itself, here is what we do know...

I would suggest that every voter take a look at some of the line items and then think LONG AND HARD before heading off to the polls this November.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Remember also that we did not kill Saddam Hussain. We captured him and turned him over to the people of Iraq, who then tried him and executed him....wink

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

It's interesting that Bill Clinton received FULL SUPPORT for his attack on Iraq back in 1996, yet suddenly when Bush is president Hussain is no longer a bad guy?

"The Anti-Defamation League fully supports your decision to respond forcefully to Iraqi attacks against Kurds in the protected zone in northern Iraq," David H. Strassler, ADL National Chairman, and Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, said in their letter to the President.

"Saddam Hussein's history of aggression and brutality against Kuwait, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and minorities within Iraq's borders," said the League leaders, "has taught us that we can never allow the Iraqi dictator to use force arbitrarily.... The United States must continue its policy of containing Iraqi military action and preventing similar operations in the future."

RE: why ordinary Americans love obama?

For the record, I don't mind SOME socialistic concepts such as national healthcare. If it works, there should be no problem. My objection here is that Obamacare is extremely poorly constructed and doesn't look anything like other national plans out there. As such it is destined to fail. Why couldn't they have just patterned the new system after one that has been proven to work?

dunno

RE: why ordinary Americans love obama?

The shame of this is that Obamacare is theoretically providing and INCENTIVE for both corporations and people like me to DROP our health insurance. I pay $7,000 a year for family coverage, which has risen $1000 a year for the last two years because of Obamacare (I thought this was supposed to LOWER my premiums). dunno Anyway, it would be cheaper for me to pay the $1,200 fine than continue coverage.

Similarly, corporations now find it is cheaper to drop their group coverage and just pay the smaller fine. It makes no sense.

And I'm curious why Obama excluded some 160+ unions from Obamacare, along with other coporations? Wouldn't it have helped the Obamacare bottom line to include their contributions?

RE: why ordinary Americans love obama?

Well it's about to get worse for the Middle Class as they will be most effected by Obamacare next year...

Nearly 6 million Americans -- most of them in the middle class -- will face a tax penalty for not carrying medical coverage once President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law is fully in place, congressional budget analysts said Wednesday.

The new estimate amounts to an inconvenient fact for the administration, a reminder of what critics see as broken promises.

The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are significantly higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed.

The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected. The difference -- 2 million people-- represents a 50 percent increase.

That's still only a sliver of the population, given that more than 150 million people currently are covered by employer plans. Nonetheless, in his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000.

And the budget office analysis found that nearly 80 percent of those who'll face the penalty would be making up to or less than five times the federal poverty level. Currently that would work out to $55,850 or less for an individual and $115,250 or less for a family of four.

Average penalty: about $1,200 in 2016.

Another HUGE reason is because currently there is no way to have your savings earn money here. Our "Term" accounts (CD'S) are paying less than 2% interest to your 6.5% interest. Our checking accounts pay .09% to your 3.15%. And then there's the stock market laugh laugh

Also, with all this quantative easing the USD is creeping lower and lower.... The KIWI was trading at .70 to the USD three years ago, now it's at 82.8 or so. It only makes sense to cover your bases and invest in other currencies right now, given what's happening here.

And then there are the bank closures over here...how many has NZ had? One? People want to be safe....It's not all about being cheats

RE: why ordinary Americans love obama?

(she also says she is now out of politics) dunno

Did you see this? Hillary Clinton wants to redistribute wealth all around the world now.

NEW YORK (AP) - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she wants foreign countries to make elite citizens pay their fair share of taxes.

Reflecting the American debate over taxing the rich, Clinton on Monday addressed participants in her husband's Clinton Global Initiative.

The annual forum brings together leaders in politics, business and philanthropy to tackle the world's biggest problems.

Clinton says the U.S. will help struggling nations become self-sufficient rather than offering traditional aid. She says taxing the wealthy would bolster such growth.

The secretary of state says she's now out of politics. She has said she plans to retire after elections.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Because you are wrong and the recession was not caused by the Republicans. It was caused by 20 years of bad government on both sides (more on the left though). That's your first mistake. You can keep saying it until you're blue in the face but you can't change the facts.

Two wars didn't make a dent in the problems we are facing. Barney Frank did more damage in two years than those wars.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

confused confused

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

We've gone over this before Dude. When you have an offshore account you declare it to the IRS - WHICH ROMNEY DID - and then you pay taxes every year on the interest earned (less taxes paid to the host country). Besides, don't you remember they sued and won regarding Swiss bank accounts and they are no required to report such things to the US?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having offshore accounts. It's a very sound idea to put your money in different nest eggs across the board - and in particular out of one currency and into another. As long as you report it to the IRS and pay the appropriate taxes, there is no "cheating."

Now is there any part of that you didn't understand?

RE: why ordinary Americans love obama?

Well let's see....

More people living in poverty than three years ago
Median household wealth is lower across the board
Unemployment is up, particularly among blacks and hispanics
The Misery Index is up
Our World Freedom Ranking has been lowered
Our Credit rating lowered for the first time ever - TWICE
Our debt is OFF THE CHARTS and we have NOTHING to show for it
Foreign countries think LESS of us now than than 2008 (Pew Research)
Our foreign policy is in shreds
Obamacare costs now double or triple what they said it would be
Housing market is non-existent

Sure! We're lots better off!

Which is exactly how you know that Romney is NOT a tax cheat Dude. If he was, they certainly would be salivating at the thought of all that imaginary money.

And for the 100th time - we know about Romney's off sho accounts because he DECLARED them on his income taxes. Therefore, NOTHING HIDDEN. doh

Ah hmmm. scold scold

Top 20 Percent of Households Pay 94 Percent of The Nation's Total Income Taxes (maybe we should be thanking them?)

For all four of the bottom quintiles, i.e. the bottom 80 percent of households, the income tax rate has been dropping fairly steadily since the early 1980s. In contrast, the tax rate on the top 20 percent has held relatively steady at about 14 percent of income. The tax rate on the top 1 percent has also held fairly steady, but at a higher rate of about 21 percent. Since 2007, the tax rate on the top 1 percent has actually increased, from 19.4 percent to 21 percent, such that it is higher now than at any time since the Bush tax cuts. This is largely due to the collapse of the stock market, which reduced capital gains as a source of income.

It follows that the share of income taxes paid by top earners has increased as well. As Figure 2 shows, in 2009 the share paid by the top 20 percent of households was 94.1 percent, just shy of the record high of 94.6 percent in 2008. This is up from 64.7 percent in 1979.

Likewise, the share of taxes paid by the top 1 percent has increased from 18.4 percent in 1979 to 38.7 percent in 2009. In contrast, the share of income taxes paid by the bottom four quintiles has decreased since 1979, particularly since 2007.
