RE: money or love?

Ah, well...only you can answer that one, dear man.

For me, life is full of studies and learning to live a greener, healthier life. It's complete within itself right now. If a man comes into that picture who can walk it with me, then it will be even fuller. But I'm truly in no hurry right now, and I refuse to settle for less than I both need and deserve.

RE: Change For A Penny?

Nope, Wonder, never heard it, and can't imagine how it would be delivered. Only "penny" expression I'm really familiar with is "in for a penny, in for a pound". wave Good to see you, though!

RE: Don't look at me or my profile

Oops...that's Pike for short, not Pink. Sorry about that, Pikengren. That's what I get for trying to post to you after not seeing you in a long time. doh bouquet

RE: Don't look at me or my profile

laugh Ah, you went with the age she looks rather than the one she looks too good to be...good on you! And I'd forgotten she wasn't still in the Air Force, but was with the Embassy now. conversing

Good to see you, Outrageous! wave

And Pink, her best stuff is actually when she's tired and past bedtime! That's when the awesome limericks get written! laugh

RE: do u belive in love at first sight???

My parents are living proof of it. I love the story of how they met, and they'll celebrate 48 years of marriage next month. wine

RE: Don't look at me or my profile

Ah, is it the diplomatic corp now, but ex-airplane mechanic? I remember your military career had something to do with fighter planes, and yes, I seem to recall that Outrageous is correct and you now serve with the diplomatic service. She's wrong on your age, though it's what I'd guess from your pics. wine

You can't beat yourself up for it forever, Robert. We're all human, and there are times we do stupid things. I know someone else who had a chance at the real thing and blew it...if he ever regrets that, I'll never know. He admits a lot of his deep, dark stuff to me, but that's one he never would...not to me or anyone else. Life goes on. bouquet

RE: money or love?

Love...money comes and goes, but true love exists beyond all of that and makes two people a lot happier than money ever will. wine

RE: WOULD YOU LIKE A DATE to QUIT SMOKING?

Good to see you, too, PolarB. hug Cold turkey isn't easy, but I think it's the most effective method. If that doesn't work, however, try one of the nicotine replacement products. Some do need to "step down" from it. I do understand how you started during that time. It was a stressful time, and smoking helps to relieve that stress, especially emotional stress. Going through my late husband's stuff is what makes me want one most because it's still emotionally stressful for me, though not as bad as it was before. bouquet

You can do it. Just pick a date, and start preparing mentally. Divorce yourself from your triggers. Go to Becomeanex.org for more tips, they helped me a lot. wine

RE: All people are equal in the world on the earth!!!

Amenda, I agree with you that all of us are created equal and none deserve more rights than others. Nobody is king or queen of the forums, all are equal here as well, and yes, someone thinking they're better than others certainly does show shallowness.

I know many who seem to think that they're better than others, and the negative energy they put off is palpable, so they repel me. I can't stand arrogant people. I know one man in my area who won over 40 million on the lottery, and he's losing his true friends because of his arrogant attitude, which is getting worse with time. He seems to feel that I'm not worthy of speaking to, but honestly I wouldn't want to speak to him now that I've gotten to know what he's like.

As Americans, we seem to feel that we're special when we travel overseas. When I was in the Army, I learned that American military personnel are not liked much overseas because of our arrogance and the general attitude most have that "I'm an American and you should do things my way while I'm in your country." What a stupid attitude! I love learning new cultural and spiritual/religious beliefs, as well as new languages. I think all hold value and beauty, and that all peoples should be allowed to have their cultural beliefs and lifestyles, so long as they are happy. If they're not happy, they should have the right to move to where they will be happy.

Yes, I'm an idealist as well as a realist, for I do realize the world doesn't work that way. But it should. bouquet

RE: WOULD YOU LIKE A DATE to QUIT SMOKING?

I wanted one Sunday night really bad, and it was hard. I drove past the house, then turned around and came home. Then I sat in my car in the garage for 5 minutes reminding myself of all of the reasons I don't want to smoke anymore, and that it doesn't really do any good. I finally went upstairs and ate two gluten-free blueberry muffins and some organic strawberries. (I eat 4 small meals a day, and that was one of them.) It tasted much better than it has in the past, and I felt better after that and a cup of tea.

No, it's not always going to be easy, and I know there will be days like Sunday was...but a day like that isn't an excuse to light up again. I need to learn other ways to deal with them.

I hope this helps others who want to quit, or have just started. I'm still taking it one day at a time.

RE: If a policeman does something illegal (regardless) should he have the right to get his job back?

Many do feel that way, and it's everywhere, not just certain areas of the world. I live in a small county with small towns, and it happens here. And nobody should be above the law, regardless of their position. Crime is crime, and if you commit one you're a criminal, period. If you get caught, you should pay. And a police officer who is caught should be convicted and never be able to get a job as one again anywhere, IMO. wine

RE: WOULD YOU LIKE A DATE to QUIT SMOKING?

rolling on the floor laughing OK, Larry...I'll go public here. I already did on FB, after all. Seven days now, one full week. It's not always easy, but I'm hanging tough because I really want it this time, after 32 years of being chained to that addiction.

RE: First time user on anything like this, and first time using a forum.

tongue scold Robert, you're so bad...you just want to try to keep all of the good looking ones to yourself.

RE: First time user on anything like this, and first time using a forum.

Welcome to CS, and my advice would be to just join in and have fun. I'll warn you that this site will ruin you for any other forums sites. I have tried a few after long-term membership here, and not found any as friendly and active as the one here.

Btw, a bit of navigation help: if you want to reply to someone and make it clear what/who you're responding to, hit the quote button in the lower right corner of their post. The other one just posts a reply to the thread.

Have fun, and try not to get too addicted. laugh wine

RE: Hi in dire need of som help here...

I'm sorry that you and your daughter are going through this. I can only offer you my prayers and my hopes that she will get the help she needs, especially since now she's bringing a baby into her world who will need her to be stable. sad flower teddybear

RE: So what's COOKING....????

Hmmm...I don't cook often, usually only when I have company or my kids over.

As to what's cooking for the weekend, well, today I want to go work on an art project, and tomorrow I'm going to a PowWow for the day with a group of friends. Sunday I have my sons and plan on putting them to work for a few hours at least. I do my best to keep busy. grin

RE: So what's COOKING....????

laugh Raven, you're not alone. I tried to knit a scarf once...didn't do bad except for not being able to finish it off. Somewhere in my parents' house is a never-ending scarf with knitting needles still in it. rolling on the floor laughing

Mittens and hats would be way beyond me, and we won't even talk about sweaters! (I might be able to do a blanket if someone wants the unique added feature of permanent knitting needles and the inability to wash it without it unraveling.) wine

RE: Is Anyone Afraid of Falling In Love Again.

I'm sure you're not alone, many have been hurt enough to fear loving freely again. They just can't open themselves up to the potential for that kind of hurt again.

Blessedly, no, I'm not in that category. I love wholeheartedly, and if I get hurt, I do it again. Life is all about risks, and needs to be lived fully to experience it fully. Walking about in fear of loving is not living. wine

RE: I NEED SOME HELP HERE

Joanne, just wanted to pop on and say hello, and send my prayers that you and Eric get this fixed soon and without too much expense. Sorry I can't help, but whenever I've lived where there was a well and pump, it was either with my parents and dad dealt with it...and I don't even remember us having any problems with them in all of the years we lived with wells and septics.

RE: Finding someone....

rolling on the floor laughing That should teach you to spoil anyone so much! Few could take it and not have it change their behavior. (I know, I've spoiled like that as well, and had it be a bad thing for both of us.)

Love the pic of your two critters napping together. Positively adorable, Willy! cool

RE: Finding someone....

The lack of loving arms to turn to at the end of a hard day, and not having someone to make love with regularly.

Other than that, it's the blessings of it that come to mind. wine

RE: Your most hated household chore?

Honestly, I'd rather do everything else on that list ten times over rather than ever have to cook a meal. When I do cook, it's good, but it's simple fare. But I consider it the most onerous of chores.

RE: The Origin of Religion

Ooby, good thread. I know that religious beliefs go very far back in our history, certainly at least as far as Paleolithic man. There was a time when people lived in harmony, had a matriarchal society, and believed in honoring nature and wasting nothing. I think it's something we need to return to in order to survive.

The spread of Christianity also spawned the spread of greed and corruption in this world, and with it came a lot of wars and killing. With the addition of industry and technology, we now produce air and even food that kills us. Not enough people still hear the heartbeat of the Earth and honor it, or try to live with as little impact upon Earth and all of its denizens as possible.

And no, I didn't get OT. That is all part of what's involved in my religious path. It's what I mean when I say I'm a druid and follow the old ways. wine

RE: my day started off badly

My heart goes out to you, Anna. My dad had a similar thing happen with one of our cats when I was young. He pulled in the back driveway, remembered he needed to be in the front one, and backed out. In the meantime, without him knowing it, our cat had lain down behind the back tire, and he ran it over. Killed it immediately. He was heartbroken, and he felt so bad for me...so, knowing how he felt (and he remembers it to this day, about 40 years later), I can imagine how you felt as well. hug hug

RE: SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP IS IMPORTANT WHAT DO U THINK?

So very true, Morgan. And one must keep their ears and eyes open for warning signs. I've learned not to get so involved with what I'm feeling that I ignore what I'm hearing, or behavior that I'm seeing. I tread carefully now rather than rushing in where angels fear to tread. wine
