RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

Whatever happens is going to happen. TTom listens to way too much Rush Limbaugh and whoever else is an extremist. I, for one, do not rely on American media. We live in a terrific age where we can investigate to our heart's content-and find the answers by sifting through all the crap.

Good debate Tamsrin and fellas...wave it shows the differences through age and location. I am done on the subject after this post. Remember Tam, you can hate your dad, but love your brothers and sisters. I appreciate ALL of the soldiers who are over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I will always give them a heartfelt thank you for serving their respective countries. I will never scold ever agree with the war. We could have done other things in answer to the threat of weapons. I hold a prayer for them in my heart. As well as for the civilians who are trying to do the right thing within so much turmoil.

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

I don't expect you to understand the way the military works, but I would expect that you read my post carefully, which you did not.
A soldier does what he is told. There is no thought process to it. He has NO choice in the matter. Whether he is bright or not has nothing to do with it. He is government property and will go and do as the government tells him to do. His views on what American's think of them DO have something to do with his party affiliation.
I'm quite sure by saying that if they didn't believe in their government's cause they would come back in body bags didn't hurt any of their feelings. Seemingly you do not understand the words I wrote-almost like your emotions had taken over. There's logic to my statement. They are NOT fighting for MY freedom against terrorism. They are fighting for greed and corruption. Have you not heard of Halliburton? Did they find w.m.d.? Weren't the terrorist from 9/11 SAUDIS??
Your words:"This is the USA's problem in general that they think they are this great nation who can police the world" would do LESS for a soldier's moral than anything I could possibly say. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it wasn't for the US and their allies, wouldn't you be speaking German right now?
A prime example of why I thank God daily that a woman did NOT become our president.

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

thank you happy place snowed in laugh

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

No, it doesn't make me "think" nor does it surprise me. That's a soldier's mentality. They are owned and trained by the government and do what they are assigned to do. If they didn't believe in their government's cause, they would come back in a body bag. I remember how the soldiers were treated when they came back from Vietnam. Broken, missing limbs, downtrodden--not to a heroes welcome, just to a bunch of cameras. I doubt many have anything against the soldiers. We support our troops---but not the war. There is such a thing. I would be interested to know if that soldier was republican or democrat.
We care about our troops--may be hard for you to understand, but they have no business being there.

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

They started burning President Obama's picture before he became president. They haven't stopped burning our flag. There is no "control". Of course, when we leave, I'm quite sure we will be blamed for the "backlash" ... I'm also certain that not much will be mentioned on the billions of dollars spent over there to help rebuild them-coming from the US. The whole thing was an idiotic, greed driven venture. It needs to be stopped.

While you may think that in these dust-ups the "bombees" may suffer some inconveniences, the exercises do provide a more entertaining evening news show for those of us in the USofA. Still, there is another rather important third feature of these modern "police actions" – a lot of money can be made. But to reap these large financial rewards, a close relationship between the defense contractor and the politicians (what Eisenhower called the "military/industrial complex") is required. Typically, modern wars are followed by occupation and the repairing of the damage from the "contingency" (military/government code word for military intervention, usually not an emergency). Companies like Brown & Root Inc. (B&R) are hired to go in and build and/or repair bases, bridges, utilities, roads, airports, etc. Now in a rational world, you would think that the country that just got whupped would be the one to pay for all this. Not so, the good old American Taxpayer voluntarily (income tax is voluntary, didn't you know) contributes the funds to pay these contractors.

flirty I am well Charmer, how are you?teddybear

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

professor you are correct sir!!! Give that handsome man a prize...bouquet

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

All of it. When you "force" a country to do something-inevitably it will revert back to what it was before. Are you suggesting that we occupy the middle east for good? That's insane in my opinion. We went there for wmd--that was the excuse. The rich got richer off of the war, the poor got poorer-or worse, lost their children. Do you realize that they sent reservists over there? People who would be called on in an emergency to protect OUR country if need be. Not trained as soldiers per say--not like what they encountered in Iraq. IF they come home, they are not treated as soldiers but as reservists, not the same benefits, even though they did the same job. What is fair? Where is the victory? The rich got what they wanted and it is proven by our economy right now. Ever hear of Halliburton?

Answer one question for me---if they are in such democratic control, why were they burning President Obama's pictures and our flag???

RE: There's a thread about God verses Science, what do you believe?

I believe I stay out of those types of threads.laugh

RE: Obama Intent on Keeping His Word - Again

roll eyes Unfortunately he inherited this war. Starting it was absurd..continuing it would be asinine. There will never be political stability in the Middle East. We "infiltrated" Iraq on the premise of w.m.d. Nothing was found. President Obama was correct in pointing out that by concentrating on Afghanistan and Iraq, it only serves the terrorists to grow in other countries. This is my opinion. Nothing anyone could ever say would make me change my mind about this senseless war. God Bless the Troops. roll eyes
