RE: Should Emoticons Be Banned?

rolling on the floor laughing very good!laugh and also the reverse 'This site is for the inadequate only'...laugh

One good purpose a few of the emoticons do serve is by insertion at certain points is that it may help others to understand that what was said, was meant as a joke/meant to be funny/ or not/ not to be taken seriously/ to be taken with sarcasm...or not.
Many times what has been posted has been misinterpreted; emoticons, a shorthand, symbolic means of clarification for those both adequate enough and those insufficiently adequate to refer to as to how they should interpret the post; but they are not guaranteed to do so for the obtuse...those types will always find some reason to start arguments...sigh

RE: World War III

When it finally starts, you may wish to think on this little new factor, as we all know, war is dumb, but now, so are its survivors:
A new study out of Great Britain highly suggests that it might be better to be stupid if you're ever called up to fight in a war.
After analyzing death records and IQ scores of soldiers who fought in WW2, researchers found that more intelligent soldiers more likely to be killed. While the soldiers who died had an average IQ score of 100.8, the survivors who had taken the same test scored an average of 97.4
Past research has proven that, under 'normal' conditions, smart people tend to live longer than average, BUT this study indicates that you better be smart enough to dodge the draft in order to get the benefits of intelligence... (New Scientist)
laugh professor grin
(I've always been against the very idea of drafting, anyway.)

RE: Is there a probability of an alien contact in our lifetime ?

Astronomers from the University of Edinburgh have crunched the numbers and now claim that there are an estimated 37,964 planets with life in our galaxy. The calculation used data from the 330 known planets to us and extrapolated the number across the entire Milky Way. The astrophysicist who led this research also promised that as many as 361 of those planets would be home to intelligent civilizations at least as developed as our own. Those further away will be much more developed and guessed that on a normal earth time basis, that it will take about 300 or so years to achieve contact with one of them, barring, of course, any of those making open contact with us. (The Telegraph). Meanwhile in other news from 'Jolly Ol' England' comes this amusingly morbid news: A survey of dead people in the UK has found that Monty Python's: "Always Look on the Bright Side Of Life" has topped the charts as the most popular alternative funeral song. Runners-up in this 'cryptic' category were Jam's "Going Underground" and the Animals "We Gotta Get Out of This Place"....grin

RE: Choose between a traditional marriage (death do you part) or a five year renewable contract.

The 'til death do us part' in this day and age is kaput; over; no one has the depth of such commitment, nor the patience, let alone the dedication to leave other potential mating partners alone.
The 'til death do us part' may in fact be an inducement to murder the other...(after abusing them for years)sigh

RE: Waaay to far!!!

While I can sympathize with what may be going through your mind, why bother, really, on cutting your 'naked time'? Outdoors, I can understand,(sunburn?laugh ) but indoors, in the so called 'privacy of your own home'? 'Live free'! in the words on many 'naturalists'; we all have seen; we all know each other under our respective clothes; no 'big deal' except perhaps to the religious nuts and certain types of politicians who find even one single bare breast as something 'obscene'...remember Janet Jackson and the court ruling that a woman's breast IS obscene; what were women supposed to do, cut theirs off so that (god be helped!) that she won't commit an obscene act in front of any male; husband and Boyfriend included, as the court ruling did not specify under what circumstances a woman's breast may not be deemed as obscene...(Ever wonder what would have happened if that 'wardrobe malfunction' had occurred on a man...rolling on the floor laughing oh well...
How and when it all started goes back to the Intelligence agencies and their needs to somehow listen to those they deemed as 'an enemy of the State' and their systematic miniaturization of microphone and recording technologies. The application of those devices were never made inapplicable to anyone, let alone ordinary citizens by any specific laws. Certainly the directives for spying by certain agencies to be done outside the US was rendered academic by foreign spies not staying in their own countries...laugh then you had all the domestic spies being recruited and using 'dupes' ; it just went on totally unchecked, and ignored. Another 'oversight'...as usual, by all agencies; your tax dollars at work to keep you safe...(and secretly entertain your friends at the security agencies watching ...grin It is way too late to stop. There would never be any legislative branch of any govt. that would dare to unequivocally declare it illegal or clearly and honestly forbid it;50 years ago, perhaps. With ALL the electronics research and development going on now by ALL the intelligence agencies and ALL the military branches, we will ALL soon be under 24-7 scrutiny unless all electronics are knocked out everywhere...by either EMP bursts or by Cyber warfare virus's...
One agent, I knew, joked about that one day, we can turn our TV dial to watch the new shows showing your neighbors and friends if you have the right satellite receptacle...BREAK OUT THE POPCORN!!laugh Remember the subtitle of the film, Dr. Strangelove? It was, "Or How I Learned To Love The Bomb"...When the Bomb goes off, a massive EMP is released and then, basically, no more electronics; they're fried and we're free...will the electronic that are shielded from potential EMP bursts survive?? Who knows, those 'shields' have never been tested in any war...yet. But that clock is ticking away somewhere...sigh

RE: Waaay to far!!!

you mean a rectorial inquiry..??laugh

RE: Can somebody please explain this?

AH! Wait til you see or find the males listed as 'females' wearing bits and pieces og women's clothing; trouble/ fun is that they aren't wearing wigs; haven't shaved their legs or arms...laugh
I don't understand the hows or whys those photos are up; how could CS NOT know? Unless, perhaps someone at CS is having fun ...weird.laugh

RE: Waaay to far!!!

They are the ones being targeted for future Cyber warfare programs' if they are smart, as China is, develop cyber warfare viru's now in case of a 'preemptive strike' that will knock out all of their electronics like an EMP burst, then launch self replicating virus's to combat anti-virus programs...etc. etc. Think about what would not be infected once this happens...

RE: Waaay to far!!!

No more so than all the types of ultra tiny electronic bugs that can without detection be put unto/ into your clothing both for pulse and listening while tracking. You can now even buy clothes 'off the rack' and the bugs are there dormant, just waiting to be turned on...refinement of the fiber optics idea from the early 80's to activate built in remote view-cameras into TV sets...you watch TV; it watches you back and recording just like a security cam...
Such a comfort...grin

RE: Waaay to far!!!

Who in their right mind would...no permission, no warrants etc. are needed , especially when 'national security' is invoked; recall the Goggle intrusions...

RE: Waaay to far!!!

That type has been around for some years now, not facial recognition programs. Word recognition has already been applied to all social networks as several cases have revealed in cases against wanted criminals and wanted suspects. Cases of suspected 'terrorists' that have been 'tagged/ flagged by such programs are fed to the NSA computers at Fort Detreich, Maryland for further actions; this also identifies the computer, location and registered owner ....doesn't it all make anyone, everyone secure...

RE: What About Investment Advice?

The New World Order believe very deeply in G O D,
GOLD, OIL, DRUGS; hint, hint, nod, nod, wink, wink...

RE: Waaay to far!!!

There was a 'news capsule' on NPR a few days ago that mentioned former FBI execs being in charge of Facebook's security; is it any wonder then that Facebook comes up with unavoidable face recognition software that users cannot avoid...I would imagine all other so called social networks will have that, if not already in use without their clientele being aware of it. Look for more quiet but intrusive programs to be applied as more former intelligence people take on jobs at these sights...perhaps even with the ability to direct virus's to specific clients and/or track them , all in that ubiquitous phrase of 'national security'...oh well, it does beat George Bush and his ilk from listening in on your phones all with the gleeful approval of the NSA...grin

RE: Was Germany's Worst-Ever Food-Poisoning Caused Deliberately?

Some said the same thing after some subway tunnels were sprayed with hallucinogenics and a deadly nerve gas by the CIA,(all on record)They had 'to test them somewhere'... real funny,,,to all the relatives of those that died. (extreme sarcasm)

RE: Was Germany's Worst-Ever Food-Poisoning Caused Deliberately?

Unfortunately, that was my first thought as when the 'authorities' stated that the origin of the suspected vegetable(S) could not be traced...as far as I know, all cross Euro foods must be labeled as to point of origin. So far , here, it is law that only 'organic vegetables' must be labeled as to their place of origin in case of any 'health risks'...only organic foods??? Weird.

RE: Justice for Osama. An Englishman speaks his mind.

I had a good laugh ; sarcastic or not; disrespectful of the vast majority of Muslims or not; however that English buffoon is wrong about about Islam as a whole, which number in the millions of people, don't forget, is at war with the West. If ALL Muslims were indeed at war with the West, we couldn't leave our homes. They outnumber us and under a state of all out Holy War, acceded to by all their religious leaders, we simply would be over run , be slaughtered everywhere we are ...get real and curtail this BS about 'Islam being at war with the West and/or the 'Wild West' of the US.

RE: Freedom

The above, I dare say, also goes for men. There are all sorts of 'freedoms' one can have, be they/it by choice, circumstances...or the type(s) that can enhance your life as well as someone else's
but that type takes effort and compromise. Other than that, you can try relying on 'temporary', 'spur of the moment' people to fill your wants/ needs; not very satisfying at all in the long run. Those usually add up to a more acute sense of loneliness. A possible danger there is while contemplating your predicament; your choices, is to turn inward. That only leads to depression and other problems; don't go there...Time tends to slip by and you are stuck there with all sorts of negative thoughts and emotions that leads then to isolation. That is not what you want, believe me.
Keep an open mind and an open heart but be realistic with those who you decide to allow into your life; stay positive!wine

Nearest to you would be the Yucatan Caribbean coast of Mexico,(no pollution) for all year living. Check out the real estate for instance of Merida, Mexico. Many Canadians are living half or full time down on the 'Playas' and the Mayan people are great.

RE: what is the most attractive in women?

Poll Question: what is the most attractive in women?
Poller: harris34

The ability, the desire to be female and not simply (become)women males which is not as attractive for many men...just because we both have the tools to change both our physiognomy and our psychology doesn't mean that it necessarily be for the better to alter our respective natures from one to another...
