RE: Military History

From my viewpoint there is one real necessity to study that history. Modern technologies are seriously compromising many functions and abilities of both soldiers and officers. When the technologies become to advanced, that all measures and countermeasures to this new electronic warfare are used, it will inevitably fail and cancel each side out. The 'old ways' to attack and defeat an enemy will be resorted to where possible even to going back to vacuum tubes, learning how to actually using a real compass and perhaps signal flags. What one side uses, the other will counter it, especially in all electronics and especially in all computer based systems which is now leading to new replicating virus attacks and counter virus's...Smart ammo and bombs has set off imaginations to create even smarter anti smart bombs etc. It is in a spiral that is self generating until any and all sides using electronics cancel each other out. It can't be avoided. "Victory", however nebulous, will be with those resorting to both knowledge of old warfare, battles and tactics along with rather 'primitive weapons' of yesteryear...

RE: Military History

One of the greatest series of dioramas with thousands of miniature figures was created for the film Waterloo with, I believe Rod Steiger playing Napoleon; a slight improvement but not much on Herbert Lohme's portrayal of him, Those dioramas are now in one of the British military museums.
I started making mine when around ten or so and had joined a few of the miniature societies in Europe and in Canada. Some of mine were actually displayed by hobby shops, banks and other places, Recreated battles included not only Napoleonic figures that I had to make myself but ancient Romans and Germanic tribes, Carthaginians, the foreign troops at Balaclava to the first World War opening phases and the trench warfare of the closing stages and naturally some of the American Civil War and the famed Battle of the Alamo which actually won me some prizes...Many were sold but a few I still have. It is a great hobby to either come from reading a lot of military history or that causes you to read a lot of it, not to mention the costs of all the materials and paint... My favourites were all the foreign troops that went into Russia and took parts at the battle of Borodino and beyond....laugh

RE: who was it first who said Christ was God...?

Most likely, his first lover when she yelled out "OH GOD!"...

RE: Military History

You forgot all the religious zealots that have made their seemingly never ending contributions to the histories of bloodbaths; Christians,(of all denominations), Jews, Muslims, the Thugees who worshiped Kali, etc. Hell, even the poor old Doukhobors who just wanted to be naked and live quietly, sparked of violence and bloodshed by those unwilling and very intolerant to live around naked people...(taking the overall and simplistic view and with tongue -in-cheek) and now those American right-wing Evangelicals who have brought us their New World Order wars for planetary dominance; "Praise da Lord and bomb everybody!"laugh

RE: why do some middle aged men date young girls. are they afriad to date a real woman???

I can appreciate the bit about the fear of growing older being a total turn off, but that seems to be the North American hang-up regarding age; not so in Europe. We all know we will and so what...all perfectly natural from the day that we are born. For myself, personally, I find it is usually the persona that so many seem to effect that is a total turn-off, then that very negative "been there, done that" altitude which is both a rejection of any hopes for a relationship or of any positive attitudes towards life; everything, everyone is a 'has been'...who needs that.

RE: why do some middle aged men date young girls. are they afriad to date a real woman???

Over the years I've know and met a lot of middle aged and older men who prefer dating younger women. At times this subject would come up and the general consensus was that 'real women' as you call them, were boring, usually so self centered as to make any conversation useless and pointless; the most mentioned was their attitudes, or one could say "altitudes" towards Life in general which can be surmised as "been there, done that' in regards to everything. Very souring effect; there is nothing left for them in life that isn't new...younger women still have a lot to try and experience and with luck, their older men will try and make their experiences something nice. From what I've seen, especially in North America, I concur with those sentiments. Better a 'glamourpuss' than a 'sourpuss'.laugh

RE: Should We Cull The Over-50s??!

I notice that you avoided putting a number to however many of the youth may survive the next war that some cabal/ gang of old farts start and possibly any other subsequent war which will plow the youth,(as always) into the dirt as more worm food. Worms do not discriminate as to age of dead humans. Dead is dead but 'the youth' remain irrational and the 'old' are calculating; those who start wars take all to die for whatever garbage they are fed by the warmongers; they die and become garbage...patterns of insanity.

RE: "One" Of The Most Ridiculous Things I've Seen People Put In Their Profiles...

Perhaps by listing what they do not want, they expect others to either guess or be psychic and actually knowing what it is that they do want...(games again)yawn
Perhaps they want Comedy as so many others declare that they want 'someone who can make them laugh'...they want a live-in clown or a comedian, then again perhaps they want a musical, but what kind...
then again they may want (or need) slapstick...yeah, right; just take a stick and slap them with it...laugh

RE: Condemnation and Judgement...

I used to think upon entering a thread that one should have an open mind. I liked to pretend that I was in my 'right mind' if I made a post but sometimes, I came out of the thread in my 'left mind' with the conclusion that what one needed was to have a mind in the first place...but then again, a mind, like most other concepts is relative, just like sanity...
Reading threads in any search for any truth is useless, as Truth is just as relative also; besides, why waste time trying to discover any truth when you can so easily create it? Now that is mind boggling! That is my judgment ...grin

RE: Are you picky?

Standards I have found are constricting and no one ever measures up. Not having standards leaves you open for choice and taking chances based on your 'gut feeling'; not exactly like shopping for fruit or vegetables; certainly not like shopping for a 'good wine' or a 'good cheese'...grin

RE: Give Ur Advise to the World, Please!

ALL politicians could greatly enhance their public images by the simple act of committing suicide.

RE: DEC.12 2012

The only thing mentioned in any of the Mayan codices is that on that date their 'Creator God' who made them in his image will return. That is why it ends and no new one has yet been discovered if there was one. It is the end of the Age. What that portends for humankind, if anything, is basically anyone's guess...

RE: Obama,Cameron and Nicolas Sarkozy are all hypocrites

RE: Obama,Cameron and Nicolas Sarkozy are all hypocrites

Simple: Syria has no oil and no minerals needed by 'the new world order'...

RE: Obama should not be elected to a 2nd term

Axiom rule of politics is that a country gets the leadership that it deserves; he should be forced to serve as President for the rest of his life...and that way, he'll get what he deserves as a country....laugh

RE: I think Obama should.

* Bring all troops home.
* Close Gitmo.
* Stop giving trillions to crooks.
* Resign.
* Move to Denmark.
* All of the above.

I'd agree to all the above except for Denmark; why would you wish to inflict that creature on the Danes...what have they done to deserve such an insult????dunno

Poll Question: Do you think a Woman should cook her man a meal on their first date ? While he watches TV ?

Absolutely; cook big meal, run him a bath, put him in it, put the TV in there also. When it's ready, serve him in the tub and what a shame if she 'accidentally' knocks the TV into his bath...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Punctuation!!!

I won't even go into what kind of man her 'man' is/ was for putting her out into the cold, cruel world in a destitute manner..grin

RE: Punctuation!!!

oh let's have some fun with this:
A woman without;
her man is nothing...

(without, in this case meaning/ referring to her financial condition and/or he domestic condition as being without a home; told to "hit the road", etc.

Long live grammatical terror! laugh

RE: Life ! - AFTER THE SAD REALITY?

They do. In numerous studies of this topic, children born of Irish, Welsh and Indian families scored the highest in confirmed details being 'remembered', but in India, by far, children who have this ability are more numerous and retain those 'memories/ impressions far longer while those of other children dissipate and fade by adult-hood. A very strange phenomenon indeed.

RE: Life ! - AFTER THE SAD REALITY?

When the finality of it takes place, it becomes a never ending bout of depression; you do a lot of self reflection and try to figure out the right answer of the thousand and one reasons that permeate your mind and are thankful for the moments when your mind is free of it all...there is absolutely nothing that you do, or say to alter it...
