I think I am doing my mission on earth - as a doctor I get to help people and save lives.
However, I am not happy where I am at and feel my mission could be "tweaked" a little bit. That is why I am considering opening my own emergency clinic somewhere in the Midwest or Texas. Some state where they have passed Tort reform so my malpractice insurance won't be as high.
The only real pressure we have on us is the pressure we put on ourselves. Many define happiness as having to be in a happy committed relationship, but I think the real definition of happiness is being content on your own OR with someone.
Sometimes we put this stigma on people who are single - like, why in the world have you been single for so long, get over it all ready.
Maybe you are over it, but you are content. The worse thing you could do is get into a relationship when you are pressured from others to do so. It has to be a decision you make by yourself, for yourself.
Rule of thumb for me. If I see forward or send this to anyone else in an email I immediate check out Snopes. Also, never "stop taking medicine" without consulting with your doctor.
your good or service is obviously not something that can save someone's life.
But I do agree that it is annoying to be at a nice quiet dinner only to have someone chatting away loudly on a cell phone.
What is even more annoying is the guy who walk around all the time with an ear piece and you think they are talking to you and they are talking to the stooge on the other end.
I fire her up about every 2 months just to keep the engine turned over. Otherwise I drive it very little. Sometimes around the block. Around Christmas time I usually drive it in a parade or two.
I have a sister on the other end of the world it seems. Dad and mom are gone. My aunt is a nutcase and my aunt's and uncles on mom's side I was never close to.
Sis and I talk regularly on email, that is about the extent of it. She is immature, gets into trouble and is living off her inheritance....in a few years she will be broke and will have no job.
No, it is in beautiful condition. I am saving it for a rainy day. It is an original 68 Camaro with only 45,000 original miles on it. I have it in storage so it is safe.
As a doctor who does not specialize in oncology but who has dealt with many patients who generally come to me either too late or to be stabilized after an injury or illness unrelated to cancer, I can tell you that there are so many cancers it would boggle your mind.
One kind of cancer may respond well to chemo and radiation, while others do not. Some are caused by outside influences such as asbestos while others, like in the case of my grandmother seem to come out of nowhere.
My grandmother was 54 when she died of lung cancer. She had never smoked a single cigarette nor was she around anyone who had. She was a church organist and was a stay at home mom. There were no factors that would explain how she got it.
I can tell you that the American Cancer Society did absolutely nothing for her, and I held a grudge against them for a long time, especially early in my career.
However, when my mother died of brain cancer, they were great, and I have seen them provide many resources to others I have come in contact with.
Do I think cancer is caused by a virus? No. Do I think holistic options can "cure" cancer? No. Do I think holistic options can treat symptoms and improve quality of life. Yes.
to me, marriage is sacred. Before you are legally married, you are just in a mutual agreement that either party can decide to do away with with little to no legal ramifications.
But when you are married, it is duly recognized by the state. There are other rights such as visitation, etc. which are much easier to bypass when legally married.
