If your married or in some cases living together, you may not be able to sell the home without the consent of your estranged partner. If your still married you may not be able to get a mortgage on a house without consent by your estranged partner. If you have a large savings account and you pay even one bill for a home you both own the account becomes family property. Your car may also disappear if you let your spouse ride in it, family property. Your stuff, if you want to keep it should be kept separate especially bank accounts and investments. Even a rpersons pension that they receive down the road can be viewed as family property and a portion of it given to a spouse even though you remarry!
NOTE: When you retire and they ask you if you want your pension to go to your wife / husband make sure you have REVOKABLE beside their name because you may divorce and re-marry! I made that error!
Men haven't continued to reply to the poll so their stats haven't changed, still about 70% in favor of pre-nup or contract! Women have continued to respond and if you add the yes vote and half the maybe vote as a % of the total women's vote it looks now to be much higher at about 62%
It seems that now there is a better chance of men and women forming a permanent relationship based on a pre-nup or contract agreement!

Means there are so far 38% of women who could not form a permanent relationship with 70% of the guys when con a pre-nup is taken into consideration.
Fortunately there are always about twice as many men on a dating site as there are women!
Which might raise another question, 50% or more of men will not have a relationship with a woman on the dating site for one reason or another ... is my logic flawed, I am a little tired!
Sorry! Misinterpreted what you wrote! That's nice! Your lucky to have married your highschool sweetheart. I went to a technicsl school full of guys, a couple of them wanted to marry me but I was focused on women! For sure I never dropped the soap in the gym shower when they were around!
Your profile says your divorced and the other women that said no or maybe are also probably divorced, separated or have come out of a long term relationship so I can see what you say isn't all that valid! People have great intentions and expectations when they go into a 'permanent' relationship but you yourself prove my point. Please n, no offence intended ... you seem like a wonderful person nut if you didn't want to say yes to a pre-nup than 70% of the guys in this small poll wouldn't sorm a permanent relationship with you, is that not true?
I think if some women would re-think this issue and wanted to reassure a fellow that her reason for wanting to marry or live together was only for love and sharing the living expenses then more unions would be formed, according to this small poll! According to my other poll very few women indicated they would NOT marry for anything other than love ... so why not a contract?

IMHO! I think you stated a fact / facts most men think about before going into a 'permanent' relationship with a woman! I feel the same way and am too old to recover financial loss. The courts don't treat guys very nice and usually side with the woman. If you think about what the poll is showing , it means a lot of guys are worried about this issue and may not enter a relation ship with a woman that says no or vice versa! Maybe a reason some people are alone today! The majority of men want it and the majority of women don't stating trust and love as factors but when the relationship ends trust and love are gone and so is someones life savings!

People don't separate or divorce under loving circumstances! They divorce because their upset, angry, frustrated, dissilusioned or some other bad reason! By this time love is gone and revenge is haded to a lawyer to doll out to the spouse. If a woman has a home, assets, pensions or whatever they can be tapped into by a man who isn't happy with her actions in the relationship and vice versa! Yes even pensions are up for grab when you retire! That may very well be true but very sad! I hope you your kidding and find a lasting, loving relationship! My best friend, my brother, died last November and I wish I could have spent more time with him! If your serious you should consider spending a lot more time with the people that care about you ~~~~~
Similar to your grandfather, my eldest brother married a woman with three grown children! His estate included 4 houses a place in Florida and a place up north! Each of her children ended up with a house and money in their pockets! They were married for about 30 years and everything went to my brothers wife and she doled it out. My brother had a child from another relationship but kind of left out and didn't get half as much! There should ave been an airtight will and at the begining of the relationship a prenup!
