A bird in your hand isn't as good as two in her bush.

RE: How do you feel about your photo rating here?

I also do not have a companion. I do not feel that circumstances in my life are appropriate to share with someone else at this point. I am happy being me and finding the parts I have lost over the years. It would seem unfair to a woman to offer her half of what I should be and expect any more from her in return. I believe that it is not 50/50 but 100/100 in a committment and as I can not offer that I do not wish to burden any lovely woman with my own hollowness.

RE: How do you feel about your photo rating here?

I am oblivious to the ratings on my photo, and completely forgot to turn them off. But if you are concerned you have to realize that everyone is attracted to something different. If you look to see on the ratings page you can check who liked the photo, if they voted 8, 9, or 10 (I think) they will be listed there for your perusal. Again it is a fairly generalized thing as they often have never looked at your profile and only saw you when they were cruising through endless reams of pictures. I would imagine that like taste and smell, after a few dozen flavours or scents they get a blandness that does not allow them to experience the wholeness of the image.
Personally I know who I am ad do not seek any sort of approval from others for my appearance of all things. I also do not rate photos either as it seems shallow to me. I prefer a woman's mind far more than the vehicle she drives about life in. I am also not looking for anyone so I guess that does make me a bit jaded.

What Is Jealousy?

Brilliant post Anna, I am happy to see that no matter the perceived wisdom of a man such as Krishnamurti, his words can always be expounded upon. Clarity can only be achieved through continual awareness and understanding. He would be very proud of your addition and correction of his words. As am I. Thank you for this elaborate participation.handshake

Se you later friendhandshake Perhaps in the EU forums in the morning. Have a good night.

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

I agree Anna, I see our educations system as a bottle neck effect. Imagine a pop bottle cut in half and placed over the figurative mind. In the beginning they teach a vast supply of differing information, and it gradually becomes more and more specific until in the end out of the top pops another cog or gear for the machine of society.
The slow learners are forced in whatever way to get to the middle of the pack and the quick learners are equally yoked to remain in the same middle.

RE: THE MOP TOP HAIR STYLE COOL OR JUST BAD ?????

Damn its coming back? And I just knocked a 27 year collection of follicle matter off of my head last year... I just couldn't wait one more year...sigh

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

See the perfect example of how someting so simple as a comma can change the entire landscape of a subject. It was not intended as such but was interpreted this way, even if in humour.
Daniel you are indeed my friend and I do appreciate what you say both here and elsewhere in the forums.
If a simple punctuation can be seen in such a way to turn a sentence 180 degrees how much more can a word do?handshake

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

I can be just as straight forward as the rest here and I am sure that most if not all could expound as deeply or deeper if they wanted to. You are right the diversity is nice, and it does add a lovely flavour to the dishes we serve around here.
Thank you.handshake

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

No you are not my friend, you are half Canadian, and I already knew this from long ago.
There are no stupid questions but the ones we do not ask. If someone wants clarification they will ask and someone here will help them. This is a very user friendly forum with a great deal of intellect amongst all its users (well every once in a while we get a Gary but you get the point).handshake

That is the presupposition of IQ tests, they do not gravitate around a specific field but delve lightly into many different aspects. Both abstract and literal.
Einstein was well noted to have a closet full of the same clothes so he wouldn't be bothered trying to figure out what to wear. Probably best for all of us but definitely a little peculiar.

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

Lagoona we cannot ever hope to dismantle this into neatly labelled ideas, philosophers have been at it for ages and they have barely scratched the surface. Inside each of us lies a philosopher with seeds of knowledge, intelligence and wisdom that sometimes need to be watered to bear fruit. From the mouth of babes comes words of merit at times, and are all children until we die.handshake Well at least that's how I intend to go... Toothless, bald, wearing a diaper and being breast-fed (if at all possible).grin

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

I understand what you are saying but it is all to common today to use words that are simple generalizations of what you actually intend to say. The English language is ripe with an enormous bounty of words. Many of which may be similar in tone but carry differing degrees of that meaning.
For example say hatred:
abhorrence, abomination, detestation, loathing, enmity, rancor, horror, animosity, animus, odium, dislike, objection, disfavour, distaste, grudge, aversion, antipathy, repugnance, repulsion, disgust, disregard etc... all of these words have much the same basic meaning but are quite varied in the actual tone and depth. I am an avid reader and many words end up in my vocabulary through this. I understand that not all people will have come across all words (I learn new ones all the time as well) but I choose to use the one that best describes the term or feeling I am trying to express.

I hate the American governmental system.
I disagree with the American governmental system.

These two sentences will receive different reproaches undoubtedly.
THat is why there are so many monikers for each colour, blue is not just blue, red is not just red. I Love words and they help me to express exactly what I am trying to impart as best I can. There is no inflection or body language here, no sarcasm emoticon and we already have a very limited environment in which to speak with each other so I try to be clear and if this seems wrong in any way I am sorry, but it is who I am.

How Is One To Become Intelligent?

I have a friend who memorized much the dictionary and much of the Encyclopedia Britannica, yet could barely hold a decent conversation. His car runs out of gas twice a month, and he is not very good at applying anything which he has read to life. The man can rip virtually anyone apart in Trivial Pursuit, but couldn't manage to perform an oil change on his car. Even with the manual.

I am of the belief personally that there is Intelligence, Understanding (knowledge) and Wisdom. Intelligence being the act of gathering information. Understanding the art of knowing that only 50% of what we intake is actually true, and Wisdom being the ability to discern which half is actually the truth in any situation.

This thread was not perpetrated to change anyones ideals by any means but to cause introspection or deliver a foundation for conversation on this topic.
I do not really see how anyone could be wrong as it is extremely difficult to define any abstract idealogy.

Is that how you greet mister Bushie... on your knees? I would have guessed he could do better for 10 bucks, but I guess you got the skills he's looking for... No accounting for taste... (just in case you're a spitter you know)... Me I much prefer the delicacies of a woman but it is the 21st century so I do applaud you for your choices young man.grin

RE: Communist Party

I was startled at first when I lifted her skirt to just above her kness and she was sharing her mamaries memories with me... Kind of shocking to say the least...blushing

RE: Communist Party

Remnants of the old Social Credit Party in Canada. Used to be quite strong out west with farmers and in Quebec. They folded in the eighties I think and many joined the Progressive Conservatives (i.e. Mulrooney and his band of clowns). They are trying to revitalize in Alberta right now though.

RE: Communist Party

Well thankfully you have no understanding of the symbology of the thumbs up and down. Origination believed to be in gladiatorial arenas. Thumbs down meant to drop your weapon as the loser had put up a good fight. Thumbs up indicating that a death was in order. Oh, the things you just don't know my friend... You are rather humourous though and sparing the lady's life after she pulled down your pants in front of the world... Kudos for being such a good sport.grin

RE: Communist Party

Well then I do thank my lucky stars and garters that you aren't the owner of this site. And I do believe ranting at these ladies having a conversation that had nothing to do with you, and that you could have walked away from as you obviously had nothing of merit to add, does count sorely against who you are. Actions speak louder than words.

Ignorant talkers... let's see here intiminated... sorry have no clue what that word means unless you were making some grasping attempt at intimidated. Easely,... is that some new fadangled word for an artist's easel (similar to a sawhorse but intended to hold a canvas and frame upright)? The act of easeling...? I am at a loss here. Oh yeah and specially has an 'e' in the forefront end of the word. No wonder you didn't see the freedom of expression in the Constitution...

doh

RE: Communist Party

Considering the OP is Canadian, and the woman you are responding to is in Ireland, who the hell are you gonna report them too? Walt Disney? Good Lord I am shocked that a casual discussion can bring out such malice. You should be embarassed.

RE: When do two people become a 'we?'

Ken... and I thought we were friends...? Its alright my friend I forgive you.hug

RE: The way to a womans heart!!!!!!!!!!

The heart is located in the chest between the lungs behind the sternum and above the diaphragm. Why this question? Has someone lost theres? Just curious.grin

RE: Films adaptation of a novels

Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess as a novel was absolutely brilliant but the movie by Stanley Kubrick was equally absorbing and quite faithful as well.
