His eminence, ambassador of the green skinned harlots should be waking in a few hours. He tries to fool us into believing that the foil is to prevent alien intrusion into his mind I am beginning to wonder if it is instead a transmitter or antena? We better come to terms before dawn or he might just send the call for an invasion of our divided peoples. grin

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

I agree and if it were not for Emperor type figures like Constantine and Ghengis Khan likely much of the world we know would still stink of piss and disease. We have a decidedly different take on expansion nowadays as the pressures of required lands and resources for our own needs have overtaken the search to better ouselves as humans. Take and destroy all opposed is the law now. Not that destruction was not likewise inherent in the past but there seemed a collective resonance that allowed for acceptance of ideals and foreign skills to use for the whole.
If we land on Mars and there is life already there, how will they feel when they see our true colours. Not racial but filled with greed and malice towards all but our own selves. We will not be treated with any sort of respect if they have followed any part of our primitive ways. There is always a distinct possibility that our self-perceived omnipotence will assure us an enemy that will erradicate us offhand like we have done far too many times. No mercy and nothing but contempt. Then perhaps the Earth can regain some of her former glory when they use it as a vacation land where the savages once roamed.

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

Without a doubt my friend but as the History of the Old World is far too vast to properly define I felt it would be easier to post in deference to our own 'localized' issues. I agree wholeheartedly of course and took it as understood that this follows form for all nations as there does not remain a single land that was not populated by others who were outmoded or destroyed outright. A tragic history that relives itself with every grain of sand that needs to be owned to feel worthy. Well at least by human standards. I do not for a single second believe that the Earth feels this way about a single square inch of her surface though.

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

The world and all of its countries are made up of individuals. Amongst any such collective, called nation or ethnicity, or any form of subform strata of humanity there are multitudes of decent people. Likewise there are those who are not quite so proper nor respectful of others. And of course there are monsters in all lands in the guise of humans.
What a specific country does or fails to do is not truly in the hands of those it represents. Much like Unions in the work force they have become far too large to have any real connection to the common man (or woman) of the entity they represent. Sure the ruling masses are a necessary evil to allow some sort of unification to mature but once they are done with the inception the positions they hold should be turned back to those by whom this power was granted. When the wages of a corporation become too top heavy to manage the people who rely on the products or services have to foot the newly raised bill until it collapses on them.
The people herein (as in this particular arguement- for lack of a better word) are defending themselves in a misguided way that attibutes this defense to their govenment. There are no individuals here that are responsible for the attrocities that any other person has faced, regardless of their nation. Try to change your own currency alone. Try to chage a single law alone. Not possible. Gather together and face your government to force them to the will of the people and you will be branded outlaw and likely imprisoned for revolution. Succeed and there will be change. If we stand against each other as humans who is left to oppose the leaders who incite such fury within and toward?

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

The Revolution Is Over
Those who say we could lose America are looking in the wrong direction. We've already lost it.
Those who think immigrants will change America overlook the changes already in place. Our government, taxes, and ideas of freedom are already duplicates of the Old World. Our politicians determine how we should live our lives - and our individual liberties are sacrificed for the benefit of the Fatherland. What is unique that's left to lose?
Those who fear a "loss of American sovereignty" to international agencies don't realize how little such agencies could bring about that we don't already have. Are they afraid someone will impose coercive health-care regulation on us? Or government schooling? Or regulations dictating the size of your toilet? What could happen that our own government hasn't already done?

What to Do
If you devote yourself to fighting against the latest political proposal, you may be wasting your time.
The growth of government is inevitable because the major issue has already been decided: there is no longer an America of tiny government, voluntary association, and the free market. So the only arguments now are over how the politicians will run our lives - the Republican way or the Democratic way.
Our one hope is to persuade our fellow Americans that a return to the Bill of Rights could bring us much smaller government, much greater personal income, access to more low-cost products and services, and the freedom to live your own life as you think best - not as the President or Congress wants.
Every battle is trivial compared to the fight to restore that unique America.

~ Harry Browne

RE: Should we in the rest of the world be scared of USA?

What Is America?
Politicians love to tell us how special America is. But what is it that's special?
It can't be the scenery - the "purple mountain majesties" or "thy rocks and rills." Dozens of countries have beautiful scenery.
It can't be the people. Citizens of other countries can be just as generous, courteous, fun-loving, or anything-you-might-want.
It can't be bravery. People have fought and died for their countries since the beginning of history.
And yet, there most certainly is - or was - something singular about America. What was it?
In my view, America's uniqueness rested on three pillars.

The Bill of Rights
The first is the concept that government is limited to a few specific, clearly defined functions. The Bill of Rights makes this clear. The 9th and 10th amendments specify that the federal government may not do anything that isn't spelled out in the Constitution.
And to drive that home, the Bill of Rights specifically guarantees your freedom to speak, worship, write, assemble, protest, or protect yourself. There are no exceptions allowed - even when the politicians claim to have a "compelling interest" in limiting your liberty.
Before America, no country was ever governed by such a document. It put government in a small, confined compartment.

Voluntary Association
The Bill of Rights frees you to engage in any kind of activity you want with consenting adults, provided you don't forcibly impose upon the person or property of others.
Mark Skousen has said, "The triumph of persuasion over force is the sign of a civilized society."
The American way was for commerce, personal relationships, and religion to be voluntary. No one was forced to participate in something he didn't want.
So an individual could better his life - not by appealing to government force, but by offering other people incentives to do business with him.
Civilization reached a new high by the maximum reliance on voluntary persuasion and the minimum reliance on government coercion.

The Free Market
Voluntary association produces the free market - where each person can choose among a multitude of possibilities.
The free market empowers the most effective regulator in the world - you.
You don't have to deal with a company you don't like. You don't have to buy something if you don't want it - or if the price is too high - or if you aren't sure the product is safe. The seller must satisfy you that he has what you want at a price you're willing to pay.
With tens of millions of individual regulators like you, companies are pressured to provide what people want and need in the real world - not what bureaucrats think would be best in a utopian world. In the free market, you are the King because you aren't forced to buy anything you don't want.
The free market brought us the greatest prosperity the world has ever known - the easiest road to escape from poverty, the widest distribution of goods and services, the wealth that permits lavish generosity.

What Is America Today?
Unfortunately, all three pillars of that unique America have been torn down.
The Bill of Rights is now overruled by nine judges and ignored daily by politicians and bureaucrats.
Voluntary association has been replaced by the government's forcible imposition of discrimination laws, monopoly suppliers, and subsidies financed with money confiscated from you.
You've been replaced as the regulator of the free market by people like Teddy Kennedy and George Bush. Now companies have to please Washington before they can even think about pleasing you.

But will I have to gnaw those tiny corpses? That is the real issue. Cause if that's the case I am going to continue the charade of ignorance to their pleas for a mighty long time.grin innocent

RE: Do you believe we come from monkeys as Darwin told? (evolution)

Effort lacking is the fault of laziness for certain. Effort misdirected can be attributed likewise but also to environmental concerns which can plague entire groupings of people, through indoctrination. Religion is one of the worst, as is politics. Blinding lights to destroy our ability to see truth and of course the naming of things to limit their scope.
Just take words from one language and try to translate them to another and see the loss of intention readily.

Belief and emotion can blind not only in the speaker but also the listener. The truth often amounts to something between the two vantage points.

I do agree that those without the opportunity are the ones to whom we should lend a hand as they will then provide us as a collective with all that they experience as well. My cats continue to this day to try endlessly to help me understand my need of dead birds and mice to my dismay as I just do not understand the translation yet. They won't give up though cause I think they Love me like a kitten, seeing as how I haven't a clue as to their point no matter how often they attempt to reach me and explain.hug

RE: Do you believe we come from monkeys as Darwin told? (evolution)

Yes it is rather enlightening in a purely scientific way to see the hordes of manlings who have recently adapted to the opposable digit thing coming from the forest to the world's epicentres. Almost refreshing, but I do wish they would leave their clubs behind. My cats understand English (and would have just as easily have picked up any other tongue or dialect if they were exposed to them) and I remain hopeful that these relative newcomers can be taught some sort of civility and perhaps language as well.hug

RE: Do you believe we come from monkeys as Darwin told? (evolution)

And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city after his son, Enoch.

Just a little reading for you my friend. To fill in a few holes you may have left unpaved. Potholes do have that stubborn ability to trip one up after all.

RE: Adam and Eve

Hey 12 hours in the ground makes my brain a little dead. I have recently watered the poor thing and am currently letting some chlorophyl sustain its requirements through the sunshine I am luxuriating in. I will be back to normal in a few (I hope!)

RE: Adam and Eve

Good morning sunshine! How are you today? Me well thanks for asking (I am presuming you would as you do have such wonderful manners hidden tactfully beneath that fire...) I am wonderful so far. Work is done for the weekend and life lies ahead with limitless possibilities. hug

RE: Most people make plans. What plans have you made for next year, maybe the next five?

In the next five years I will no longer be a resident of my home country. And I will be living at peace in the Big Sky Country. Wilderness and the origin of my heart's vision of beauty close at hand. Streams filled with trout, mountains filled with places to get lost on purpose, and purest joy in my heart.smitten

Thank you so much for that. Exactly the encouragement I desired on this wonderful morning.hug

Good day Thomas!hug

RE: has anybody ever walked out ofcollege or university because they never liked the people in the class

Fight the current it is what the salmon have been doing for eons and it works for them.

RE: What can you live without?

I have never driven, and would prefer to walk rather than use public transportation if at all possible. I am not adverse to being in a vehicle I just have chosen to forgo the consumption of fossil fuels. Perhaps with the advent and eventual turn over of renewable sources of energy I might bother but other than that I would need a pretty damn convincing arguement to be involved in this past-time of sorts.
I do not read newspapers (mostly began due to the grade level of our local papers, and the mercurial banality of larger ones. I am not interested in how some celebrity is doing according to their agent or the paparazzi whatsoever).
I have never and will never own a cell phone.
Education on what is really happening also helps to promote a continuation of life on this planet for those who follow in our footsteps, and there is always hope as long as these children are provided with the opportunity to change their own consumption policies.

RE: you want to get married, but your partner dont wan children

To be fair anything in regards to mathematics would have little if anything to do with poetry, unless the discourse slipped into the realm of iambic pentameter or some other such form of structure which would certainly lose the context and essence of expression.

I believe her statement was intended as a reply to the sole ideal proposed in the OP in regards to the possibilities inherent in the desires for children, mutual or not.dunno

RE: you want to get married, but your partner dont wan children

No cruelty received my friend. I have not been married and could never have married either of those women as there was something missing. Hindsight once again proved accurate of course but not in time to alleviate what eventually occurred.
Warning signs are imperative to success but I cannot help but hold onto faith that personal growth can overcome these. Once the proof is in the pudding of course the result leaves little option but to turn away or lose one's self completely.
The difficulty lies in seeing templates from one's own past and applying them needlessly to the current situation.
There must be depth of communication to propel one to entertain such an option. I would never get married without being as sure as is reasonable, as to me it is the ultimate responsibility to one's self and equally to any chosen other.
Perception of obstacles is much more different that the actuality in my mind and such a focus ensures solitary confinement.hug

RE: you want to get married, but your partner dont wan children

Love is something you give, not take. It implies mutual adoration and respect for all aspects of the life you both seek to share. Loving someone for some future vision is fraudulent and controlling in ways that preclude Love in a most disastrous way.
Personally when my heart is given it is for better or worse, through thick and thin. My wants are important but not to the point of excluding those of my significant other in any way.
I would marry the woman to whom I have given my heart regardless of what obstacles may or may not be perceived in said future. I Love her as she is, all of her past, all of her present, and whatever lies in the future. No regrets just emphasis on the us and whatever that brings.

RE: Have you ever been in an open relationship?

My heart and soul belong to one woman and one woman only so it follows that my body could no more seek anything else with any sort of honesty.
Never been and never will. I would rather die alone than betray my own inner essence. Others may find some solace in the comfort of such a relationship and I wish them the best but it would spiritually kill me and I do not believe in that sort of suicide.

B) There are many post's by users here that have drawn me to want to know them much better.
