This whole senario is not unlike a few times where I had lost my patience on my comstruction jobs with spoiled sub-contractors. A few times I fired the whole bunch of them - and it cost me dearly for the delay in finding new help to finish the jobs. I quickly learned that you get more cooperation and better production by not ruling with an iron fist. I made concessions and as did they and we all got along.
I agree the unions are self-serving money grubbing worthless mafia organizations......but if I were that governor - I'de be smart enough to take steps in increments to chop away at their power. Some businesses do benefit by and actually want unions in order to have one entity to negotiate with for employee's wages and benefits. If the union is reasonable the relationship model does work and allows more production and less time dickering with employees indivual issues .....
California isn't unlike many other states that have a severe budget crisis...... All these states have been in need of trimming the fat in government and public and state employees pay and benefits for quite some time......... But the way that Wis governor is obviously union-busting is way outta line ........it's to abrupt and extreem And, It'll serve to re-kindle and escalate the fighting between the parties to a point where absolutley nothing will be accomplished......
Yes, I heard from a CHP officer today that his lifetime pension was being reduced to only 60% instead of 90% ( that's 90% of his salary and overtime for life !! ) He said he's quitting his job over the issue ......
I have to say .......when I saw our US Aircraft carrier headed to Libya in the news this evening ......I became very ILL ! When are we ever going to learn to let others sort their own country's issue out - as they have clearly asked us to ? I am becomming embarrased to say I am American .........
One thing for sure.....when the smoke clears - that governor is gonna have an entire state of workers who will forever make an effort to throw wrenches in the cogs....he and everyone else will suffer from it until he's out of office. I do hope the issues will be addressed in all the other states - but in the fashion of a "bull in a china shop" method as he's employed.........
Those "Commy Democrats " have the full respect and support of the people who elected them..........they ARE doing their job by staying away and stalling a vote. I have to admit I am somewhat pleased to see those public employees clipped for salary or benefits .....but completely stripping them of bargaining rights is wrong !
I know that Ttom......I was just stirring the pot ...... I've skiied most of those places - Jackson Hole Wy was my favorite ......knee knocking at the top of some of the adbanced runs - but cold ...very very cold .....some had battery powered goggles and gloves
RE: Trouble in Wisconsin Unions yea or nay
Keep your eye on the "handwriting on the wall".....just a suggestion .......
