RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Must have been nearly 30C today, absolutely lovely. Hope it's not too cold in the UK as I'm heading there tomorrow.

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Had a few thunderstorms lately but forecast 27C by the end of the week, summer's on it's way cheering

RE: Can anyone tell me why a lot of men will not date women of their own age group?

It seems an unfortunate fact of life that men in my age group, and older, seem to be looking for much younger women. For some reason I keep getting contacted by much younger men who are young enough to be my sons as they seem to think older women are desperate for the atention. One message last week said he's like to see me in thigh high leather boots and leather underwear - it's never going to happen but did make me laugh.laugh

RE: Would you work for 30euro per hour

I would love to work for €30 an hour - over here that's nearly a daily rate for some.

RE: food stamps

In principle it sounds a good idea, but how long before people start 'selling' them for cash.

RE: Cyprus steals British Servicemens money

All monies deposited in banks in Cyprus were guaranteed up to 100k, that is why there was an uproar when the first draft wanted to take money from accounts with less than that. Anyone who had more than that invested must have been aware that only the first 100k was 'safe' and it would have been risky to keep more than that in one account. Banks are set to re-open tomorrow and I'm sure the queues will be enormous, I feel sorry for the bankinfg staff as they will bear the brunt of peoples' frustration, sadly it looks like the staff in my bank will be losing their jobs once it is all sorted out.

RE: be careful... !1!

Too late for some I'm afraid dunno

RE: Make a Positive Word Beginning With Last Letter of Last Word -- V

Generous

RE: Who's interesting ?

I must be one in ten then because I always reply, even when I think it is a scammer (sad I know, but I like to be polite).

I tend to mirror the message I receive - if they can only be bothered to write one short sentence then that's what they get back.

RE: Is it me? or is it this site?.

According to my boss..................MORE! Naturally I don't agree but it made me laugh laugh

RE: Why are women so excited when husband came home drunk at 5 o'clock in the morning

I can assure you that if my ex husband had rolled in drunk at 5.00am I would've been anything but excited.................irritated, annoyed, absolutely pissed off but never excited.laugh

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Supposedly 18C here in Larnaca but doesn't feel that warm to me, nice and sunny though.cool

RE: what percentge of women, make the first move

I must admit I have never made the first move on here, even though I've seen profiles I was interested in. I guess I assume they wouldn't be interested since they haven't contacted me. Note to self - must have more confidence this year or I'll never meet anyone! professor

7 years ago today................

Sadly Cyprus, like Spain, is going through an economic crisis and we are in for a tough year this year but still prefer to live here than anywhere else. My Cypriot neighbour always presents me with lovely home made pastries and I came home yesterday to find a bag full of lemons left on my patio table, have no idea who left them but it's typical of the hospitality in my neighbourhood.

On a more serious note, my baby grandson was not well before New Year and we ended up taking him to the hospital on New Years Day. Within an hour he had been x-rayed and the paediatrician had been called in and he was admitted with bronchitis. He was discharged this afternoon thankfully but I have a feeling in the UK he would've been sent home with some medicine and not admitted. The hospital may look a bit shabby but the care and attention my grandson got was second to none.

It is a big step to move to a foreign country, specially if you have no support structure to help you acclimatise but at the end of the day if you don't like it you can always go back. In my own case I didn't want to get to 65 and think 'If only I'd taken the plunge when I was young enough to enjoy it.....'

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Cold and wet here, about 18C. Feels like it's time to get the whisky out to warm me up! drinking

RE: Have you ever met up with someone on CS in person? If so, what was the outcome?

Have met 5 men from here, did not get any sense of chemistry from 4 of them so was no point in meeting up again. I find it's best just to meet up for a coffee, it's easier to chat and get an idea of their personalities. Did meet one chap from the Uk and I liked him but unfortunately he didn't feel the samecrying Oh well, obviously not meant to be.

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Hey........what's going on.......17C here today, was 23C yesterday. Cold, grey, gloomy, guess winter's kicked in then.confused

RE: Do Americans know ?

Rusty Knight! We actually met him at one of our get-togethers. He had travelled from Malta to Cyprus especially, hope he wasn't too disappointed. Very entertaining but mad as a box of frogs, hope he's still takig his meds, at least he used to liven up the forums!

RE: 'FREE'. Christmas Holiday in Highlands !!

I don't know how remote your home is but why not spend the Christmas period helping others less fortunate? Are there any volunteer groups in your area who perhaps supply Christmas dinners or even just their time to those in need? You won't find someone if you're cloistered away at home, you've got to get out there! wave

RE: do you like where you live

Moved here 7 years ago and love living here, nice people, great climate, family nearby, what's not to like. cheering

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Warm - forecast 27C later. Sorry.comfort

RE: Oct 30- CYPRUS CS MEET-UP, LARNACA

No need to be confused, this thread is 2 years old. Our monthly meet-ups were abandoned because people could not be bothered to make the effort to support them.

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Apparently it's 31C here at the moment.dancing

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Woohoo...........thunder, lightning, torrential rain applause First storm today and the flamingoes have already arrived on the Salt Lake. Air feels fresher already and all the dust has been washed off the trees.

RE: disastrous meet

Actually I'm surprised you hadn't already arranged hotel accommodation when you organised your flights. There's no way I would stay with someone I'd only met online.

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Had our first rain for months yesterday but it only lasted about 10 minutes. Promised thunderstorms today but no sign yet. Currently 31C and 70% humidity, need a good downpour!

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Hotgrin 30C in Larnaca

RE: Mickey's Weather Thread

Getting cooler - 28C today with low humidity so very pleasant.

RE: Pick a card any card

Yassou! I am ashamed to admit that I still cannot speak Greek after 3 attempts. I know some but not nearly as much as my grandchildren, who are more or less fluent after 18 months going to the local Greek school.

There are quite a lot of ex-pats over here, not so many in my village but one village a few miles away is actually nicknamed Little Britain because there are so many living there.
