Even after all this time
The sun never says to the earth "you owe me".

The children of Adam are limbs of one body
Having been created of one essence.
When the calamity of time afflicts one limb
The other limbs cannot remain at rest.
If you have no sympathy for the troubles of others
You are not worthy to be called by the name of "man".

RE: just curious

High Maintenance to me is the epitomy of the Fairy Tale Princess fables which populate all cultures. A woman who lives beyond the borders of reality and assumes that a knight in shining armour astride a majestic white horse will lift her from her prison and ride off into the eternal sunset to live happily ever after. Often this syndrome destroys her ability to impart more than her mere being there and she tends to concern herself with how the image of this man is against her dreams tarnished by reality.
Every man should Love the woman in his life as if she were the only woman alive. And likewise she should Love the man in her life the same way.
No woman deserves less that her heart's desire but there is an equal amount of work applicable on both sides to make it work. She will reap as she has sown, and if she has never been in the field of Love tending the garden her heart will starve to death or she will abandon her foolishness. JMO

RE: Intelligence

I have tested as high as 185 and as low as 130 with many results in between. I do not lay much credence to this sort of testing as it is impacted by environmental influences far too often.
Intelligence is much more abstract than even what is presented in these tests in my opinion, and there is no merit in dividing the intellect into accepted patterns.
I remember in school that these tests were mandatory and I am quite pleased that they have disappeared from the educational circuit as far as I can tell as my own children have not endured this segregational pigeon-holing.

RE: The Bible, just PARTof why I believe…

There is no reason to be sorry for any sort of disagreement, but I am sure you can see the value of pleasantries amidst communication. I can assure you that if you openly show that your buttons can be pushed they will be by many here, past experience will attest to this quite readily. If you provide some semblance of allowing others to ruffle your feathers then you will surely miss out on much that is to be offered here through the negativity that will be strewn randomly to exasperate you. Agree to diagree is so much more acceptable for you first, and then perhaps for the others. There is no need to sugar coat anything but likewise it need not be relegated to brutality or any sort of negativity. Our words are who we are here and whether or not we disagree we need to best present ourselves as who we in truth are. hug

RE: The Bible, just PARTof why I believe…

There is no need to sully Al in such a way young lady. His points are very well conceived and lucid at most times (except when he gets very technical- but then it is our own eduacational failings that preclude our ability to follow his thought).
Al is a friend who is quite vocal and without his meritorious additions to such topics they would stagnate miserably. Give him a chance and you will see that he can keep the ball rolling as well as anyone. He also shares and this is confirmed on his report cards.
Please try to keep the comments in the realm of productive, as it only shows the poster's merit. I am sure you will provide much in your time here as well and we can only teach by example.hug

After a long and tedious day ______ goes to the bar to drink away his mundane existence. He exits the watering hole, staggering about straining to maintain some sort of composure. Riled by his ineffectual attempts to seek a vessel to slam his rage into he rails at life inwardly and arrives at his home. He fumbles the keys into the hole and luches inward. "Why or why God does life have to be so unfair..." his mumbling alerts the family dog who perks his ears up and retreats into the safety under the table avoiding his master as this is a scene that has garnered him unexpected pain in the past. More curses as the man drops his coat on the floor in a damp pool and procedes to climb the stairs. He walks past the first room on the right to see the night light glowing and the face of his precious daughter (or son) lying there in their innocence. He stumbles in and stares at that angelic face. Then he is angered that the child has so much more than he ever could at his laboured expense and for what? He struggles with his emotions and draws near to the bed. At first his touch is filled with awe, then he is reminded of the passion refuted in his loins. He falls to a predatory urge and sullies his own child for his own hatred. Falling to his knees he prays to God for deliverance from his own demons. His child sobs in terror and he wipes her tears from the face he has never seen. Spent, he wanders out assuring his child that he Loves them, and recedes into the darkness, the sounds of his passing dulled by the wreckage he has left behind.

No difference between the two and the only guilt falls on the man not on God or whatever belief he may or may not have.

Seeking money is for one reason and one reason only... seeking money. At the expense of those who are lost and with no serious work ethic involved it is an empty pursuit.

RE: It is terrible

When attrocities occur in a person's life it is not something to which an ydecent human being can receive any sort of joy from.
This situation is infinitely compounded for the victims when the perpetrator hides his or her intentions behind a mask of safety and peace.
My father abused me in ways that never should have existed in the mind of any person. I do not blame men or mankind for his actions. Likewise I understand now that he was a product of his environment. We all are to some degree.
This constant onslaught of God did this or God allowed that is rather infantile. The blame for any man (or woman's) actions fall directly on their own shoulders, not in any sort of defense they may or may not allude to.
Casting blank assumptions to encapsulate any group as resposible for any single person's actions is childish and one of the great failings of the human existence. Preaching in such a form to cast dispersion upon everyone who has any link tenuous or tangible is heresy against the worth of humanity. I have little faith in humanity at times until I see the kindness of a single person shared or given to others.
I have yet to see Crotalus even attempt to engender any sort of brotherhood with anyone excepting those who aid and abet his chosen profession of antagonism. Not very endearing at all, rather it is debilitating to everyone he spews forth his endless parade of questionable quotations to and mostly to his own self.

These work both ways of course but there are few who appreciate being scorned or ridiculed for their beliefs. In order to teach peace and harmony we must first provide an example.

About mister Sam Harris...

Harris has been criticized by some of his fellow contributors at The Huffington Post. In particular, RJ Eskow has accused him of fostering an intolerance towards faith, potentially as damaging as the religious fanaticism which he opposes. Margaret Wertheim also weighed in, contending that liberals should view Harris's account of religious faith "with considerable skepticism." On the other hand, Harris has received backing from Nina Burleigh and fellow atheist Richard Dawkins. In May 2006, Harris came under sustained attack in a featured article by Meera Nanda for New Humanist, in which she claimed that his analysis of religious extremism was flawed, and suggested that he was criticizing religion "for what seems to be his real goal: a defense, nay, a celebration of Harris' own Dzogchen Buddhist and Advaita Vedantic Hindu spirituality." Nanda stated that Harris failed to apply the same critical analysis to the eastern traditions as he applies to western religions, and she argues that the detachment from the Self in Hindu spirituality is part of the recipe for authoritarianism.

Just one more sorry man trying to promote his own brand of religion at the cost of true spirituality. Oh well a man has to make a living I guess, sort of reminds me of L Ron Hubbard and his scientology views though.

"Make money. Make more money. Make others produce so as to make money . . . However you get them in or why, just do it." and "Make sure that lots of bodies move through the shop,"

RE: Gender stereotypes...and surprises

I can be extremely emotionally aware, empathic, and have been known to squeeze a tear out from some particularly touching thought or even a bloody commercial. I see strength in accepting that I do have emotions but it is often frowned upon by men until they see the look in my eyes that quickly reminds them of who I am.

RE: It is terrible

God is Love and Love is God, so I am confused as to what exactly it is that you claim to lose through death. Life for you is just an accident so there should be no loss when it is terminated?
Blaming God for death in reverse is akin to accepting that He gave you life, so at least there yet remains Hope for you yet young man.

RE: Mother-In-Law

George went on a vacation to the Middle East with most of his family including his mother-in-law.
During their vacation and while they were visiting Jerusalem, George's mother-in-law died. With the death certificate in hand, George went to the American Consulate Office to make arrangements to send the body back to the States for proper burial.
The Consul, after hearing of the death of the mother-in-law told George that the sending of a body back to the States for burial is very, very expensive. It could cost as much as $5,000. The Consul continues, in most cases the person responsible for the remains normally decides to bury the body here. This would only cost $150.
George thinks for some time and answers, "I don't care how much it will cost to send the body back; that's what I want to do."
The Consul, after hearing this, says "You must have loved your mother-in-law very much considering the difference in price."
"No, it's not! that," says George. "You see, I know of a case many years ago of a person that was buried here in Jerusalem. On the third day he arose from the dead. I just can't take that chance."

The hardest soil is often that which contains the best fertilizer. Hence our lovely friend AL and all the defenses of his pasture. The day will come when his heart opens and trumps his mind (the tool of the devil of course) and that will truly be a glorious day. RE: how important is the Pic?

Watch out for this one she is very smart. Seriously though a pic is the first level of trust on both sides. Would you enter into a conversation with someone wearing a bag over their head or a mask? Or talk to someone whose features were hidden in the dark? It creates some sort of negative resonance in people at least until you have established your own identity. It can be done as many here have managed to prove but I am quite sure that the majority of them faced some rather difficult times and garner less attention to their profiles than those who openly post a pic.
Oh yeah the sweet lady who responded first is very smart and quite the wit to boot.hug

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

I really hope you do not kiss your mother with that mouth. Sailors could learn from you my friend. Just agree to disagree and let it go, or is this an issue of needing to win? A fool's battle of insensitivity to a personal issue against undying passion for a cause. This continuance is not very becoming of a man of any sort and personally it disrepects our greatest commodity and export- friendliness. Please just let it rest.handshake

RE: Those of us born in another country but now live in an English speaking country, do you speak your

There is some importance to speaking one's mother tongue wherever you are, and I think it lies in the essence of culture. There are things and words, mannerisms, expressions and such that cannot translate into other languages quite so easily without losing their true point.
Try translating a joke from your mother tongue to the one common to your new environment? It often does not come across the same.
If you lose your tongue you lose an intrinsic part of not only yourself but that of your culture. The curse of Babylon in reverse is slowly desecrating our individuality and conforming us into a solid group of unilingular beings. Bland and static with no hope for future development. A tragedy in the making in my eyes, but then I do so Love words from all over the world and dearly miss each one as it fades into non-existence.
