RE: Olive Oil

I've always wondered what they mean by EXTRA virgin olive oil, how can anything be extra virgin?

RE: What's the difference?

Would you prefer to be called a Mink? Or perhaps Ermine, maybe Otter or Pine Marten and finally a Badger as they all belong to the mustelid family.
I never knew Weasels, Badgers, Otters, polecats and Pine Marens were from the same family, learnt something new from this thread, many thankscheers

RE: What is truth?

Possibly, but truth is still unique to every individual whereas fact is something all can see.

The Sun in Hong Kong is very hot today is a truth that I feel
The sun has shone for many thousands of years is an indisputable fact, nothing to do with truth. The truth would be the sun has shone every day for thousands of years.

RE: So many people are now buying on line big box stores are closing

The high streets in UK cities are pedestrianised due to the opening up of out of town shopping malls, with cheap rents and supersized stores, together with the impact of Amazon and ebay, the result is UK high streets are no longer the "Go to" places they used to be, shops have gone, replaced with trendy cafe's and bars, in Worcester, my families home town, the huge Lloyds bank is now a massive coffee shop and bar.
We have destroyed the idea of a town centre with greed. In my opinion, this greed will end the community sprite that the UK was once famous for.
Thankfully Asia still has real shopping areas but even these are getting destroyed as shopping malls increase.
I miss walking down a nice shopping street in a town centre, must be my agedunno

RE: What is truth?

Truth is unique to every individual, depending on observation, perspective and experience.
For example, when I see something coloured red for me that is true, it is definitely red, but someone who is colour blind would experience seeing a different colour and that would be true to him.

RE: Thoughts about thinking

OMG, jaw drop a woman who actually thinks for herself conversing The very thought that this could be true sends shivers down my spine, it has to be a joke, God gave women a sense of humour and men the brains, it goes against nature to swop that role.

RE: I feel like a great comedian…who mostly gets the wrong audience

Have to agree with your comment, the blogs have just become an extension of the forums but for those who want to delete posts.
A forum is where you discuss and debate, a blog is where you write about a particular subject on life experience and people comment on that they don't debate or argue as happens in CS blogs.
Sad really.
Best wishes for the New Yearcheers

RE: I feel like a great comedian…who mostly gets the wrong audience

You would get better responses if you stopped accusing those with an opposing opinion of being "damaged".
You always fail to acknowledge that people have the right to disagree with your ideology.
And maybe it would help if you did some actual research on your topics from valid sourcesdunno

RE: Christmas is now here…but?

This deserves to be repeated.

If lee really wants to find a decent woman, the very first thing he has to do is lose the baggage and chip on his shoulder, and then realise NO ONE is perfect, it is the imperfections that a person has that creates true love.

RE: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT AMERICAN WOMEN WHO DROVE ON WRONG SIDE OF ROAD AND KILLED A YOUNG MOTOCYCLE

Latest news on this tragedy

A US woman will be charged with causing the death of teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn by dangerous driving.

Mr Dunn, 19, died in a road crash in Northamptonshire in August that led to suspect Anne Sacoolas leaving for the US under diplomatic immunity.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had started extradition proceedings through the Home Office.

US officials said it was not "a helpful development" and Mrs Sacoolas' lawyer said she would not return to the UK.

Lawyer Amy Jefress said: "Anne will not return voluntarily to the UK to face a potential jail sentence for what was a terrible but unintentional accident."

Mr Dunn's mother Charlotte Charles said the family was "relieved" Mrs Sacoolas had "finally" been charged."
So the American woman thinks that she is not to blame for the "accident" and has refused to attend a British court.
Be interesting to see in the USA does the right thing and uphold the extradition order. dunno

RE: If Obama is found complicit and subsequently impeached will all his Executive orders be null & void?

Impeachment is a constitutionally mandated process and has no effect on the results of an election or Presidential past or present decisions.

RE: Melania's Classy Christmas Decorations In The White House

Some people obviously have little idea what the meaning of "class" actually is.
The picture shown is not class, it is a brazen display of "look how much money I have", the direct opposite of class.laugh

RE: 'Being man enough'

That's okay, I quite like the thought of being cared for by an Asian nursebeer

RE: 'Being man enough'

Actually, between you and the bedpost and you must promise not to tell anyone, I have shown them some of Lee's posts as an example of what is wrong with society. Both in Asia and the west laugh
I have used many posts from CS in my classes, mainly as a topic for discussion, but often to explain the failure of democracy when misused. And how communism has both good and bad sides. That politics must be separated from the general public, most of whom are nice and friendly people, whatever the country.

RE: 'Being man enough'

I used this video for one of my English classes, to get a discussion going about masculinity, it was very interesting hearing Chinese students views, the girls all agreed with the main premis of the video, the boys just didn't understand it, they have been so pre-conditioned into their male role they have no means to understand there is an alternative.

RE: Massive Hong Kong Protest Against China

As usual, you don't respond with the requested links, but try to belittle the actual poster,
So once and for all, I'm British, I'm a paid-up member of the BRITISH Conservative Party, and if I was paid to post I would be as prolific as you, but as I'm not paid, I just post sporadically.
And again, post links showing your proof that live ammunition was used by Chinese soldiers in Hong Kong

RE: BOOMERANG!!!

Where in the article?
The Epoch Times is a financial backer to Trump's advertising campaign, so not biased then rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Massive Hong Kong Protest Against China

Are you suggesting that China has used live ammunition in Hong Kong?
If so can you provide verifiable facts? Because I’m in HK and have seen and heard no such claim.

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WHATS GOING ON IN HONG KONG??

I cannot envisage China sending tanks and troops into HK, in Hong Kong there is a feeling that a lot of financial backing is coming from China mainland, if the CCP can financially bankrupt HHK, it plays straight into their hands, Xi can say, "look our single party not only works, but is making China strong and growing economically. But look at how the democratic system has totally failed in Hong Kong".
So why would China try to intervene and stop something that actually makes the CCP look good?
The demonstrators in HK need to end the violence and stop the protests as they are very near to destroying Hong Kong and the freedom enjoyed here. They are getting less and less support from the majority of Hongkongers who initially were fully supportive of the action

RE: How many CS members still live at home?

Strange question, many people live with their parents for the care and attention they can give their parents, especially if one or both are infirm or disabled in some capacity.
Trying to belittle those who live with their parents just for attention seeking is typical of some members herebarf

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WHATS GOING ON IN HONG KONG??

Why should the UK get involved? The UK has no influence or control within Hong Kong, it would be like China intervening between England and Scotland's independence.
Just because the UK had control previously does not mean that has any bearing on events happening today.
As for China sending in troops, I doubt very much they would do that unless the riots became so large as to put the majority of Hongkongers under threat.
The USA would use any actual interference by mainland China as an excuse to increase the trade war and make more money from the sad situation

The way things are going is playing directly into China's hands, their single party is seen as successful and the two-party with national vote seen as an abject failure.

Ask yourself this question, if things are as bad as the media makes out, why can people cross the border in both directions between HK and China? Sure if things are so bad the first thing to do would be to shut the border, very easy thing to do, yet the movement between the two areas is only slightly down in numbers compared with this time last year.

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WHATS GOING ON IN HONG KONG??

So what has China exactly broken within the agreement made with the UK?
Oh wait a moment, they haven't broken anything and the majority of people living in HK are happy with being a part of China, even ex-pats think being under China is better than under the British rule, which was never a democratic governance.

As usual, people talk a lot and say nothing as they really have no idea of the real facts surrounding Hong Kong.
