Homeowners Rejoice! A new bathroom anyone?

Good point! I just believe that there are several other more pressing issues in our society that would better utilize tax payers dollars other than home renovations. JMO! Not everyone owns their home and they pay enormous amounts of rent...perhaps tax deductions for rent payers are in order as well? Not that I am critical of the government or anything...grin handshake

RE: i am new here

Well, I can tell you that it will be alot easier to attract and make new friends if you have a more positive attitude. Change can be hard, but there is always a reason, a good reason...embrace it and start looking at the bright side. Maybe reach out for some support and help to get through this transition. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. handshake

RE: Flat Lander Newbie

handshake Welcome - I'm a "flatlander" too!

RE: Happy Valentines Day

happy valentines day to all....have a great day...night! angel

RE: gasoline

dunno Don't buy booze...so couldn't tell you, but I do know that 4 litres of 2% milk cost about $4.39...mind you, that is not quite a Canadian gallon...for some reason our gallons are bigger than yours...laugh angel

RE: gasoline

How about this 87.9 cents a litre = about 3.50 a gallon! AND Saskatchewan/Alberta are very oil rich, in fact, in this province alone we have 2 major oil refineries! Apparently, we export it out of the country to the "oil giants" to the south and then buy it back at an inflated cost...now that really pisses me off very mad

Thinking of a new vehicle

Okay, here's the deal - I have a 2001 Cavalier Z24 - very disposable car, kinda like a bic lighter. Bought it last summer - not so happy with it...too small, kiddo is now 6 feet tall (13 yrs old), like folding up a giraffe!
And, we are relocating to the Yukon, so I have to drive up at the end of March.
The deal is this - I found at a local dealer, a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 door, 4X4. under 200K for mileage. Very good condition, new tires etc. NOw, my question is this, they will trade me for my car plus a grand. My gut is telling me to do it, but I am so leary of salesmen - am I getting "screwed"? I have heard great things about the Jeep Cherokee, anyone with testimony? Glen thinks that I should go for it, much better and appropriate vehicle for the Alaska Hiway and for up there....taking all opinions under consideration!!! confused dunno

RE: He11 on Ice

wave Hi from the "great white north" (Saskatchewan)! Of course, we are provided with all American news and weather...and I gotta say boys; after the kind of winter weather that you all have endured and continue to do so (I just saw what happens in Arizona when it snow! YIKES!!), you should seriously consider relocating up this way! We have winter, same ole same ole, it snows, it is coldish, it warms up and melts...really no surprises! dancing 4 seasons that follow the rules!!! Just a thought dancing

RE: Separation

Take the time to get over it, to heal, (yes everyone comes out of a marriage with issues) - get healthy and liking and knowing yourself as you alone, not part of a couple. Why? So that you are healthy and whole to enter into a new relationship...or to explore other possibilities without bitterness. grin

RE: How far would you go?

wave
I am relocating...have decided to take a leap of faith - there are no certainties in life, ever, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. For me, it is leaving my province, about a 30 hour drive. Happiness is a way of life, a journey, not the destination. I am not sure if I would be so eager to leave my country..no offense. Am I moving for love? It is all ready there - moving so that we can nurture, develop and grow that love stronger..and if for some reason it doesn't work? It's still been part of life's journey...angel

RE: Photos on profiles

wave I can only speak for myself, so here goes. Yes it was my photo that caught Glen's eye and after going back to me several times, he finally contacted me. Yes there was something in his pic that attracted me...it was not posed, it was random and so real. But, what really got my curiosity going was his "name", I mean who the heck calls himself pigpen on a dating site??? Somebody who is casual, quietly confident and funny? Yep...and the so the story goes. But very quickly into it all we connected on far more than a physical level, of course...but the physical attraction is definitely there in real life...so blushing angel
I do know this, I chose to stay on site because I enjoy the forums...and I still get mail from men who seen my pic...but they don't read my profile; and if they did, they would not bother contacting angel

The Movers are Booked

I have a car I have to get there as well...we compared the costs of many different options - me packing and having a reputable mover is no more that renting a 24 foot Uhaul truck (Yep, I do have some stuff) - hauling my car and paying for gas (at about 7 mpg). And with the movers, I do not need to load or unload or pay insurance. And, there was no way in hell that anyone would want me to be on the road driving that size of truck, pulling a car, from say Fort Nelson on...Glen would have had to get there to drive us through the mountains...dunno So, this way, me and the kiddo only have to drive about 30 hours...long trip, but so worth it!!!yay

RE: How sick is this?

Very sick!!! To say the least - but let's remember, what goes around comes around...often in a big way! So I believe they will get what is coming to them scold

The Movers are Booked

Thanks Loner - I did s very significant purge when I moved from a 4 bedroom with garage and yard to a 700 square foot apartment 1 whole year ago...and yes, I have started going through the stuff again...I am a paper magnet! grin I just want to keep the weight/cost down for sure -and replace with stuff when we get there! I think it is time for a new set of dishes! There are things I cannot part with...but stuff I thought was important even a year ago, isn't - kinda wierd.
Yes, I actually read an article about the same issue at the Yellowknife NWT dump. I was at the Whitehorse dump and it doesn't appear to have too much to offer. But they do have some good stores and Sears delivers up there too! angel

60 year old gives birth to twins...???

I really don't want appear to be sitting in judgment. I think that the biggest issue for me is that most of these multiples being born to women far past normal "birthing" age are significantly premature - and the odds are stacked against them for that reason alone -let alone the needles and surgeries and other invasive procedures they have to endure...very mad It enrages me. They (babies) are the ones that are going through who knows what, maybe for their entire lives, in order to give a 60 year old her dream? doh And, I agree with Kim, a) because I have been a very hand son G-ma before I was 40, let me tell you, it is alot harder than is was 10 years before...and I am active and healthy. b) There are so many children available to foster and to adopt, to give one's nurturing to, to love and protect and chase after - why on earth bring more into the world that may require extensive, long term care? The costs to our health and social systems, to our societies? I don't know, I just think that this is a very selfish act on the part of the higher end of middle age women.
We all take risks having a baby, no matter our age. But, we know that the older we get, the risks for both mom and babe increase...again, just makes me wonder, what the hell is being thought here??? angel

60 year old gives birth to twins...???

confused confused

Just my opinion..but, WTF is she thinking? I realize we all have the freedom of choice, but??? That is like me, in 16 years, having yet another C section and trying to recover and keep up with twins...if they make it out of NICUdoh Poor little babes did not ask for what is probably in store for them medically...frustrated I just don't get it...

Thoughts?

Just a Thought....

The Movers are Booked

applause So the movers are booked...at the end of March, my entire household will be hauled over 3 provinces to that magical territory...YIKES! (a good kinda yikes)smitten
Of course, I have moved before, but never this long of a haul...ADVICE... this is all X amount of $ by weight...is it best to dump some stuff, save the bucks and replace? Hints to pack super efficiently and lightly. What not to pack, but take in the car with me and the kiddo? All ideas and hints and advice greatly appreciated. You all have a great day!!wine angel

Just a Thought....

Can't have a fire when there is nothing left to burn....wink

London's snow is falling down, falling down ...

laugh
Of course, as a lifelong prairie girl, I find it utterly amazing the inability that some have when it comes to dealing with snow, but best wishes to the Brits! One good thing, hey Vancouver, you aren't looking so bad when it comes to coping with the winter!
Did you all check out Heathrow?? Wow...and I thought sitting in a plane for a few hours waiting to de-ice was irritating (which it was)!angel
Anyways, what are some of the worst storms that you experienced!wave
