The worse part about Obamacare is that it is just another underfunded defined benefit program. It "promises" coverage, and commits to expenditures, but is already short of funding before even kicking in.
The bill relies on dubious future “savings,” secured by unaccountable appointed committees, and chosen by not yet elected politicians. It contains laughably bogus utilization and cost projections, combined with equally fantastic tax revenue promises, which shamefully underestimate the overall cost of the legislation.
Social Security took 80 years to go broke, Medicare took 50. I suspect Obamacare will take less than 5.
Two years ago, Obama told us that Obamacare would not cost a penny over $1 trillion ($900 billion to be precise), and that it would not add ‘one dime’ to the debt.
He was off by about 1700%. (seriously)
It turns out that the true long-term funding gap is a mind-boggling $17 trillion, just a tad more than the original sub $1 trillion forecast. This latest revelation means that total underfunded US welfare liabilities: Medicare, Medicaid and social security now amount to $99 trillion.
Obamacare is most definitely underfunded which is why they are borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. And thousands of it's regulations have not even been written yet, so you can bet it's going to have very slim coverages when it's all said and done.
People do not NEED laser eye surgery. They WANT laser eye surgery. We have lived for centuries without laser eye surgery. You can bet your bottom dollar Obamacare won't offer it,
Well thank you for clarifying that. I had no idea a European country would be located in Europe.
The point I am making is that the Obamacare is NOT what they have in Europe, Canada, Somali or East Bumfooey. It is a wholly different animal and it is woefully underfunded, woefully incomplete, and because of that it will ruin our present system.
Ok... but how are the doctors treated under the Swiss plan? Do they have outrageous malpractice insurance that they have to provide for themselves? And who pays for their continuing education requirements? What are their university costs? Is there reimbursement rate set below their cost to operate?
These are just a handful of problems that Obamacare neglected to consider. Well, they did cut $500 billion in Medicare reimbursements to doctors, but they did nothing to lower their personal costs. The end result is they will be forced to avoid Medicare patients entirely.
I don't know where Dude went off to. He just said he would be away for few days.
It is too close to call. I suspect Obama's numbers will drop today after his handling of the Middle East protests, but it's a crazy world so who knows?
It looks like no matter how hard the media trys to spin things, Obama has lost his convetion bounce and Romney still holds a marginal lead. Today's poll will not be posted until after 9:30, but here are the results as of yesterday...
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns 46% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.
The problem is that Obamacare doesn't even remotely resemble other national health care plans. We aren't going to be getting free lasik or free anything. The plan is awful.
Well I thought it was a good idea at the time, until I saw it being misused so badly. I have decided to just ban myself and spare the poor fella any more work.
To be blunt, there are many, MANY Americans who clearly believe that Obama is an abject failure. I'm sure billionaires feel much the same as we little peons. Their interest in electing another does not come close to meaning that there is some grand conspiracy by the rich.
Rich and poor alike can see Obama for what he is - and if they care about this country they want to see him out of office.
I was just saying on the other thread that it would be interesting to see what happened if all of us (US, German, Britian...) completely withdrew from there and stopped communicating with them entirely. Take all the money, the equipment and the staff out and park it in Israel.
A British newspaper is quoting U.S. diplomatic sources as saying that the State Department had "credible information" two days before the attacks in Egypt and Libya occurred. Two days! What is the Obama administration saying? They are denying any such intelligence existed.
According to The Independent, senior diplomatic sources said that "the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and 'lockdown', under which movement is severely restricted."
Is Obama even working anymore, or just off campaigning and raising money?
"This administration is collaborating with radical Islam, and that in fact, the commander in chief is a Muslim himself. Don’t believe me, ask the former Egyptian Foreign Minister."
And I thought to myself...at last someone has the chops to come out and say it.
Middle East expert Walid Phares tells Newsmax.TV that “the war with the jihadists is on” and that “the whole world is a battlefield” as a result.
“The administration needs to explain to the American public that the war with the Jihadists is on, even if we withdraw from Iraq, even if we withdraw from Afghanistan,” Phares tells Newsmax in an exclusive interview. “The jihadists are not withdrawing. So it is a unilateral withdrawal from the confrontation on behalf of the Obama administration.
“And we do need to, if not expect, but at least project, that as long as this enemy – these terrorists – have any intention of harming us, the whole world is a battlefield, not just Iraq and Afghanistan.
“They hit in Libya. They could hit in any other place,” he added. “So the American public should be prepared, better prepared, by its administration.”
Phares, an adviser to Congress on terrorism, called the attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans “an absolute act of terrorism with another layer of war crime.
“This is an attack against our diplomats in a country with which we’ve had good relations since the rebels took over and took down Gadhafi.
“But this is also indicative on the strategic level,” he added. “President Obama said that after bin Laden, al-Qaida is going down – and this is evidence that al-Qaida is spreading in areas where it was not operational, such as Libya and, of course, Somalia, Northern Mali, Syria, Iraq.”
