It's a feeling when you see that other person of being home and of all being right in your world when you're with them. A deep feeling that reverberates to your soul, so that your whole being is filled with it whether they're there or not.
You're right, Gilly...I never have. Honestly, quite the opposite. I have slept so motionlessly that I had a Sgt put a mirror to my nose to make sure I was still breathing.
Scuba, there are more unscrupulous medical practitioners around than there are unscrupulous alternative practitioners. But I agree that to totally dismiss allopathic (western) medicine is also wrong. It has its place in treating trauma, diagnosing conditions, and treating acute illnesses. However, they're not good for long term management of illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. And allopathic medicine doesn't do well at prevention of any diseases. That's where naturopathic medicine comes in. And some people do need higher levels of vitamins and minerals than others, and we all need them from natural sources, not chemical sources.
"There is no such thing as an essential drug. Drugs don't play a normal role in human biology. Health problems are not caused by drug deficiencies. Drug side effects occur for this very reason...because they aren't part of the normal workings of the body." ~Linda Page, Ph.D, Traditional Naturopath
It's my understanding that they tried (unsuccessfully) to pass laws restricting the sale of herbal supplements, and making you have to get them through your doctors, just like England has now. Again, it's why I admire Australia and New Zealand...your countries have enough people who are awake, aware, and willing to fight your government. The US is full of "sheeple" more than people still...and they're waking up way too slowly. Funny, though...Obama seems to be wakening the masses finally...disappointment in "the messiah" is making many see the light. Finally.
Good luck to you. I hope you do find them all homes, SweetSong. And you're very sweet to take them in. My parents took in a pregnant stray female once, two days before she had her litter. We made a bed for her in the garage in a drawer of a dresser we had out there, and she knew exactly what it was for, cooperated very well. She used to "gift" us with a dead, mutilated mouse or bird daily after she recovered. (And guess who got to clean it when dad was out on a trip?)
Hey, if I contribute change for more twinkies do I get to join you guys? At least with the three of us, it would be world domination for the good of all!
Yes, but here in the US, that bill would still pass...not enough here care, J.D...and I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just explaining why people here fight it. And our politicians don't back down, they sneak things in behind our backs.
Trust me, if it gets too bad here, I'll expat there as soon as my sons are grown. I'm getting very fed up with our politicians.
Yes, but we have a diet filled with lots of sugar, refined carbs and grains, processed foods with tons of additives, chemicals and poisons...and a high rate of smokers. When people change their lifestyles we'll see a decrease in these. And yes, it's that simple.
Paws, I agree that free health care would be wonderful...but then, most of the countries you've mentioned have also put strict regulations on herbal supplements and alternative therapies, making them harder to access. I'm afraid that would happen here, and it's not right. Why have we fought it so far? Because there's always been restrictions of our rights included in the bills for it...and we don't like to have our rights restricted.
Now, if they can offer the free health care and leave alternative/natural/holistic medicine alone, and not take away any of our rights with it, I wouldn't mind it at all.
And another reason we don't like it? If it's not good enough for our president and government employees, why is it good enough for the rest of us? We usually decide something like this stinks to high heaven in some way if that's the case.
I'll wait for the real thing, Bentlee...this wouldn't normally be on my diet, but I'll make an exception for the real stuff! I didn't know that, though, or I'd have looked for it when it would've been in my diet.
And you should be proud of your heritage! I've always loved to hear Scots and Irish speak...especially if you speak Gaelic...and that's a language I'd love to learn. (The majority of my heritage for that would be Southern Irish, though.)
Sure! Bodle posted the recipe...we've just got to find the ox secum and the lamb heart and lungs...got a butcher shop around here that would probably have it all, too!
No, Bodle, you probably don't! I know, but it won't stop me from trying it! We only live this life once, after all! Believe me, if I'm ever offered it, I'll be trying it...especially if I'm blessed enough to be in Scotland when I do!
No, Ave...not that I've seen here. I was listening to some cowboy songs because of the other thread, and while I was looking at other Toby Keith songs I saw this one...had to play it, and then thought to post this. I can't help it, I always think of her when I hear it.
I do my best not to judge others, Wonder. It's not my right...we all have to answer to our Higher Selves, and to the Universe. And I'm not perfect, nor without sin..."He who is without sin may cast the first stone."
When this song came out I laughed so hard because it reminded me of my younger sister. Just how bad is she? When my late husband was diagnosed with his cancer she called after my parents told her...asked "OMG, how are you handling this?"...and before I could complete the first sentence of my answer...well, listen, you'll get the drift.
Let's just say Toby Keith pegged her well! (My mom and dad laughed their butts off when I mentioned it to them, but my sister never saw the humor in it...or the reality.)
RE: Dog Accessories vs Human Poverty
I do understand your frustration, Scuba. There are times it just doesn't seem fair, eh?It's not worth hurting yourself over it though.
