RE: What is....

There would be less to spread if you and your ilk would refrain from letting it drool out of your gaping apertures you know.
The spreading is done to best facilitate its absorption into the earth similar to mulching and the process of fertilization.
Amazing how quick this type is to respond to anything that makes them have to look in a mirror?

RE: What is....

The woman of my dreams and the rest of my life with her in four days (or so... damn her teasing mind) easily covers the best.
The trolls and angry people who have nothing better to do with their lives. Even more reprehensible than scammers in my mind. At least the majority of scammers don't befoul threads with vitriol. Oh well I suppose they are here just to let us all know that no matter how bad things seem it could yet be worse. We could wake up as one of them and have to live with that shame forever.

RE: Could most humans be already robots, and we don't realise it?

I live in Canada so the prospect of sharing an existence with drones is eaily alleviated by traveling 10 minutes in any direction to avoid the consumerist mass that defacates idiocy on this globe. So I suppose I am on no side and that is the only choice for individualism.
I am more at home in nature than with the overwhelming stupidity of human congestion and the autonomous nature of this beast. Fortunately we here have more fresh water than the rest of the planet combined and enough trees to hide it all. Oh yeah and the weather keeps all but the most persistent away for 6 months of the year.

Oddly if you think about it looking down on the mass of humanity from a very high vantage point the resemblance between the human condition and an ant hill are strikingly similar. Technological ants of course. dunno

RE: Should I Continue To Go To This Church

Prayer
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for but got everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all people, most richly blessed.

RE: Should I Continue To Go To This Church

I Am
I was regretting the past and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking.
My name is I AM!
He paused.
I waited.
He continued.
When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets,
it is hard.
I am not there.
My name is not I Was.
When you live in the future with its problems and fears,
it is hard.
I am not there
My name is not I Will Be.
When you live in this moment,
It is not hard.
I am here.
My name is I AM!

The book is merely another means of diluting the truth. For all you need to know of God look to His Word and pray. He will guide you to where you should be.
When you are looking for a good pizza recipe is it neccesary to study the origin of wheat or peperoni? Or do you just go to a cookbook and find the one that helps you make the pizza? When you look for understanding of God go to His Word and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to its truth.hug

RE: Should I Continue To Go To This Church

There is an offshoot of Christianity called the Prieure de Sion that has a church in Rennes le Chateau in France with statuary of Christ and Lucifer holding up the mantle to enter the church. The book the Holy Blood the Holy Grail covers much of this mystery in great detail as does a BBC documentary. To me it is merely a secular order opposed to the Roman Catholic Church who managed to find some documentation that denounces their hierarchy, and they use this blackmail the RC Church into letting them propogate and create yet more division in the real church.
Why bother yourself with questions like that when it is all we as humans can do to follow the simplest of God's commandments? Do not let these things bother you as they have no bearing on the here and now and only waste precious time best spent seeking the Word.hug

All answers will be given in the proper time. Trust in the Lord.

What is baptism for the dead mentioned in 1 Cor. 15:29?
"Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?" (1 Cor. 15:29, NASB).

Numerous explanations have been offered for this verse ranging from the inane to the sophisticated. Mormonism (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), in particular, has claimed that this verse supports their view of baptism for the dead. In their practice, individuals go to their local Mormon temple, dress appropriately for a baptism, representatively adopt the name of a person who has died, and then the Mormon is baptized in water for that deceased person. This way, the dead person has fulfilled the requirements of salvation in the afterworld and can enjoy further spiritual benefits in the spiritual realm.

But, the Mormons are incorrect. They have usurped this verse and taken it out of context. So, let's examine 1 Cor. 15 briefly so we can see what Paul is talking about when he mentions baptism for the dead.

In Verses 1-19, the fact of Christ's resurrection is detailed by Paul. Beginning in verse 20 and going through verse 23, Paul speaks about the order of the resurrection. Christ is the first one raised -- in a glorified body -- and then who are His at His return. Next, verses 24 - 29 mention Christ's reign and the abolition of death. This is when this controversial verse occurs: "Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?"

Just north of Corinth was a city named Eleusis. This was the location of a pagan religion where baptism in the sea was practiced to guarantee a good afterlife. This religion was mention by Homer in Hymn to Demeter 478-79.2 The Corinthians were known to be heavily influenced by other customs. After all, they were in a large economic area where a great many different people frequented. It is probable that the Corinthians were being influenced by the religious practices found at Eleusis where baptism for the dead was practiced.

Paul used this example from the pagans in 1 Cor. 15:29, when he said, "...if the dead are not raised, then why are they baptized for the dead?" Paul did not say we.1 This is significant because the Christian church was not practicing baptism for the dead, but the pagans were.

Paul's point was simple. The resurrection is a reality. It is going to happen when Jesus returns. Even the pagans believe in the resurrection, otherwise, why would they baptize for the dead?

However, some are not convinced by this argument and state that the word "they" is not in the Greek and, therefore, Paul is not speaking about the pagans.. Let's take a look.

Literally, the verse is translated as "Since what will do the being immersed on behalf of the dead if wholly dead not are raised why also are they immersed on behalf of them."

The issue here is the word, "baptizontai" -- "they are baptized." It is the present, passive, indicative, 3rd person, plural. In other words, it is THEY ARE BEING BAPTIZED or, THEY ARE BAPTIZED.

I -- first person singular
you (singular) -- second person singular
he/she/it -- third person singular
we -- first person plural
you (plural) -- second person plural
they -- third person plural

It is the latter form, the third person plural (they) which the verb "baptizo" is in. Therefore, the best translation is "THEY are baptized."

Footprints in the Sand

One night a woman had a dream. She dreamed
she was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from her life.
For each scene she noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to her, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of her life flashed before her,
she looked back at the footprints in the sand.
She noticed that many times along the path of
her life there was only one set of footprints.
She also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in her life.
This really bothered her and she
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My daughter, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Mat 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites : for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Keys to Successful Prayer:

1. Be specific and get the scriptures relevant to what you want. Preparation time.
2. Ask God for what you want. John 16:23-24. According to His Word. Then believe that you have received once you ask.
3. Maintain a positive attitude in the face of the enemy's assault.
4. Guard your mind. Cast down every thought that doesn't obey the Word of God. Fight thoughts of doubt with the Word.
5. Meditate the word of God.
6. Continually give thanks to God for what He is giving you.
Make every prayer a statement of faith.

Things to Do After You Pray:

1. Pray in a different way. Remind God what it is that you asked for.
2. Remind God what it is that His Word says. Isaiah 43:25
3. Tell God what you expect.
4. Spend time thanking Him.

Hearing God

Prayer is two-way communication. God wants to speak to us when we meet with him in prayer. His desire to speak to us is far greater than our desire to hear from him. He is not going to make it difficult. Often God makes it too simple, and we can miss what he is saying to us because we are seeking the wrong thing - an obviously supernatural voice - audible, and preferably from a six foot angel dressed in white, so that there is not the slightest doubt that it is God speaking to us! We should take comfort from Samuel, who took three attempts before he was able to recognise God's voice speaking to him.
Remember that God wants us to listen to him. In Proverbs we read "Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favour from the Lord." (Proverbs 8:34) and Jesus said "My sheep listen to my voice." (John 10:27)

God speaks to us in many ways. Here are some of them :

Through the Bible. The Bible is God's living word. We should not be surprised that when we read a passage there is something in it which jumps out at us, that is particularly relevant to our situation. Particular verses come into our minds as we pray, and God will use some of them to speak to us. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that "the word of God is living and active" and "sharper than any double edged sword." Clearly we need to be reading the bible regularly if God is to use it to speak to us.
Through Others God can use others in unremarkable ways such that they themselves are often unaware that they are being used. We can recognise significance in their words or actions, or in their timing. A series of coincidences becomes God-incidences!
To us in our hearts. When God speaks to us as we pray it can be similar to the "voice" of our conscience. Over time we come to recognise God speaking in our thoughts and placing things onto our minds. This will take practice, and there will be times when you are unsure whether it is God or your own thoughts.
Through words and pictures. Through the Holy Spirit, God can give us certain pictures, visions or words. We may understand the meaning of these immediately, or they may require sharing with others, so that someone else can explain them to us, or God may reveal it to us over time.
Sometimes when we pray God can be silent - we can listen yet hear nothing. At these times it may be up to us to respond to what he has already spoken to us by putting it into practice in our lives. However, we should test things that we believe have come from God. I Thessalonians 5:19 says "Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything." Whilst we should believe that the word of God is active today, and that God wants to communicate with us, it is only wise to check out what we believe God may be saying to us. These words don't carry the same weight of scripture, and do need to be weighed carefully. Otherwise we run the risk of believing something is from God, waiting for him to fulfil it, and being disappointed when that doesn't happen, and feeling let down by God. Whilst the principal test is whether something is in line with scripture, God will not give us any words which are not in line with the Bible, His Word; it is also useful to share the message with other mature Christians for their reflection and discernment.

Pointers for Prayer : Hearing God takes practice. Do make sure that you leave some time for God to speak to you in your prayer time, and do ask him to speak to you - tell him that you want to hear his views and that you seek his will.

RE: Should I Continue To Go To This Church

The World is not ruled by God and the voices of the enemy are many and diverse. They are loud and raucous. The difficulty is that the Lord speaks in a tiny voice from within. As we are far to used to listening from the outside we often miss His Word.
When you feel His voice within and doubt that it is from him there is one test alone to determine its origination. Test what the voice says against the Bible. The Word of the Lord is immutable and firm.
The closer you become to God the harder the devil attacks. When this occurs just do the following:

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high .
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

hug

Demons know of Christ more than we do. They have seen Him since the dawning of time and know Him very well. They fear Him though because they have no power over Him. They tremble in His presence because only through the power of God can they be rebuked. Impossible to rebuke them through the power of their master. They may pretend to fool the gullible but in the presence of the Lord they are but chafe in the wind.

RE: Outer Space

The Apollo program was a human spaceflight program undertaken by NASA during the years 1961–1975 with the goal of conducting manned moon landing missions. US President John F. Kennedy announced this goal in 1961, and it was accomplished on July 20, 1969 by the landing of astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, with Michael Collins orbiting above during the Apollo 11 mission. Five other Apollo missions also landed astronauts on the Moon, the last one in 1972. These six Apollo spaceflights are the only times humans have landed on another celestial body.
