I love the Kama Sutra; have several editions as far back as the 1840's, including an adult colouring book version!!rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Was the Bible wrong?

If you are referring to that lunatic pastor's prediction of the Apocalypse, it is in what is now called "The Book of Revelation" in most Bibles, if not removed by some insane zealots bent on printing their own versions...
It is the last book of the New Testament, entitled "The Apocalypse Of St. John the Apostle". The word apocalypse means "an unveiling" and indicates that the writing is classed as prophetic. It is also declared that it is "of" St. John,i.e.,written by St. John. There has been disputes as to whether St. John was actually the author, but internal evidence, the method of its outline, and other numerous factors indicate without doubt that he was the writer.
The book itself is difficult to interpret since it contains teaching, instructions, direct and indirect prophecy, visions, and all are presented in symbolic language, leaving it all open to innumerable interpretations especially with /by those with questionable motives and/ or agendas.
It is divided into three parts: a prologue, the main book itself, and an epilogue. Its single theme is the final triumph of Christ in an antichrist world and the assurance of resurrection in Christ for those who are faithful. This book is "Revelations". It also makes it very clear that no one, knows when, let alone the exact hour when Christ shall return. Evangelicals and other lunatic fringe types do not like that and wish to convince all others that they, in fact, have a direct line to Christ , even that bloodthirsty Old Testament "God", Jehovah, and will know for sure when the Apocalypse will occur to the day, hour and minute.
Yeah, right...

RE: END OF THE WORLD

I love the psychotic arrogance of these small, isolated, brooding and ranting pro apocalyptic evangelical types that take it upon themselves to speak to and for the entire planet of Humankind' If they truly wish to help humankind, please, commit mass suicide.

RE: Anyone rapturing yet?

Well, if that 'pastor' isn't 'enraptured', perhaps someone should rupture him for his phony prediction...laugh

RE: Thank you Mr president Obama

Good point as the European Union has declared it a right for all people to have a home, perhaps that idea can be stretched a bit to include the Palestinians and other refugee/ Stateless peoples and actually follow through on its application...and the will to back it up...peace

RE: Educated Dummies

Oh for sure; we are all in various conditions unfit to be misunderstood, at times rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Thank you Mr president Obama

it certainly is lonnnnnnng overdue, including Israel. It would be good timing if all the everyday, ordinary Israelis who do wish to live in peace with the ordinary, everyday Palestinians would rise up against those pro war anti Palestinian state govt. policies of theirs , that a peace is put into place and the new State of Palestine be born without prejudice. Push aside all those factions, parties and individuals with all their agendas of continual warfare and hatreds , in fact bar them on both sides from any participation in negotiating a Peace settlement and a new Palestine. As is said by many:"Out with the old; in with the new!" Let the common, ordinary, everyday people prosper for a change; no more grieving mothers, families over dead sons and daughters bombed to death because of psychotic political policies that only promote death and destruction for all. Hell, hold a plebiscite for all Palestinians and Israelis to declare peace without the politicians; go around them...Something!
Ok. I've had my rant for the day, I think.... wine

RE: Educated Dummies

So what else is new...the man should have said: "you study hard and parrot what the teachers want to hear and you get good grades..." It's always been that way; unfortunately nearly everywhere to even get a cheap PHD...Estimated projected costs for colleges will soon be 32,000 dollars a year, while in Europe, under a democratically elected free-enterprise/ socialist system that always form a viable coalition, college and university costs are free. Go figure.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: we should all unite

Fantastic; so well said. Bravo!applause
You have said in open public what I have basically heard in private by most of the Americans I know or have known while living there; even a few well known authors who chose to leave to live and write elsewhere such as one of my favourites, Gore Vidal, now living in Ravello. His books on the America that you have described above are gems of history , sadly, mostly unknown in the States, such as Imperial America; it's mostly unknown history in Inventing A Nation and his essays on The Second American Revolution are as remarkable as they are illuminating to a people so long brainwashed by their 'ministries of Truth' that they do believe anything they are told to believe because it is 'patriotic' to do so and if not, then you are 'against us' as one of their limited term dictators said. That is the logic of destruction, both to the world at large and on their own nation as well...and so many cheer while what they think they love or do really love, comes crashing down around them as in a slow motion sequence. Thank you for a truly great post!! ENCORE!!applause cheering wine

RE: what was the best gift that u have ever got!!!

"There but for the Grace of God"...could apply to most of us as our parent or parents held our fates in hand and did choose before or after birth to keep us...interesting perspective to have taken. Should make us all think...pssibly we made the same decision and commitment for our own children...
With all that in mind, mine would be ,regardless, having my two children. My only real hope is that they somehow make this a better world.wine

RE: What's your preference?

I dare say that many men would like to find a woman like that; it would be a welcome change to the tedious and seemingly endless nights out bar and club hoping and the usual dancing frenzies that many women crave as their way to 'being alive'. I found that it all gets rather boring , never mind expensive; it all becomes superfluous as if all relationships depend on that hectic lifestyle that seems more and more like a duty and obligatory.
Many seem to regard staying home, watching movies, cooking, shopping in markets together, going on picnics or god forbid, going to art galleries and museums or even riding the ferry boats as something approaching senility for only the decrepit...
From what I've seen of the world and experienced, I take the above any day. Hell with the world at large, I don't need it or its frenetic pace to be as proof of life.wine

RE: Your Dream Job

Paint for money during a recession??rolling on the floor laughing
That means going way below even a small profit after the expenses for all the materials like canvas, paints, frame and an average per hour factored in. The fine arts patrons run dry except for the auctions and gallery sales.
Yes, I can relate to the chief Antiquarian/ cataloger/ archivist at the ancient Library; always had since childhood; if only I could go back in Time and retrieve all that lost knowledge...
Let's put it this way, I've had access to much more of the photos of certain parts of Mars, especially Cydonia . From all that I have seen, including tons of computer analysis and image enhancements, I fully agree with the Society For Planetary SETI Research and Vincent DiPetro and Gregory Molenaar about the ruins of monuments and what could be the remnants of cities scattered over the planet, but more so at the region of Cydonia and some are massive ruins. The computers tried every image combination with light and shadow to analysis of radar findings from these objects some revealed what are considered mathematically produced angles beyond what our eyes can see on many of those photos...to me the ruins are real and I would love to have been the first explorer/ archeologist there and explore them.
There are a few good books loaded with photos on the commercial market even one by Graham Hancock, called The Mars Mystery.
In ancient records of Sumeria, it was said that Mars was indeed inhabited but as a old colony of those "who came down from Heaven to Earth..." While we may know the age of the Sumerian cuneiform tablets, we have no real idea how old their history is from the tablets other than many are said to pre date 'the flood' of the world...

RE: What percentage chances are to find a partner abroad ?

seems somewhat similar to 'board'; any type of 'board; meeting the chairman of the board...sits there at a desk with some old board beside the desk with a yellow sticky on it: 'the board'...I like conceptual art renditions...grin

My sentiments exactly; the percentage that you find out your partner is a broad is rather high if you are 'an average male'laugh

RE: R U a senior?

applause cheering

Replacing the govt. epithet 'senior' and not connoting being 'disabled'?? That is a bi of a challenge; how about 'post middle aged person', or perhaps' post drama citizen'...no, wait, that could simplt be anyone that has survived their teenage syndrome...'slower person'? Only possible negative connotation there could be that some would assume they are slow-minded...English is very elastic, I'm sure an alternative to 'senior' can be found that will not imply any sort of 'disability' as it is to many a rather 'tasteful outrage'laugh
Of course there is always 'priapic', for men and 'priapictress' for women of 'age'...stretching the English language a bit...laugh

RE: R U a senior?

'Senior' is another relative term, just as 'old'. Who decides when you are old? Are you old just because some govt. says you are? Are you 'old' when you stop doing cart-wheels or flinging food from your fork to hit a child relative at the dinner table??? Only you can decide if you are 'old' but hey, you can always change your mind...laugh

RE: OK..Atheist here..so why...............

Well if you lived in North America, you'd have Jehovah's Witnesses at your door all the time damming you, and your whole families then asking you to come to their meetings; Mormons would also be there claiming you as one of theirs and asking if they also can claim all your family and even your ancestors...very weird but at least they are polite. They both love to talk about love and love of their God but you would have to reciprocate your love and we all can guess what that would lead to.
Blond, white women are THE status symbol to have especially for many of the non-white peoples and I have known many that were tormented and abused by their non European husbands and their families who regard Western women as mere chattel, especially the white blond variety which to many seem to be the (their) symbol of the decadent West, as I have had it explained to me by several of those...I've commented to them that thankfully the West does not regard their women like that and usually their attitudes were a collective 'so what', we don't care...'
Do we really believe that schmaltz about 'it takes all kinds'? I certainly don't believe that anyone NEEDS those types around...

RE: Military History

That should prove fairly easy as lots of books have been written on that unit. I remember seeing one large book of engravings of their battles along with a few others on the American Civil War in an antique book shop in Munich along with many others on various battles and wars. Most had all been printed in the mid to late 1870's to 1880's. Some were in English, French, German, etc.
Munich has several really nice antique military history bookstores.

RE: Military History

Thank you! Appreciate it...somewhere in my Napoleonic war collection I do have the book, but at a quick retrieval of French and Foreign Regiments, I checked with my 2 volume set L'uniforme Et Les Armes Des Soldats Du Premier Empire by Funken, published by Casterman, 1969,France with all colour depictions...sue enough I did find the Legion Irlandaise, devenue 3rd regiment etranger yet found no references to it at all in The Campaigns Of Napoleon, by David Chandler, 1966...it should have at the least a footnote ...I've always thought it a shame that none of its officers ever wrote a history of it or any diaries/ journals have surfaced from its members; same with the Scots that served in the Czar's Imperial Army against Napoleon from the settlements there that Baron Barcley de Tolly, a Scots became the second in command under Kutosov...so much history lost.wine

RE: Where is the capital of Japan?
