Actually not sure if it was 1934 or 1932 but there was a referendum in Western Australia to succeed from the Commonwealth of Australia but the crown refused to ratify it. The orrigonal nation was to include the colonies of the north and south islands of new zealand but they opted out at the last minute and WA opted in.
To have an effective government you have to have an effective opposition. I'm not that sure we have either. Mind you if nothing else the opposition certainly make the government look good. I used to watch question time on TV, it was always good for a laugh, now I just find it too depressing. I think a change of government occasionally is a good thing. The libs are good on economics but forget the people and labour is a bit the opposite. The problem is all the others are basically single platform parties who would really stuff things up if given the reigns.
My amendments to the constitution are: Removal of parliamentary privilege when talking about private citizens. Secret ballot on all votes. All sessions of parliament must be attended by all sitting members.
and last Ratifying the 1934 succession referendum.
Dunno about the above never had one. Father/Daughter trips are pretty cool too. Other than heading out to the folks place haven't had much chance, but finished Uni now so hope to do a bit more now. Don't go leaving them much, get a bit lost without them underfoot.
In W.A. in most cases pedestrians have right of way especially on corners UNLESS it is a controlled intersection (lights). Crossing against the lights is a $150 fine and you have no right of way or right to compensation if hit. Same applies to crossing the road within (I think) 15 metres of a pedestrian crossing.
An old nickname due to the fact I tend to wear gear with a lot of Pockets. Pockets that are usually full of all sorts of weird junk. My mate was with me when a lass asked if "That is a gun in your pocket or are you pleased to see me?" He considered it somewhat amusing when on extracting the item from my pocket I declared "No, it's a bike pump but I am pleased to see you" After that it sort of stuck.
66 is double 33 or 2/3 of 99. Also 2/3 expressed in percent when rounded down. 3 short of a 69 (story of my life). The way you end up when you have half a dozen elevens's. The length and specific gravity of two short planks (me?). The odds to one against me developing a meaningful relationship with someone other than Rosie Palmer. 17 more than the number of stokes by a cat-o-nine-tails usually considered fatal. Approximately half the distance of the first flight of the Kittyhawk.
I'm a little concerned about who supplied your prescription if you didn't notice it was missing until you poked yourself in the eye! Maybe the "someone up there" is actually your optician.
People who push the button at crossings then walk across when there is a gap in traffic, then you have to stop and sit at a pedestrian crossing when there is nobody there.
I sleep on the right hand side of the bed, as you face the foot from the head. Rational? That way the lady is on my left and I'm right handed. If I roll on my left side to face her I then use the hand more dexterous!
Yelling out "Listen Mum the wheels are talking" when going past KFC, never worked. Putting chewing/bubble gum in glass of water next to bed at night for the next day. Trying to get cold, hard lump of chewing/bubble gum working the next morning. Aching jaw muscles from 2 days of solid chewing tasteless chewing/bubble gum. Not learning from errors past and getting glass of water for gum before going to bed.
Thanks Kizzy, Just heard from mum they're back in W.A. reckoned it was too hot to do much looking around while they were there so made a beeline back here 'cause it was cooler (now there's a first!). No one had heard from them as the old man's phone had crapped it and they were leaving messages and stuff but no one could hear them. Still have extended family over there but at this point I think they are well clear of it.
My prayers are still with those waiting to hear or who have heard the worst.
My thoughts and prayers go to all affected by the tragedies unfolding on the east coast. To those who have lost family and friends I offer condolences. Yet through the suffering and pain shared by a nation so too comes the pride in a people that will band together in the worst of times and assist in any way possible and even those with little or nothing will offer what they have to those they feel need it more. I admit freely I watched with tears streaming as people in the floods in Queensland were offering their emergency payments to those they felt worse off in Victoria. What a people we are.
Special thoughts to those who know not the fate of loved ones while they wait for word. Having waited for two weeks to hear if I still had a father and sister after Cyclone Tracey I know the pain and fear. The wish for a phone call and the dread of a knock on the door.
Yet here I am again wondering the fate of my mum and dad last heard of 2 weeks ago heading from NSW to Vic. Whilst not overly concerned as I know they are mobile, one can start to feel the longing of people wanting to return to their homes and towns to learn the fate of those they love.
I recall other disasters such as the tidal waves and watching those searching ruins and such not looking for possessions or things but for husbands, wives and children, parents and siblings. For while things we own are missed when lost, the hole of a lost loved one cannot be filled.

The most dangerous large animal in Africa is the hippopotamus, but during the construction of the Railway To Nowhere more than 2500 workers were eaten by Lions.
The most dangerous animal on the face of the planet is the mosquito. It has been estimated that in human history malaria has killed more people than anything else.
The male anticinus (? spelling marsupial mouse type thing) mates as many times as possible during the mating season then dies of exhaustion. All of them.
