RE: Victory Garden

Just to let you all know, some people already have gardens every year.

And preserve the bounty by canning and freezing.

And keep livestock for meat & eggs.

It has nothing to do with "energy" or the present administration.

It has to do with lifestyle and self-sufficiency.

RE: Wise man that Warren Buffet fellow...

If you don't won't feel comfortable owning something for 10 years, then don't own it for 10 minutes.

RE: st paddys day cornbeef cabbage your take on it?

What??

Did I break a Corned Beef and Cabbage Law??? laugh

I know, probably the potatoes should be white and the turnip shouldn't be in there.

But I have beer...grin......cheers

RE: st paddys day cornbeef cabbage your take on it?

I'm cooking it in a crock pot right now....turnip and carrots layered with the corned beef on top. Red potatoes with the cabbage around the sides went into pot after a couple of hours of cooking. Now it will cook until the corned beef is tender.

RE: why honest people have no luck?

Separated - married but not living together.

RE: Reconnecting

I'd go back to the college years too.

It was wonderful to be young and free in the 70's.

And when I went back to finish my degrees when I was 39, it was great to be surrounded by smart, hard working people.

RE: Sustainable Communities

What I have found is that people find it hard to find time to contribute to a commuity effort and have a job as well.

Tending a garden, raising livestock, canning, drying foods, sewing, getting wood for heat, bartering....all those things are very labor intensive and take lots of time.

I know because that's what I do.
