China was buying the metals (especially lead) because they have been building several huge dams and needed it for the wiring. Also, the ongoing war in the middle east has cause many of the military ammunition contract providers (every notable US ammunition manufacturer) to divert the majority of their production lots to selling to Uncle Sam, rather than John Q. Public...
Umm Vonney, firearms are all but banned in England and Australia (except things like hunting shotguns which don't make for good use in crime since they're so bulky), yet their violent crime rate is astronomical. All people would do if you could snap your fingers and make firearms disappear would be to make (and use) improvised weapons (pipes, clubs, chains, etc...) to commit crime. And for your edification, the most commonly used edged weapon used in assaults in America is the humble screwdriver, available for $3.99 at any 7-11 (open 24/7/365). Even better, the don't jam, run out of ammunition, are quiet (except for the victims screams) and are very effective at punching vicious, deep holes in the victim. Incidentally, kitchen forks are #2 (best of all, felons can carry both of these without fear of legislation or restriction based upon their vocational calling. Forks make ghastly wounds by the way...
Maybe we need to ban both of these god awful weapons of mass destruction. And how many people are killed (accidentally, negligently, and intentionally) with cars each year? I'm writing congress! See criminals are criminals because they don't follow the law. There will always be purloined military weapons available on the black market that were discarded, stolen, or abandoned by militaries from countries all over the world. Don't believe me? I worked in a prison for seven years. The inmates had no access to firearms, yet still they created improvised weapons to use on both staff and fellow prisoners. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Actually the gun bans won't come for another year or two Zee. But my friends at ATFE hinted that there is a 300% FET (Federal Excise Tax) increase planned to start in Jan 2009. Followed by another 200% increase the following year. Banning guns is hard. Raising the cost of ammunition to $10.00 a bullet is simple. They will just tax firearms out of the affordability range of the common man. Once the ammo supple cries up, I'd suggest investing in reloading equipment. Thank you to all the Obama voters out there! Way to go...
Unless you're a burgler, in which case, you can go through whenever you want. And I bet those locked doors wouldn't be too much trouble either... Just my 2 cents worth <nodding>
Buster, much like everyone else says, I think it depends on the person. When I was 31, I dated a 20 year old nursing student who was just as mature (if not more) as I was. For it to be a true relationship there needs to be more than a physical connection between y'all.
So to sum it up, as long as she's 18 or older- Have Fun!
I'd walk, but I'm 38 and am too tired to play games. At your age there are MANY fish in the sea Mystical. When you get older, your options decrease and you settle for less than ideal or ambiguous situations (or not). Don't compromise unless there's something really compelling about him. Just my 2 cents...
Out of curiosity, and have been in a remotely similar situation with being the first responder at a traffic accident on the interstate in which the victim was clearly going to die (ejected through the front windshield, no seatbelt on, severed arm held on only by gristle with blood everywhere), she asked me if she was going to die. I was stupified and without speech, so I told her "I'm no doctor, but I think you're going to be ok." I held her hand while she died as the paramedics worked the other victims (triage). Is it wrong to lie to people about stuff like that, if you're fairly certain of the outcome? Just curious, still haunts me after 15 years of being a cop... And sorry to be the dark cloud, this one still confounds me...
RE: Gun Sales BOOM across the US....
Well Met Kansan!
