...and the table, chairs, couch, countertops... OMG I need a supply of zinc tabs just to ensure my lubricator doesn't run dry... doh

The oven cleaner is messing with my brain here... did you say to sneak up on her and fart...?grin
Are you sure with this one? I trust you as the early stuff is incredible. Well except for the fuzzy thing. Her toilet seat is a lacquered collection of fishing hooks. You can't feel 'em but they make you cringe I bet...

My horizontal blinds are replaced. My vertical ones are washed and febreezed.

Air vent filters and scented pads I have overlooked. Good one my friend.hug

I am sure you have stocked up the shelves and fridge with goodies and food stuffs.

New music and DVDs.

Ceiling fan blades clean and window blinds too.Run the washer with a couple of cups of vineger....makes it fresh! Grinds lemon rinds in the disposal too!

fresh light bulbs in all the fixtures.

wash trys and freeze new ice to get rid of freezer taste in ice.

baking soda box in fridge and freezer.

Put some carpet fresh under the trash bags in the trash cans....so they stink pretty![/quote]

I have been buying non perishable things that she eats for a while now. I remember everything about just about everything and with her I really pay attention. I know what she eats and how she eats virtually everything she eats. She eats many things I have never eaten and I have learned recipes for most of them. Of course I ask her how she makes everything and take notes too.

The washer and vinegar is a great idea and one I never thought of.

All my lights are new.

Never use ice personally but I bought trays for her. Will make ice before she arrives.

Baking soda is wonderful and I will have some tomorrow.

Carpet fresh is damn brilliant. Buying some tomorrow as well.

You truly are an angel in disguise my friend.hug

She is my Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and Aphrodite... she will never want for any attention and will likely need a set of the Jaws of Life to pry my hands and other portions of my anotomy off of her.smitten

I even washed the plants already. I just know I am forgetting something though. Oh well it can't be that big a deal or someone would have found a pet peeve not covered yet. Perhaps in the next few days something will rear its dirty head.hug

RE: Men and needles

On top of that I have saved two lives.
One, a man who was building a camp at the lake down from where we were camping. I was about 12 years old and had been fishing in my canoe and was returning up the hill with my gear when he fell off of a log where he was cutting a notch. He had split his foot between the second and third toes almost to the ankle. I tied my shirt around his leg and propped it up with a splint. Made a quick travois and dragged him back to my father who drove him to the hospital. I looked like I was in a Friday the 13th film with all the blood on my clothes and body.
The second was an elderly man who had brought a chainsaw out to cut a Christmas tree and it skipped off a knot and struck him in the neck. I rushed to his side applied pressure and snow to the wound to dilate the capilaries and we (my friend and I) rushed him to the emergency room. Again another bloody mess that was everywhere.
Two lives saved by just doing what had to be done.

RE: Men and needles

Not all men are squeamish. I have given myself stitches and even put my eye back in my head. Lots of blood but it had to be done. I am not overly fond of needles more due to the mechanical way that the blood flows with each pump of the old ticker though, but it is bearable and I would never be sick or afraid.hug

No starch on the cats but the windows are done of course.hug

You are such a dear to allow my books to rest a bit in their age old covers. They hearned every speck of dust by living with me for sooo long. 10,000+ books is a lot to clean in one shot. I have left them for last of course. But I have swiffer dusted the shelves just to make it 'look' good.
Yes lavender and lilac on all the bedding. I should go out and get some liquid spray of this sort too.
hug

See now that is the sort of advice I am looking for, I think. Makes all my blood rush about like mad. And one more reason why I have to keep a bottle of dust just in case it is too clean. Nothing quite like an upthrust heart-shaped derriere... OMGsmitten
OK enough of that I am trying to clean here not make more messes...grin

RE: Any advice on long-distance relationship?

Me too my friend me too. My response was sort of in jest as well (hence the smiley face with the big grin). I do agree that there are too many here who play anonymously and create fictional personas with which to deceive.
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive”
~ Sir Walter Scott

Far too many predators by population density. Gotta wonder how they react when they realize they are often preying upon each other?
And yes Skype rocks for getting to know someone. You get to see their life and they get to see yours. Very practical for weeding out morons and game-players to some degree. At least the stupid ones.hug

You are only as old as you let yourself be. My doctor tells me I have the body of a twenty year old. I still can't figure out how she can see what's in my basement though?dunno grin

Wherever there is not enough room I will make room if I have to build another storey on the house.
We will have to determine this together but as this will quickly be her home as much as it has been mine i am sure we will find ways around any obstacles.
Already drafted a new plan for the upstairs and if I have time I will remvoe the walls and rebuild to accomodate her in the best way possible.hug

RE: Any advice on long-distance relationship?

My friend her Love never failed it was merely the conditioning of her motherland's failed economy of the past. If you do not have the funds for such how can she be certain of a loaf in lean times where a wheelbarrow of rubles is required for a few slices of bread.grin

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

Zalrighty, best learning is done by watching of course and listening. Big difference in hearing and listening one is mechanical and the other is intentional. Carry on. I am paying attention and learning while I do.grin hug

Her favourite scents are lilac and lavender. I have purchased everything that even remorely smells like this. Even my laundry detergent is the new (in Canada at least) Gain lilac and lavender. Febreeze candles in either scent. Ironically I have lilacs in my back yard and they will find their way to the tables throughout the house once they bloom in Spring.
The scent is for me as it soothes my soul and helps me dream about her every night (for the few hours I ever sleep).
The windows is a good idea, she always has hers open no matter the weather. Well not all day long but for some part of every day at least.hug

RE: Any advice on long-distance relationship?

Everywhere. Simply magical I tell ya. My life would never have been anything it has been over the past year without it. I would have had to move a long time ago just to see her smiling face and I fear nothing would have kept me from that. Even though I had very serious things in my life here.hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

Thanks Shirley I just hope I measure up to what she deserves. I will never fail to give everything my best effort and of course to learn what she requires and how best to provide any part of it.
Even my exes never asked for anything without receiving it. 3:00 -50 snowstorm with fantastic winds and a 20 minute walk for an icecream to the only store open in town. Damn cravings but it is a small sacrifice for such simple pleasures. hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

True but there will be time for all of that once we settle in. Then her mess is ours and mine will likely be mine.grin
We are not planning on staying too long anyway so best not to have to rush at the end.
Thanks for being the first man to post here btw I knew there were a few who would pitch in advice and of course yours is worthy, pertinent and truthful.hug

Everything that is cleaned in a washing machine has been done. Not a curtain, or towel remains and all are folded neatly or put in their place. Fridge is spotless and all food is new including condiments. Just finishing stripping the cupboards to restain them. Garbage is a pet peeve of mine and is always put out immediately. When the kitchen container is half full I typically scan the house for things that need to go and then empty all other garbages throughout the house to get rid of it all.
Ironic how you mention kitchen and bathroom as these are the two rooms that sell the most houses. And women make those calls most of the time. I knew I came to the right place for advice.hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

Exactly why it needs to be done to the best of my ability before she gets here because I think every place that does take-out is goig to be rather busy keeping up with us. No time for cooking for the first week for sure but after that I will cook every meal she desires just to see her smile. hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

We are selling the house to move away and it has to be as clean as possible. Other women are going to look it over many times you see and we have to get by their discerning eye so they can tell their husband to buy it and set us free.
I do not want anything to interfere with our time here. Too much to do, too much to see and too much time missed being together.hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

I realize I will no longer be the king of this castle and I will relinquish the title to her willingly. I trust her completey and have no problem fitting in to whatever regiment she prefers. Of course I know she will give me some freedom if I am good.grin

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

She is truly the most amazing person I could ever have found in a million lifetimes. She certainly will be finding things that need organizing but we are going to sell most of it on ebay and locally to minimize the 'stuff' that goes with us. Where? Wherever she wants to go is where I want to be.
Lots of time of course her 'visit' is planned for an indefinite length. We are going to do some renovations and sell the house then move out of here together. We'll take our time of course to ensure plenty of us time. Too much fishing and forest to explore here to ignore or forget.
I am the luckiest man on God's green Earth just to know her.

Thanks for the kind words. You are such a charmer thank God I am not a snake I wouldn't do well in a basket.hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

I have dusted every spot in this damnably huge home. Dusting is one of her pet peeves. No cobwebs anywhere.
Buying paint for kitchen and bathroom. Have to wait for other rooms because I want her opinion too.hug

RE: Any advice on long-distance relationship?

Skype is a free download and made my life so much easier once I relented and gave up being stubborn.
You only need a web cam and a microphone and the software (free) and all calls will be as close to being there as possible and all for free. No long distance charges nothing.
Give it a shot is truly is a modern day miracle.hug

Need some help from the ladies (or really in tune men)

My sweetheart is coming home real soon. I have been living alone for 3 years. I am not a slob but I do have some clutter (mostly books- okay its all frikken books). I know she is a clean nut so I have been giving everything the once over, then hitting it again. I took my stove apart to clean it completely. My fridge too. I always keep the bathroom clean so no problem there I am sure. As sure as any man can be at least. I have taken every piece of furniture out of each room and washed the walls and floor then cleaned each piece of furniture before putting it back in the room.
I know I am missing something here. Please give me some leads. I do not want any part of her time here to be spent cleaning anything that was here before she was. We have soooo many other more important things to do when she is here I would truly hate to waste any time doing stupid things that should already be done.
We can then get to making all the messes that are ours and working on them together.
