Media propaganda? Like George Soros who has spent well over $48 million to fund media here and abroad? Soros who owns Huffington Post (AOL) and Media Matters, which it has just been proven is in direct collusion with the Department of Justice? Is that the kind of propaganda we are referring to here?
Soros’ influence doesn’t just include connections to top mainstream news organizations such as NBC, ABC, The New York Times and Washington Post. It’s bought him connections to the underpinnings of the news business. The Columbia Journalism Review, which bills itself as “a watchdog and a friend of the press in all its forms,” lists several investigative reporting projects funded by one of Soros foundations.
The “News Frontier Database” includes seven different investigative reporting projects funded by Soros’ Open Society Institute. Along with ProPublica, there are the Center for Public Integrity, the Center for Investigative Reporting and New Orleans’ The Lens. The Columbia School of Journalism, which operates CJR, has received at least $600,000 from Soros, as well.
Good luck with this thread, Modern. I have a feeling it will become depressing and I don't have the heart for it tonight. I'm off to better things...like maybe a lynching.
Funny how once upon a time it was viewed as a good thing to be honest and speak your mind. It was through the sharing of ideas and the objective debates that we were able to achieve such great growth of civilization.
To be more specific - the fact that we are not allowed to talk is what bothers me most. There is a real, growing sense that if you do not agree with the masses you need to be silenced.
I lived in Amish country for a year or so. It was so funny to see the hitching posts at the local Home Depot but I loved the way they integrated the horses into daily life. Whenever a buggy of Amish would pass by my horse's pasture, they would all run over to watch.
For some reason this thread got me thinking about the general status of religion here in America. I grew up alternating between homes in the deep south and in the NY/Tri-state region. Throughout my lifetime I've functioned among just about every major religion out there and have attended just about every branch of the varying churches.
Just going by my own life experience here, but it seems to me that the American principles of Freedom of Religion has served us very well over the past many years. There is generally a great acceptance between the various religions and we have largely lived in harmony and acceptance of other's beliefs. My kids, who do not attend any church, do routinely visit different churches with their friends and they all discuss their religious beliefs openly. This weekend they were at a Catholic service and last night, a Baptist. Some of their friends at school dress differently because of their religion, but it is not viewed as weird or unacceptable...just different and interesting.
Anyway, the most friction I have seen is my lifetime is in the past several years due to the intolerance of Islamic extremists and now the intolerance towards Christianity. It's depressing.
All the organized religions interpret their holy books to suit their needs or beliefs, which is why I'm not personally a big fan of organized religion. I do, however, deeply respect the role that the churches play in society and many of the values they promote.
Luckily most modern day religions focus on tolerance rather than violent intolerance. Imagine if all the Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Mormans, Catholics, Jews, etc. felt it was their duty to kill all non-believers of their faith? Certainly Muslims don't all believe or support violence, but obviously there is a large contingency out there that do and that is a serious danger to all of us at the moment.
It's kind of weird but I was chatting with a couple of people from all sorts of places like here and in the UK - but the minute I set my mail filters to exclude certain countries they all evaporated.
Sorry but it doesn't work that way. If Pakistan or any other nation wants to limit their own free speech, they can jolly well control their own airways and ban anything they think offensive. But I'll be hanged if they are going to start dictating to other countries what they can and cannot say because once that gets started it will snowball into a thousand other things.
"While saving face by sticking to a lie is nothing new, Obama must at least be consistent: either throw Bill Maher under the bus (as he did with many others), or admit that his support of the "Arab Spring" has been the worst foreign policy disaster since Jimmy Carter. You can't have falafel and eat it, too, Mr. President."
Interesting to note that when I googled it several links came up to this story. I wonder if mainstream media will cover it.
Bigoted Anti-Islam filmmaker's name revealed: Bill Maher
Where are the riots for Bills movie??
WASHINGTON, September 16, 2012 ? It turns out that a hate-filled movie that ridicules Islam also involved a major Obama donor Bill Maher. Our friend John Nolte of Big Hollywood and Breitbart.com writes:
OMG! I checked on the link and it was all there! For the second time tonight all I can say is "Holy Smokes." If this turns out to be true - I'm SURE it would be easy to verify by looking at Maher's movie - then poor Obama will have an even worse week than he is now.
True or not, I got a kick out of the last paragraph.
RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?
"Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch said he doesn’t trust President Barack Obama on Israel but supports him because he thinks he will be re-elected."And that, ladies and gentlemen, is politics in a nutshell.
