RE: calling all christians!

no,i don't like arguments. i don't like wee lassies like yerself who go around looking to cause trouble and then start bubbling when they find it.

RE: calling all christians!

yeah. it's feels even better when some silly wee lassie comes along and trys to pick an argument. jog on

RE: Dating cheap men of the new world

what? i take money out my girlfriends purse all the time.

RE: what men to avoid

yeah, those are pretty lame. there's much better pointers on how to avoid a bad relationship. i wrote a book on it, "dames with alsations. a life of tears."

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

well, wouldn't it be better to implement a system of health care for all? i mean, i'm not an expert but isn't it odd that whenever something comes along that could benefit all citizens rather than the few, politicians and special interest groups suddenly start screaming about communism? it seems to me that all too often things which could benefit the ordinary person never get anywhere because the media starts spewing out the same old scare stories and of course, people fall for it and get distracted from the real issues because they're deluged by screeching front pages and endless torrents of nonsense presented as information and well, you know, before long they lose interest, stop asking questions and wall street goes back to lunch

RE: Today's thought...........

the best cure for depression? watch almost any t.v news presenter with the sound off. try not to laugh. look at their eyes, look at them twitch. see them struggle not to move their heads more than an inch in any direction. watch as they struggle to keep a straight face as they soothingly regurgitate whatever is written on the teleprompter in front of them. whatever words. whatever they may mean. watch their brows nod forward every once in a while as they adopt a serious, oh, the humanity! expression in order to convince you that what they are saying is important. notice the exact same head movements and tone of voice are also used by the person in the following toothpaste commercial. will you ever take them seriously again? will you ever believe a word they say again? depends on the drug i guess

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

i didn't say i was worried. i said i didn't understand. i mean, that is there right? right there in the first sentence? why yes it is, and look, you've even quoted it. but oddly, there isn't anywhere that says i'm worried about getting free health care in the u.s. i've looked but, nope, can't see it. i can see a sentence that says it's reassureing to know that i can get treatment without worrying about the cost. i see that. that is definitely there but nowhere can i see anything about worrying about getting health care in the u.s. which, you know, is strange because that seems to be what your response is based on and uh, if we're going to debate on things that aren't there then and have never been said then uh, why yes, i do think you should stay away from animals if you have those sort of feelings for them.

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

i've never understood the aversion to an nhs/free at the point of access style health system in the us. yes, the nhs has it's problems but it's reassuring to know that if i ever have any major illness i can get treatment without needing to worry about whether i can afford it or not.

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

the us census bureau reports 46 million were without health insurance in 2007. cnn reports that 86 million were without health insurance at one point or another between 2007/2008. 4/5 were in working families. critics say this is misleading because it is a two year time frame. they didn't explain why the time frame makes any difference though

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

well, it seems absurd that people aren't screaming out for a nationalised health service for all.

RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

are there really 45 million americans without health insurance and access to proper medical care?

RE: Guys: How long before you call her "my girlfriend"?

no, cos even that would sound totally cheesy. the worst one though was a girl i dated some years back who was a big aerosmith fan and she wanted me to call her mama kin. i couldn't do it, creeped me out everytime i tried it.

RE: To All Non-Americans

i realised the other day that ever since i was around 14 i've always had velvet underground and dead kennedys tapes/cds with me. they have been a constant thing in my life. as for the rest, well i've got a collection that spans pretty much every genre

RE: How much are you in debt ???

i owe my mate 20 quid from friday night. ah, ongoing stuff like the cable bill, rent, child maintenance but no credit card debt or any of that kind of stuff. compared to a lot of folk i'm probably ok financially but that's only because i'm an irresponsible a**hole and knowing that kept me away from credit cards and bank loans.

RE: Guys: How long before you call her "my girlfriend"?

usually after about two months or so. but i never really found a term i liked, i don't like the word, "partner." too fussy, too middle class. don't like the word "girlfriend." too much like high school. "better half" is ok but smug guys have kinda ruined it cos they always put a sarcastic twist on it. i don't maybe mon chere, i kinda like that one

RE: Should a person compromise who they are to be with the one they love?

ahh, i see. when men tell women to stop shovelling cake down their throats or have a bath it's because they're evil and wrong but when women do it, it's because they know better

RE: Should a person compromise who they are to be with the one they love?

well, that's not really my fault, i'm an idiot, i don't know any better

RE: Should a person compromise who they are to be with the one they love?

what? women do that all the time. practically every woman who ever slumped across the planet does all those things the minute she gets her claws inta some poor sod. i've loads of girlfriends who did that on an almost daily basis, they moaned about my hair, moaned about my clothes, moaned about my drinking buddies, moaned about my take aways, moaned about my childishness and everything else.

RE: Am I alone in my beliefs that age is something more than just a number?

and you look like a pirate too, which helps

RE: Isn't it great?

yeah, it's always nice to read off others good fortune. gives horrible characters like myself hope. although i guess, it's gonna take more than spring to be in the air for me, a nuclear fallout might be the only thing

RE: Is Obama doing a good job?

well, he's no david ortiz but ya know, who is. i tell ya who's weird, hideki matsui, yeah that yankees guy who's like always there, he's a good player, a great player even, but he's like the invisible guy or something. maybe obama should phone him

RE: The Liberals Have Won.... Your First Amandment is Lost

yes. this is exactly what i thought too. finally, this, this will be the campaign to end all freedom of speech. we've had the mccarthy witch hunts, the f.b.i infiltrating civil rights groups and spreading dissent, the p.m.r.c, the campaign to encourage children to inform on their drug using parents, the numerous campaigns to encourage citizens to inform on their neighbours, the routine eavesdropping on ordinary members of the public, the harvesting of electronic communications, the placing of f.b.i agents in campuses to gather information on students.
there've been hundreds of other attempts to keep the populace quiet and unquestioning and well, damn it, that first amendment just refused to go away. people kept talking but here finally is the masterstroke, if you see something send us an email. brilliant. say goodbye to your freedom of speech republicans because tomorrow we burn the flag and take your children to the tipper gore re-education centre

RE: The Desensitizing of the World

well, i looked at cnn, fox and the beeb today, weirdly, they didn't fill my head with thousands of minutes of death or destruction. guess, i missed those bits. bummer.
i have indeed watched a film loads of times and when the main character died i did cry, it was sad. i didn't watch it over and over again repeatedly because that would ruin it. nobody ever does that. apart from mentals.
i have had the tv on all day, there have been no plane crashes, no terrorist attacks, no school killings, plane hijackings or lone gunmen stslking the streets looking for kittens and puppies to stamp on. bummer.
is empathy a thing of the past? how, exactly? i smile at strangers, i smiled at a checkout girl in the store today, i gave some loose change to a homeless guy a week or so back. held a door open for someone. we all do little things every day that we never think about, that may mean something or nothing to the other person.
what do video games and crazed gunmen have in common? when he has you begging for mercy do you give him a rose? does the gunman deserve a random act of kindness? do video gamers? would they be less crazed if we took their video games away and sent them to church?

RE: Do Men Consider Women Over 40 All Washed Up?

yup, all the good ranchers are married, and all the good cowgirls vote republican.

RE: Do any of you feel this way?

yeah, i'm always looking for the love of a good man, ya know, the kind who won't judge ya when ya pull the butter an lollipops out

RE: Do Men Consider Women Over 40 All Washed Up?

well, there you go. maybe if you did then you'd have some hobbies or do something else, take up terrorism or something, liven up those boring nights

RE: Do Men Consider Women Over 40 All Washed Up?

guys over 40 probably don't, or maybe they do, who knows. you hafta think that most broads over 40 don't really do much but, i don't know, worship madonna and farm cats or something.

RE: Should smokimg By actors in movies and drama be banned

insulting language? where?

RE: Younger male with an older woman

nothing wrong with big martha, they make movies about her, i know, i've seen them. pretty good they are too. i'm not gonna get old, i expect my long suffering g.f will eventually snap one day and bash my head in with a frying pan or something. either that or i'll get drunk an mouthy at a bingo hall and get stomped on by some angry pensioners
