Okydoky People!!!! Today (as Kim reminded Us in "cold weather")is the last day of SUMMER 2008!!!
Soooo....let's all give a little effort toward the positives in our respective lives and share our summer memories and our hopes for the coming seasons.....

Watching the View this morn, and could not believe that it was said that never, has a politician had to campaign for such an important position (vice president of the USA)in such a short time????? Is it fair? yadayadayayda....poor Sarah Palin (chosen by McCain to be his VP)

HELLO! Here in the Great White North, CANADA, Had a Federal Election called on what? Monday, Sept. 8 - the length of the campaign will be what? roughly 5 weeks, cuz we go to the polls on October 14th people! Yep, we have 5 weeks to elect the next leader of a very large and diverse country, and yes somewhat powerful (we got the oil and the clean water!)... WTH, PITTER PATTER, LET'S GET ATTER! Thoughts people - is this enough time?....just curious

Find it very easy to remember exactly where I was and what I was thinking whilst seeing the horror unfolding on CNN. It is not about borders or nationality, it became good vs. evil; right vs. wrong. I have very strong roots with the USA and several extended family through out the states, yet that did not even cross my mind at the time. The days that followed and as the totality of this terror became clearer and clearer, we could not help but feel assaulted as humans, feel fear, yet rise above and say hell no! My heart cracked over and over for every name, every family, every cop and firefighter, every loss...and today as we remember, as a world....tears still fill my eyes and I still clearly feel that sense of confusion and fear. There are no words available to describe that day, when our world stood still - but today I can say, with clarity and sincerity, Please do not forget, ever, and give thanks, in your own personal way, for those who sacrificed themselves and continue to do so every day, without thought for themselves. In memory and with gratefulness

Hi again...isn't it terrific that throughout our country, we have so many beautiful places, in all the province and territories! We are fortunate. I too enjoy Facebook - great way to keep in touch with the kids, friends and other significant people - lots to do/very different venue than this. Again, welcome and have fun here! T

Guess what? I have read and STUDIED all the facts, apparently ones you have chosen to not include in your indepth research....I have chosen, very carefully, after thorough research and investigation, when I was in university about 8 or so years ago, to believe the facts that I do. Fo crying out loud, there are many sites on many different subjects, doesn't mean they are all correct -
Perhaps, I could suggest to you to continue your research and studies on this subject and talk to respected professionals from both sides and those who have been immersed in the world of addiction - then make an educated guess and solidify your opinion.
Rule of a good thesis - say what you want - just back it up with material that can be proven credible and EVIDENCE. You may have your opinion, that is why we live where we live, why my family members fought wars. But, I can assure you that 1 effing day in my life a few years ago and you would have a very different opinion.

I certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but I do know that enabling and making it easier (one in the same) is not the answer. Perhaps, as a society, we should look at what is going on in our world that urges people to self medicate? There is a root to all of this, guns; drugs; violence etc. Not one is better than the other - I have learned from my education and profession that there is a very high correlation between mental illness and drug addiction - it is termed "duel diagnosis". What comes first, hasn't really been established - but they tend to walk hand in hand - so maybe that can be start, and exploration into the health of our society as a whole, and start looking after what is going on with our own. People are still going to make their own choices regardless; I personally, will never pat someone on the head and say that is is "okay".

Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence the 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile)phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call.. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

It can take up to 7o days for Listeria to develop fully and in the majority of cases, can be successfully treated with antibiotics. So, If you do not have a compromised immune system and if you have not abused antibiotics to the point that you are immune to them, if you do develop Listeria, odds are in your favour.
As well, it is PROCESSED meats and food products that are in question here - not all types of meats. Let's not make this more than it is - simply refrain from buying, and using processed meats and foods. Cook a roast or a ham, slice it and use that for sandwiches....make your own sauce and other stuff.
JMO, but we all would be healthier if we ate a whole lot less of processed foods to begin with, regardless of scares like this. People were not sick like they are now, nor did children have the "behaviour" problems and allergies that are so predominant now, when we relied far less on the easier and expensive processed foods.
