I just posted a thread to explain for Kim. PLEASE READ AND RESPOND...
Merry Christmas Everyone and much health, happiness and love to you and yours in the coming year!
It has warmed up here in Whitehorse. Am greateful that I flew when I did, or would have been stuck in Vancouver airport for a few days...2 hours on the tarmack and 4 hours late was bad enough!
One of our own here, KDH (Kim) is currently and unexpectedly faced with an extreme health crisis in her immediate family. Kim's family is very close. I am not going into details, out of respect, but Kim's very active and loving Mom has been slammed with something very serious. I am asking each and every one of you to send your best positive thoughts, your prayers, what ever it is you can do to Kim's Mother, her Father and all of the family and friend who are going to be walking and fighting this battle with Mrs. H. This too is a challenge that as a new couple Kim and Brian will be meeting - let's pray for them to find and keep the courage and fortitude to get through this strong and together. You are in our thoughts Kim and prayers - everyday - to your Mom and Dad - to you all. Look after yourself, you are no good to anyone if you do not. And remember the Serenity Prayer - I pray you will have the serenity, wisdom and courage that will help get you through this.
Yes, it's serves us well as humans to look around and see what is going on doesn't it.... Yet, perhaps there are times in life, that to protect our soul, it would be easier to live by the whole "ignorance is bliss" thing?
Sears Catalog Kid, awesome selection of Retro chrome toasters - can hardly go wrong with the Cuisinart line - love my Griddler! But beware...the force may suck you it. Talking about your mom and dad's toaster reminds me of the one my grandparents were using not so long ago - one of those chrome flip ones - slice on each side...with a cloth cord no less Did a fabulous job though. Confession: My waffle Iron is one my Grandpa bought in the mid 40's. I still use it, although the handle is broken and it is very heavy and gets sooooo hot. It has the cloth cord as well. I just continue to use it because I can make the best waffles with it...do what ya gotta do
Yayyy...it is only -23 here today; that means that when I stop somewhere for over an hour I don't have to keep starting the car or leave it running, nor do I have to drive very far before the temp raises! What a difference 7 degrees makes! It will make it just a bit easier for everyone...AND the sun in shining - gotta wear shades
It does sound simple, but often, according to Murphy's :aw, the simplest things in life are often the most difficult. But...perhaps you have revealed a bit of a "man secret"? You want your own "tool girl" <<grunt, grunt ala Tim the tool man Taylor>>
Complete "I hear you" about the toasters. Love the ones in restaurants - put the bread in one side of the belt, out she shoots as toast at the other - pricey and big! I go through toasters fairly quickly too, expensive/cheap/2 and 4 slice...no matter When I smoked, I probably burnt out many of them lighting smokes I am still looking for a coffee pot that can stand the test of time - seriously thinking of bringing out the aluminum perk from the camping dishes...
Not getting a new purse, will use the nice black one I bought in the summer - decided to spend the money on getting my nails done
-30 here...but the car started lickity split! Amazing how this power thing works when the cords and plugs are working!!! It is cold, but thus is the turn of the seasons, just as it is meant to be...it is another confirmation that most is right with the world Been happening for centuries, year in and year out and I truly hope for many to come This cold has its reasons for being here and our lives as we know it would be altered, in a not so good way, if things changed! And then we still would be complaining...human nature!
Bundle up, layer up, snuggle up ...smile and laugh, it helps....this too will pass! Yep, it's a Monday morning and I am like little mary sunshine!!!
The warmest Season's Greeting to you and yours Jen! From me and mine All the best in the New Year, with blessing of good health and happiness and all the other good stuff we need!
Every time I go to Winners a force pulls me to the purse display - so I go and I browse and... I want a new purse; I don't need a new purse I just really would like a nice purse - not shoes; I would in fact go barefoot if I could have a really nice purse....Anyways, I was having a talk with myself and said "what the hell do you need another purse for." To which a reply came from the other side of the display rack "What the hell do they need another tool for?" We giggled, a sisterhood bond formed...and I said, I would never know if he bought new tools - he will know I have a new purse, he notices these things
Hmmm...got me to thinking and was a topic of conversation tonight. He says, each tool has a specific purpose...but each purse does the same thing....I say, my winter coats are black and my purse is brown...I think I need a black purse....He laughs and says, oh yeah, I need a new set of screwdrivers cuz the handle don't match my tool box...and on we went, in a good natured banter. Yes, I will probably get a new purse and that is okay....but this really got me to thinking about how we, as opposite genders, look at things, just general things in different ways.
It is still -28 here - driving on square tires today And jackets are making that loud crackling noise! Forgot, so am going to run and get some wood to take the edge off tonight. Have to dress warm and go through the Living Nativity and watch Phoenix sing....It will be cold, but so worth it
On a brighter note, the extended weather forecast says we will be warming up here in PA next week to above 0; as well as the North West part of the country, so ...be prepared for warm temps and storms!!!
So...I get the same name as the frigging blow up doll? Hmmph, the bargain one that could pass as a passenger in your truck to get through the car pool lane? ....
Tonight won't be too bad here, but tomorrow and the next night are supposed to go down into the -30s. I started a fire last night in the fireplace - and I sat and fed it one piece of ugly paper at a time - huge box full of words and numbers and stuff that did nothing but bind me to the past - it was a wonderful feeling watching flames eat away so much pain...
Well...Mr.Brew, you rendered me speechless, if only for a moment and believe me that is not easily done... There are a few good men who would attest to fact that there are very few ways to successfully shut me up.... ....and I will say no more ...I never hear that version of the rest of the saying... go figure
Superb - reminds me of all the texts out there in the psych and social work classes I took and the "Theories and schools of thought" etc. etc. Through it all as a mental health worker and dealing with so many government and non government agencies - I started asking "what the f*ck happened to the theory and school of simple common sense?" Nobody could answer me...hmmm...wonder if a $200 textbook about that would sell?
You proved it Brew!!! It really does take small things to amuse small minds....and let me tell you, if a minuscule drop of pee equates to a present I really dunno Brew? wish I could help you out though...The biffy is but a quick step from the computer
I will have ya know sweetie that I am so far from desperate and lonely, nor am I seeking love In fact Gordy, I will be headed up your way again, to spend time with my man during the holidays-never know may run into you at Tims! Brew is just being silly, thinks it would be a real hoot if I laughed so hard I pissed my pants!(it has happened) and I have spewed pink lemonade all over my keyboard laughing at the forums! It is all in good humour and fun, I assure you RIGHT BREW....
Oh, I will...and it will all be as good as it can be and and what it is meant to be It won't be perfect and it shouldn't be because it's the real world
Hmmm, to go with your gut instinct or not? That is the question... I am probably one of the most least likely people to be scared of, most of the time..haha
Is that a Freudian slip or what... Are you worried about the big "he" bubble between somewhere else? what was I thinking? Of course we would be very careful about the ummm, bits Don't you worry Brew...{fingers crossed behind my back}
At 3, my grand daughter developed her own words and we are still working on changing them - but some do make sense
- she got jacket and coat confused, so called them all jackoats - she calls combines last night and yesterday into lasterday - tomorrow morning is tomorning - she calls the trampoline a bouncapine
Kind of odd, but smart in her own way; they do see the world in a different way...
Do you remember things you have seen and heard kids say that make you think "I should send that into Reader's Digest"?
Here are a few from my crew:
Back in the day when I did the Jane Fonda exercise thing, my then 4 year old son told his Dad that he exercised with Mommy that day. His Dad asked him "did you run on the spot"? The reply was in a very patronizing tone...." ummm, no. We ran on the carpet".
Several years later, at about the 12, the same son was reading his teen age sister's to-do list she had left on the table. After a few seconds, he got his sister's attention and asked her "who the hell is Bobby Pins"? We were all very confused for a moment, until he pointed out her list and where it said PICK UP BOBBY PINS. Needless to say, when one of us does or says something a bit stupid, we are often referred to as Bobby Pins.
nuh-uhh, I want Kim to play too...not going to "touch" the whole monkey thing but is it kinda like "don't trouble trouble til trouble troubles you?" All is in purely good fun...
