RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Soros isn't an American hero or any other nation's hero. I'll get to that in a minute. But in the meantime...

Real Clear Politics "compared the final Gallup polls with the actual results in every race in which an incumbent president was opposing an insurgent since 1964. This included the Johnson-Goldwater race of 1964, the Nixon-McGovern race of 1972, the Carter-Ford race of 1976, the Reagan-Carter-Anderson race of 1980, the Reagan-Mondale race of 1984, the Clinton-Bush-Perot race of 1992, the Clinton-Dole race of 1996 and the Bush-Kerry race of 2004.

In these races, the undecided vote went heavily for the insurgent and the incumbent lost vote share between the final poll and the election, even when the incumbent was winning the contest easily overall. Six of eight presidents seeking reelection performed worse than the final Gallup poll predicted, while one finished the same (Reagan in 1984) and one gained votes (Bush in 2004). Seven of the nine insurgent candidates did better than the final Gallup survey predicted.

• In 1964, Johnson lost 3 points to Goldwater at the end.

• In 1972, Nixon lost 1 point to a third-party candidate.

• In 1976, there was a 4-point swing to Carter.

• In 1980, there was a 3-point swing to Reagan or Anderson.

• In 1984, there was no change between the final poll and the results.

• In 1992, there was a 1-point shift away from Bush. In that contest, there was also a 5-point swing away from Clinton to Perot at the end.

• In 1996, there was a 5-point swing away from Clinton and to Dole or Perot.

• Only Bush in 2004 ran better in the result than in the final poll, by ?2 points.

In other words, of the total of ?19 points that shifted between the final poll and the election results, 17 points or 89 percent went to the challenger.

The implications of these findings are that the current polls, while seemingly close, portend a strong Republican victory. The RealClearPolitics.com average of the past eight presidential horse race polls shows Obama with a 47-44 lead over Romney. But among likely voters, in the Rasmussen survey (all others were of either registered voters or adults), the president was running behind Romney by 48-44.

RE: Why Billionaires are bankrolling Mitt Romney

Well lookie here. Seems Romney just took the lead in another swing state...

Despite two days of negative coverage over his secretly videotaped remarks during a fundraiser in Florida, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has now taken the lead in the key swing state of New Hampshire, according to a new Rasmussen poll.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in New Hampshire shows Romney with 48 percent support to President Obama’s 45 percent. Four percent prefer some other candidate, and three percent are undecided.

In June, Obama held a five-point lead over Romney in the Granite State, 48 percent to 43 percent, the polling firm pointed out in their remarks released Wednesday.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

There is NOTHING funny about the department of Justice being in collusion with Soro's Media Matters.

Can't you grasp the seriousness of this situation Dude?

It's not funny at all very mad

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Well let's see Dude...yesterday Iran launched a Russian nuclear sub into the Gulf, the Chinese General tells his troops to prepare for action against Japan, and Libya warns of even greater terrorist attacks...oh yes...and he's too busy to meet with Israel for the second time this year.

And where is President Obama? Out of the office preparing to go on Letterman.

It is extremely negligent and insulting that this man can't stop his campaigning long enough to meet with other world leaders and do his JOB!!!

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Looks like Rasmussen has him down only one point today

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

No Darling. Rasmussen had Obama down 2 points yesterday, Gallop had him up one point. Nationally

RE: Why Billionaires are bankrolling Mitt Romney

Well you are deliberately distorting the point of his message, but as a matter of record, *49% of all Americans pay no fed income tax, while 47% receive a check from the government of which more than half are means tested welfare checks (Medicaid, welfare, food stamps, etc.)

*36% of all Americans of working age are either not working or looking for work.

What part of that do you disagree with?

We must remember, however, that a great many of those who receive checks from the government have earned them. Some by their taxes over the years to Social Security and Medicare and others by paying a deeper price by service to their country.

It's never a good idea to speak in generalities since there are exceptions to every rule, but the fact remains that our electorate is basically bifurcated into those who pay taxes and those who receive benefits.

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Absolutely we are better off with Romney. He's not doing anything here except telling the truth and stating the obvious.

Welcome back Dude!

RE: Why Billionaires are bankrolling Mitt Romney

FACT CHECK.ORG

President Obama and a super PAC that supports him are stealing a page from Newt Gingrich and Ted Kennedy in running TV ads and web videos that slam Mitt Romney for his years at Bain Capital. And, like Gingrich and Kennedy before him, Obama is lemon-picking — that is, highlighting the venture capital firm’s failed businesses and ignoring its successful ones.

Both Obama and the super PAC Priorities USA Action spotlight two businesses — Ampad and GS Industries — that filed for bankruptcy while under Bain’s control, leaving hundreds of workers unemployed. In the case of GS Industries, Bain took over a shrinking company in a difficult market and kept it operating for several years before it filed for bankruptcy (a bankruptcy that was arguably hastened by Bain’s hefty borrowing and self-enrichment). Bain purchased Ampad from a struggling parent company that was shedding jobs and assets, and then expanded it before a heavy debt burden forced it into bankruptcy.

Bain’s portfolio also includes major successes, such as Staples Office and The Sports Authority. But you won’t see them here. Indeed, Romney responded to the TV ad about the bankruptcy of GS Industries, a Kansas City steel company, with his own ad about Bain’s investment in an Indiana steel company that has grown and added thousands of employees. And Bain itself issued a statement defending its overall record, saying that “revenues grew in 80 percent of the more than 350 companies in which we have invested.”

RE: Where is the best place too retire?

I believe that! But it is so HUGE! Where would you suggest a person start looking? dunno

RE: Where is the best place too retire?

Ewwww! Did you happen to tour around Fiddler's Creek? That was one of my biggest clients when I was in Naples, but it was just getting started and had a 20-year build-out. I assume it's well underway now. dunno

RE: Why Billionaires are bankrolling Mitt Romney

Not everything is always so black and white. Obama has PLENTY of support from the top one percent, and surprisingly, Romney has significant support from low income groups.

According to Gallup's polling from the tracking period of Aug. 27-Sept. 16, 34 percent of voters whose household incomes are less than $24,000 a year support Romney. Obama easily wins among those voters, earning the support of 58 percent.

As Gallup points out, a significant portion of the individuals who pay no income tax are the same voters in the lowest income bracket, roughly a third of whom intend to vote for Romney, not Obama.

Perhaps it is because so many of the newly-impoverished Americans WANT to change their situation and actually get a job.

RE: Where is the best place too retire?

My Spanish is virtually non-existent but I think I could pick it up fairly easily. Have a sister-in-law from South America who speaks very little English, but we get along just great after a few glasses of wine. laugh

I've studied New Zealand more than the others and would definitely head there were it not so far. It's gorgeous and the people are so fun and friendly. I love it.

Australia has always been attractive to me, but I didn't get a chance to visit when I wasin NZ. Ran out of time. crying

RE: Where is the best place too retire?

I know. sigh It's not something I like to consider either, but the situation here concerns me greatly. If it were just me I would stick around no matter what - but my daughters have been through enough. If things get worse here we will probably make the move.

sigh

RE: Where is the best place too retire?

I've been considering this for a couple of years now. For me, it's either New Zealand, Costa Rica or Panama. dunno

Ok I'm sorry but I just have to say this...

laugh rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing laugh

thumbs up

RE: Obama Care summed up!

Why does it have to be either/or? Nobody is suggesting we privatize every little thing out there. But when a government program is broken, such as social security and medicare, the people who have paid into them religiously their entire working life are going to be hurt - and hurt badly. What is the point of allowing the government to forcibly take our money on a promise, if they always end up bankrupt?

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Not surprising considering all the media working to shape public opinion instead of reporting facts. And as it happens, here's another little tidbit to make you gag.

California’s ObamaCare-created insurance exchange is planning to spend $900,000 in taxpayer money to a P.R. firm to help enlist Hollywood “to incorporate story lines or mentions of health care reform that would reinforce [public relations] campaign messages” on prime-time TV.

If it was sooooo good, would this brainwashing be necessary?

Sorry HL. I didn't mean to bump you. Was typing as you posted.

RE: Are YOU one of the 47% Mitt Romney is talking about?

Well you are not alone, Hugger. (this is from today's Gallop)

PRINCETON, NJ -- Although President Barack Obama has a substantial voting edge over Republican Mitt Romney among low-income Americans, Romney still gets about a third of the vote among those whose household incomes are less than $24,000 a year.

And conversely, "Although Romney does better on the other end of the income scale, Obama gets the support of more than four in 10 Americans who make $180,000 a year or more."

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

Yep. Just like the DOJ/Eric Holder getting caught in collusion with Media Matters. It's infuriating that the liberal media won't publish. Covering for their own.

But in the meantime, here's a funny one for you!

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

It just gets worse and worse. A SECOND DOWNGRADE??? doh

"Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s decision to engage in a third round of “quantitative easing” (QE3) drew immediate celebration from Wall Street, but it was also met by a reduction in America’s credit rating. Ratings firm Egan-Jones reduced its rating of U.S. government debt from “AA” to “AA-,” claiming that the $40 billion-per-month money infusion announced by the Fed will badly hurt the economy."

So Obama's ratings dropped seven points on Gallop from last week to this week. What do you bet they drop another seven after people hear this?

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

In the meantime, today Iran announced it has launched a Russian nuclear sub in the Gulf, a Chinese general is telling folks to prepare for conflict with Japan, and Libya is prediction even more violence.

Where is Obama? Heading for David Letterman. very mad

RE: Are YOU one of the 47% Mitt Romney is talking about?

Sorry. That was supposed to be a Riz quote and Wish response. Something strange going on my 'puter. mumbling

RE: Are YOU one of the 47% Mitt Romney is talking about?

Or maybe the "Research" you quoted was not the research used by the white house, similar to how you are happy to quote research that shows Obama slipping in the polls, but neglected to say 9 other polls showed he was still ahead.

And that you can see nothing wrong with dismissing half of the voters in America amazes me, but I guess you are in the top 15% who can afford to vote for a conniving man who doesn't even pay his own taxes.
Just jesting, we all have our opinions and in fairness you live there and whoever wins will have a far greater effect on you than me.[/quote

True. It is entirely possible, but doubtful, that Obama did not see the Pew research. As for his poll numbers, I've already explained that Rasmussen is daily whereas Gallop and others are weekly. It just so happens that Gallop's numbers came out today and Obama is up one over Romney. You may think that is bad for Romney, but the truth is Obama has lost seven points since last week - which is why I prefer to watch the daily polls, over weekly.

Still, I respect your opinion and do not try to change it just because I think the other candidate is better. I'm far more concerned with challenging comments that seem riddled in mythology (not yours specifically - just in general). I was only responding to your comments. My belief is that if nobody speaks up and does the research, the bad guy wins by default. wine

RE: Who is going to win the american presidential election in November? Obama or Romney?

More bad news for this administration....collusion between the DOJ and Media Matters.

Will there be moral outrage? grin

"Newly published emails show the top spokeswoman at the U.S. Justice Department regularly collaborating with the liberal advocacy group Media Matters on stories that slam the administration's critics.

The emails, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act requestand published by The Daily Caller, often show department public affairs chief Tracy Schmaler communicating with Media Matters bloggers. Sometimes, the emails were in response to inquiries. Other times, Schmaler was pitching ideas, according to the Caller.

In a January 2012 email chain, Schmaler sent a Media Matters writer lines from House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's comments at a recent hearing. She reportedly underlined passages where the California Republican tries to explain the difference between Operation Fast and Furious and other anti-gunrunning operations under former President George W. Bush.

Hours later, an article appeared on Media Matters' site titled "Rep. Issa Ties Himself in Fast and Furious Knots."

Daily Caller editor Tucker Carlson, also a Fox News contributor, said the emails show "moment-to-moment coordination" between the department and Media Matters.

"We received a massive amount of these communiques that indicate direct coordination between the Obama Justice Department ... and Media Matters to subvert news stories," he said Tuesday. "This proves coordination."

Emails from late 2010 also reportedly showed Schmaler sending Media Matters information to help challenge claims that the department dealt lightly with New Black Panther members who allegedly intimidated voters in Philadelphia in 2008.

Another March 12 email showed Schmaler pointing out "false" statements made by Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips in a Fox News interview. Phillips called Operation Fast and Furious a "political operation" -- pushing a claim that the administration let guns walk across the Mexico border to build a case for gun control.
