Hi Blue. My warmest congratulations...it is awesome being a Grandma - our little Phoenix was born and had to go to NICU with a heart murmur, and yes, the world stopped for us that day - but she is healthy and perfect, everything worked out And, a baby for Christmas... what a fabulous gift. Just keep thinking positive thoughts and you have to believe, Owen will be just fine...we will be thinking of you and yours. Just think, next Christmas, what a blast he will be!!!
Well Brew, that could go really good or really, really bad!!! ...and, there is only one man that I will get wrapped up in anything with But, I do think that the WEST should take on the east in a bit of snowball fight! HAHA, we will kick their butts - like you said, they had to call in the Army when they had a snowstorm - something us westerners deal with more once a year!
Hold on Curvy, Brew is spoiled and going moldy by the BC moisture!!! And I am thinking he is a little "brittle" - think we better wrap him in bubble wrap -
I like the cold, the crunch of the snow and all else that comes with the season. I would rather get a bit cold than sweat and melt in the sweltering hot of summer. For me, it is actually nice to get a bit cold outside and then come in a feel the warmth. For everything there is a season, and I enjoy this season before us...
For me, it is I know that forgiveness is for me not them and forgiveness does not mean I have to forget (although I am trying hard). It takes way too much energy to be angry or mad and feel that knot in your gut; energy that could be so well spent elsewhere. We, as humans, cannot move forward to where we are meant to go if we continue to live in the past. There is a time for everything and everything has its season. Compassion and human respect for those of us who have wronged us (some horribly) is the ultimate revenge, in a way, because it is not what they expect nor what they would be capable of doing!!! JMO -
JMO, but I think don't knock it til you try it. Whether riding or driving, nothing compares the feeling, down the open road - you are able to notice so much more beauty of the land...it is a sense of freedom...hard to describe but easy on the soul. Classic cars, muscle cars - the rumble of a well tuned motor, 1/4 mile races, a man that knows how to fix them and does...it's all hot; a good kinda hot. Give me a guy that can pull wrenches anyday
Like Kid said, we still have "mounties" - I guess you could describe them as our "national" police force; much like your FBI, but they are also steeped in tradition and history; Thus the red serge (uniform) and the "mounted" thing. Most major cities have their own city police force as well. I think one of the myths surrounding the RCMP is that they where their red serge all the time and their stetson as well. In fact, on regular duty, they just wear normal uniforms and many are plain clothes officers.
The fact that as an adult you want to learn about Canada is terrific. Canada is a beautiful and diverse county and Canadians are very good people!
You should find a video of an RCMP Musical ride - pretty neat
I disagree...not sure where or how that myth started, but it is not a "word" that we use here, nor do I hear it. Much like the myths surrounding the RCMP, the weather, our lack of technology and so on and so on. I have some extended cousins through out the US and at a family reunion in Ashley, ND; they very seriously believed that we drove around on snow mobiles year round and that the RCMP were still patrolling the "wilds" of Canada via horseback. They did understand provinces, nor could they name them...yet in grade 5 social studies, we learned about all the countries in the world; and had to name and locate all of the states and know their capitals...just find the differences very interesting
Don't think it is too hot at all; there has been some discussion about this very topic on the "we may be boring but things are shaking at the capital" thread
It is -15 here (northern Saskatchewan)- sunny and no wind. Nice day actually; and it has been, except when the wind decides to go on a rampage. It would be nice if the forestry areas of BC and AB could get a good spell of -35 or less to kill off the pine beetles.
Weird weather though; -35 in Ontario, yet only -7 in Whitehorse??? You all have a good day, stay warm or cold, whatever it may be your soul desires...
Wowsers Kim! I am so happy that you aren't pissed - I just could not keep my mouth shut anymore!!! And, now, "B" is Brian - that feels better - felt like I was referring to an alien or imaginary man!!!
When you talk about the trip - It is so true. My parents did long hauls throughout North America with a major company. It was brutal, they fought every waking moment I am sure. Seriously, I remember when my mom called from Tennessee, first to find out about her newborn grandson and to tell me that she would be seeking a divorce lawyer as soon as they got back home. This happened more than once!!! And they had been married for a long time. They are not trucking any more and yes, they are still together!!
If all goes well on the homefront and the planets continue to align correctly (joking), I will be up there for 2 weeks. You should make another trip, so we can have lunch! And you can help me figure out the logistics of moving a household 1700 miles I will email you in a few
Merry Magical Christmas Kim and Brian - this one will be unique and never repeatable - relish it and revel in it all - because it has been given to you.... for a very special reason :heartwings:
Okay ya smartarse!!1 I forgot, you are the little paper clip dude that hangs around in the monitors and knocks on the screen....*&%#?/.... I meant grandma - but hey Brew I could spin you yarn about what is a GRANDMAN with out working my little ole' brain too hard...
Kid, there are several methods that can be used to create warmth to us humans...hmmmm...one could almost write a book. You can layer, several thin but heat efficient fabrics - the natural route, ie. wool, silk, cotton etc. or you can go the man made route with the whole line of "therma" brands, or, food and drink that warms the body, mind and soul or activities that create body warmth and finally, snuggling up to another body and using that in conjunction with one, some or all of the aforementioned - and you should be feeling some warmth If not, I send you warm wishes and say stick to your goals and you will soon be in BC
Very funny Brew. My youngest boy was such of fan of Red Green, started calling him Blue Green; give him duct tape and cardboard and the possibilities were endless I am still required to keep a steady supply of duct tape coming into the house, and he discovered wd-40 when he turned 13
May I add to your daily thought?
In the spirit of duct tape - "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side & a dark side, and it holds the universe together"
And a personal favorite - "Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield"
Mr. Brew...will have ya know I come from a long line of grannies. Phoenix has not only me. the best g-ma ever (on so many levels); she has great grandmas and is very blessed to have a great great grandman - my Granny!!! - now there is a link with some history We are kind of a long living stubborn bunch!!!
Must admit I "borrowed" this off the Int. site - but just had to, cuz I did, because I wanted to - needed to share it -
Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.
The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes..
This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.
When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons."
Fantastic piece of information Brew! My sis has her Masters in History and ummmm...history is NOT my forte - but...maybe I will finally know something she doesn't know!!!
KHD100 wrote: false.... not getting married soon, but engaged before/by Christmas.
KDH dropped a huge HINT on the true or false thread....SO AM JUST EXPANDING
I am like a little kid that is about to burst
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kim and her Fiance (B) on their very recent engagement. The ring in beautiful and I know that K is over the top happy.
So blessing to this couple and may they keep their happily ever after...
Hi Loner, that is what always was like on the farm...supper was usually just the leftovers or what have you...except when it was harvest, then we took a big supper out ...wow! That was a complete flashback, in a good way, {sitting in the back of the half ton eating supper and getting the last of my grandpa's sweet coffee out of the sealer! And then taking turns riding in the combine or the truck, super cool in the dark and you are all of 8 years old. Remember no matter what direction you looked, there were the lights of the district's machinery as far as the eye could see...} Times have changed
Not sure if this one has made the rounds...if it did; oops, if not; have a giggle
An old cowboy sat down at the Starbucks and ordered a cup of coffee. As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him.
She turned to the cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?'
He replied, 'Well, I've spent my whole life breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, doctoring calves, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, working on tractors, and feeding my dogs,so I guess I am a cowboy.'
She said, 'I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about women. When I shower, I think about women. When I watch TV, I think about women.I even think about women when I eat.It seems that everything makes me think of women.' The two sat sipping in silence.
A little while later, a man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?'
He replied, 'I always thought I was, but I just found out that I'm a lesbian.'
I am a lucky mom, they do appreciate good ole stick to your ribs grub. They do love the burgers though and pizza, but when a 13 year old active and athletic boy has grown from 5'4 tp 6' in less than a year, he is an eating machine...grazing 24/7 But it is okay, he is healthy and growing and I love him and his eating machine buddies who stop in for eats!!!
