Yeah!!! She is fighting the fight! Dreaming about her Irish roots? Good! She will gather and build that notorious Irish strength, resilience and stubbornness (yes, it can be a positive virtue) - she is getting ready to kick the hell out of this horrid disease! People are beating it - some people are living with it - but fewer are dying from it...gotta stay positive!
Hey K...if you happen to check in, just wanted you to know that still thinking nothing bit positive thoughts....prayers and all sorts of good stuff. Hope that all is going better than expected....hugs
Welcome soap! There really is a great group of people on here and there are times that it can get lively, full of discussion, humour; often damn near wet your pants/laugh so hard your tummy hurts funny, honest and sincere support and the kind of respect where we tend to agree to disagree, if that is what we need to do! There are times where the forum is busy and times it is not, for whatever reason...and sometimes the dynamics change for a time...but every one is busy with their lives in the real world! AND.... then there is Brew.... There he goes again, trying to get the new girl to drop her drawers! So again, welcome to you soap....enjoy and please join in or start a little something - eyes
I don't usually post on Int forum, but I cannot stop myself.
Sweetie, I suggest you open the door and you look on the horizon, pick up your bags, start driving or walking or thumbing, whatever you have to do...and don't look back. You are way too young to put this on your plate, please leave before you have a level of commitment to him, or worse yet, kids. Loving him is not enough It will not fix him, it will not save him...you cannot control his addictions or his sobriety...you are powerless. Sorry, it may hurt, but it is a fact. Loving yourself is what matters and what can save you, and maybe you should figure out why you believe this is all that you deserve in life...maybe if you loved and looked after you, you would not settle...Please, no hard feelings. I urge you, like several others to seek out Alanon, go, read, learn, follow, ask, reach out....Good luck young one
Thanks Gord, I do feel very much at home when I am there and am looking forward to that trip up when I don't have to leave, cuz that really sucks! Just need to find a job and I want my own place for now...so have to find a place to rent for now. But I really do find it welcoming and beautiful there...
geo! As if we would ever entertain such thoughts!!! Mind you, I am not going to Inuvik remember! I really enjoyed it the 2 times I was there (and not like that ) it is so beautiful - am excited to be there in the summer!
Yes, the same goes for pretty well most renters, unless other arrangements have been agreed to - except the eviction thing, pretty sure that would not be grounds for eviction - but . I was being somewhat sarcastic (there's s surprise)about the new Federal Budget and commented on one particular piece of it....
Kim...you look after you and your mom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all now and especially on Friday, okay. I'll keep sending stuff, you keep reading, don't need to reply....no words needed - just do what you need to do. Keep believing and thinking good thoughts (that's what you told me ) Who knows, maybe we will catch up with each other when I am blazing a trail through Edmonton on my way up north...
Just wondering...what do you all think of the new budget? Apparently there is a tax exemption for Homeowners who renovate - hmmm....so this benefits tax payers who rent their homes how? The PC government pulled something like this in Saskatchewan in the 80's - rather, they provided cash rebates for home improvements to the home owners - things like window blinds and dishwashers were included - you know the necessities! JMHO - but do hear may be things in this "historical" budget that will be appreciated by all - we shall see
Sometimes a door to happiness is closed - but another one is opened in its place; The problem is, we often spend so much time looking back at the closed door, we fail to notice the open one in front of us....
Yep...but me thinks we best not hold our breath waiting for the floodgate to open Brew! I'll keep my ears and eyes open - always willing to share; and love to read a good giggle - even if it is at the expense of the less fortunate... ...and then I go and streak my hair blonde ????
Here I guess..? But that wasn't really meeting (face to face)...so maybe the airport when he met my plane?....but that didn't feel strange - it was right. Whatever, yep, we wound up dating and spending as much time together as our lives allow...and Have started making the arrangements and sending out resumes 'cuz we have decided that we want to be together and that 1600 miles is way too many miles to have between us,and I am relocating to Whitehorse! Wowsers !!
Yes I do...I believe that they should be held legally accountable for all of the damage that they do to their children, born or not....criminal negligence or negligent indifference cause bodily harm? assault with a weapon? attempted murder? The list goes on and I am serious. There is no measure of the cost to the human lives affected and damaged, not to mention out social and health care system. As we do understand and realize that the damage second hand smoke does (as opposed to our parent and grandparents generation), I do think that it should be taken seriously and as a society we should just do whatever we can to ensure the health of our future generations. You are right K, there are so many horrible things that need to be addressed and dealt with consistently and adequately. However, there are always issues that are in fashion...and right now it is smoking, so it gets the attention and action. It is frustrating to say the least... I think it requires $$$, the right group of people, the right supporters and the highest level of commitment for laws to be legislated...and that all may be a very small part of the problem.
I agree with this law...not sure how it will be enforced or how fines etc. will be collected - however, I am sure it will be in much the same manner as other enforced laws; ie. seatbelts, DUIs, etc. I am confused because I don't agree when people don't wear their seatbelts or helmets or what have you, and I think they are idiots if they defy the law - and therefore, they should face the consequences of breaking the law. I truly believe that only morons would drive under the influence of booze or drugs, that it endangers several lives, ....and that is why there is a law against it. I am sure that the powers that be will figure out a way by which this can be enforced and punished in an efficient and fair manner. I think what they are trying to do is to discourage people;and often, through the proverbial wallet is the best route! JMHO
I am an ex-smoker - TOMORROW IT WILL BE 2 YEARS!!! I quit for a variety of reasons, the $$$, my health, but first and foremost, I wanted to set a positive example to my kids. My complexion is better, my hair, nails and teeth are healthier, I don't stink like smoke, nor do my clothes I despise the smell of cigarette smoke now. Now, I will buy more expensive perfume, because the smell isn't ruined by smoke. (believe me, you can put on the nicest perfume, but people still smell the smoke first and most!)It really mattered to me that my future partner be a non or ex smoker.....and, glory be, he is (an ex-smoker)! I know quitting is very hard and support and encourage anyone attempting....but I can tell you, it is so worth it!
Thanks for the info - it was easy to do online. Will just continue to hang up fro the next month. Hmmm...when I am in a pissy mood, I tend to take it out on the telemarketers - the ones that are giving me the last chance to lower my credit card interest - love pressing 1 and then yelling F**k Off into the phone! Make me feel better....
How right you be Gordy, this is VERY VERY OLD, like over 4 months ago - and yep keyboard icon on bottom right holds the answer - very simple! In fact, randomly, it still occurs - just to keep me on my toes!
K, GLEN[/b] may start to wonder who this "Gord" is that you are referring to... Too funny...as long as I don't start calling him by another man's name - can you imagine? No worries, know your mind is on a million plus things.
The same to you and yours K!!! My Scotch background and family puts far more importance in celebrating the New Year than in Christmas!! It is vital that the first visitor through your doorway in the New Year has dark hair.
RE: Hello everyone
Yep, think you have a point Kim, sometimes it is best to say nothing at all - so "nothing at all"...
