I am completely against moving animals away from their natural habitat (that's when they become "exotic". In some cases it is also bad for the fauna at the new location, where a few exotics can turn the balance up side down.
I do not detest it because they might hurt someone, that is a secondary issue, however tragic it might be. The animals did not ask to be brought away from their homes and forced into an alien space.
We have pets, domesticated for years and eons. This "want more" mentality is really scary
Yes, penalty and restrictions wherever responsibility is involved, as they've shown they do not know how to handle such a thing.
I do not know how high on the scale they are or how their venom works, but here in Spain we are supposed to have one of them Vipers that needs immediate attention with serum.
It just shows, there are things we really need to focus on, like Malaria, Dengue, TBC, Snake bites and so on. Not anti bacterial floor cleaning products for your tiled floors.
But then, the buyers would of course not have the money to pay for the nice offices and the 4-colour ads in the posh magazines.
Very well, fresh greenery at your place then! I've been working on making house owners in this area collect the water from the few rains we get, as the amount of rain is pretty high when it happens.
It's tough to get the message out, though. With a little community engagement it will happen, it just takes a little perseverance.
Wind turbine and solar power etc..I will definately try and do that...If I can ever sell mine lol
Anyone wanna buy a house???[/quote]
Is it too expensive to convert that one?
Wind power makes a little noise of course, but if the neighbors are to close, solar heated water should take most of the troubles away and the rest can be made with solar electrics.
The range of alternative sources is nearly endless, it is not that difficult to get an old windy cave to live up to modern standards including sustainable energy, really
You are a bit spoiled up in the north with pretty decent water in the ground, as they are in Scandinavia.
I guess that is how we found out, to try to use active filters on it would only make us sick.
The purification I've been involved with are for use with Tropical and sub-tropical surface waters, a different ball game but the same rules apply.
Something us westerners seldom need to think about, while the treatment companies silently moved over from chemical purification to natural biologic filters. Interestingly, the water quality have gone up, cost of purification down, but the general public is kept out of the info stream, as the fear of germs has such a rigid grip on our minds.
And back to your water - do you collect day water too?
Gore did more than we can thank him for by raising awareness in such an otherwise boring subject as a degree more or less for tomorrow.
What have happened is that finally countries are seriously working on getting out of the oil-trap, contemplating use of chemical substances, avoiding obvious pollution and created funds to restore natural habitats.
The latest development in Bagua, Peru, shows what it have done to the mind of people around the world. It is no longer ok to bulldoze peoples backgarden, just because they do not owned into our materialistic world.
Global warming or not, we have finally got a mood of "clean the mess up", and I say it is about time.
Some vaccines have been real treats, and without them we would suffer, that is true.
But to think we could not live through life without a box of pills within reach... The places I lived, the different grounds for all kinds of bacterial culture without needing pills nor having stomach issues or anything else is enough proof to me.
Then again, my mom gave me a headache pill at most if I had a really bad cold with fever as a kid.
A couple of summers ago swam into two jelly fishes down here. They stung like a bouquet of nettles, leaving to swollen red imprints.
When I reached the beach people wanted to call the medics and rush me to the drugstore for some kind of treatment. I refused, since I recognized that burning/scratching feeling to be very similar to nettles.
I do not have allergies, other than to cold temperatures, and the sensation wore off within an hour. Nettles burns for days, and no one is rushing to the hospital for those (accept the allergic, of course).
Here in south Spain they have a love affair with the Drugstore and it is the same in Romania. The strongest and fastest cure is the only thing that matters, and it should be in the form of multi-action pills or they have no faith in it.
Thought this worth mentioning - when we set up water purification we need to take care to not clean the water too well !
It's disastrous to the body and can lead to death.
The scare about germs and such is terrible. I went to "Electrolux Business School" in my youth, where we used the microbes living in the mattresses as a reason to sell more machines to clean them better.
But these small creatures take care of all that we drop around us - hair, skin, salts etc. If they were not, our environment would become really filthy, they are the wardens we can not spare. Electrolux knew this, and told us, but we were still thought to use it as an argument for upgrades.
That time there were no chemicals involved, but it shows playing a card in a false way to make more money. What could a medic company not do with similar ethics?
When progress is only about the money it can make, then it is. But you named that one already - I guess that is what it comes down to, unwillingness to share - the big Greed.
Another reason I am a linux fan
This topic is wide, medics is the perfect spot to start.
Our docs today know well where their knowledge come from, but the scientist rather they did not...
The symbol of the docs is still medieval. The "witches" in the forests found the cures that later got distilled and "perfected" into a multinational business with weird names no-one living can derive from it's original sources.
Keeping that in memory together with the other knowledge - let your kid get sick while a kid and he will become healthy - and the third knowledge - perfectly clean environments create allergies - we really should know better...
RE: Have you been banned from CS?
Not banned from, but pretty bound by...
