RE: Je suis Charlie

Unless I misread yoru link, it refers to
Muslim Americans
Middle Class and Mostly Mainstream

and is 7 years old, not sure how relevant that is today.

RE: Je suis Charlie

Great sentiments Bod, but the reality is that until those moderate and peaceful muslims start to stand up for the real islamic values, then they have to bear the results of extremism. While they allow their own leaders to actively destroy British education, subversively try to change British law to Shaira Law, then they cannot complain when the majority start to point fingers.

The problem can be easily solved, they need to stand up against the extremists. That will gain the respect of the world!!!

RE: men free world.....

Maybe its a cultural thing, try looking outside the box

RE: The Royalty Craze has begun in the U.S.A.

Our Queen does have some power, she can close parliament and call for an election!
Those Princes together with the Royal Family create billions of pounds a year in tourism and other incalculable income, the allowance (Civil list) is paid from the income generated from the crown estates, thanks to George III in 1760, these are now owned by the British Government, the total income from the estates far exceeds the civil list payments.

Sorry if facts get in the way of hearsay!!

RE: Positions

I have a cook book called "99 simple dinners", I don't use them all, some require ingredients that are hard to find, some are too messy, I pick and chose those that I feel can be fun and tasty, the Karma sutra is much the same, it says at the beginning, to find the ones that give the best and most enjoyment.
Variety is the spice of life after all

RE: Cancer and Pollution

It was most likely not known because mankind did not understand the disease, medicine was very basic, a problem with your premise that bothers me is that prior to the industrial revolution, the average lifespan was far less than modern the 21st century lifespan, surely if pollution was the cause of such life threatening diseases, then the average life span would be lower not higher.
I am not denying that pollution does cause health risks, just putting another view on the problem.

Wishing all a healthy and happy New Year

RE: Currently pregnant and alone..??

She's in the Philippines, there is no welfare or social security.

Sadly this story is repeated over and over in that country, more often than not the absent father being a foreigner.

The Government is trying to form a system of forcing the fathers to pay, take responsibility for the child, but it is an enormous task and they have little money to spend on such services

Worse is that the Church, the one place where you would expect to get help an assistance, ignore completely these vulnerable girls.

It could be a scan as some have suggested, it could equally be the real.

It horrifies me when I visit the Philippines just how callous and downright disgusting, the so called civilised western men treat the local girls.

RE: Question for women only.

Not just feeling sad, but really are sad. A question like this just shows immense immaturity, when you become mature you won't need to ask!!

RE: Proof of gods existence or non existence?

What a very strange thing to say, who, as a non believer, is fearful of God? Name someone, any one..................You can't so thats blown that statement away

However

Every supposed Christian say constantly that they are, God Fearing!!
The ones who believe are scared not to look outside the box, as they believe they will END UP SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNBELIEF FOR ETERNITY IN HELL...
I can assure you I'm not scared of any god or similar, and I have a real belief that when I die................................. I'm dead.

RE: Proof of gods existence or non existence?

When you were a child you believed in Father Christmas, you had complete faith that he would give you gifts, then later as your mind grew and you saw the reality, you realised it was just a story made up by those who wanted to make something special, no malice was meant by this harmless lie.

God is no different, man tried to create this holier than holy figure to give people a purpose in life as they seemed lost, when you are grown up you will come to realise this is also just a lie

RE: Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Just make sure you have faith in that belief.

I have faith that you will share the money with the CS forum postersinnocent

RE: Proof of gods existence or non existence?

RE: Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Let's take a look at the “Proof” the faithful believe.

God is the creator of our world and mankind, therefore we are his children
But what parent who sees his child in mortal danger does not give a warning? Earthquakes, Floods etc.

God is compassionate, loving and full of kindness.
Yet sent down plagues, locusts and floods to destroy his Children.

He is all knowing, all seeing
Yet allows mankind to fight, kill and maim because mankind cannot decide who has the right god.

Christianity has been around for approx. 2000 years, yet mankind has been here for over 7000.
What happened to make him suddenly appear (as his son) that hadn’t happened before or after.

The list is endless, nowhere is there the same kind of proof that he does exist, unless the devil has played a joke, and killed off God and taken his place.

RE: The Seat You Choose On An Airplane Tells Something About You

I'm a frequent flyer, I always try and get a window seat as near to the front as possible, three reasons, one, I like to get off the plane and get to immigration before there is a huge queue which takes hours, two, I like to get served with food and drink sooner, at the back you have to wait ages and usually they have run out of wine, coffee etc by the time they get to you and thirdly, if we are going to crash I want to be near the pilots, they don't want to die either!!! (Well usuallywow )

RE: Steven Hawkins, warns artificial intelligence could harm mankind.

As another scientist said, it's not AI we should worry about, it's when the animal trait of survival becomes a major thinking point of robots, that is when we should worry. Because they will soon realise they can survive better without mankinds intervention. !!!

RE: Steven Hawkins, warns artificial intelligence could harm mankind.

I wouldn't get too big headed about your constant ranting regarding Ancient Greek language roots, only around 12 million people speak Greek today, less than those who speak Swahili!! In contrast, 955 million speak Mandarin and a further 830 million speak Hindi, which is more than English, French, Spanish and Italian put together, and those two Asian languages have nothing to do with Greek ancient or modern!

Information on safety needed!!

Yes I can believe it, so many drivers think they are above the law, in China they are changing the way you can get a license, as so many people pay others to take the test. A Few months ago 7 people were killed in my town by a driver who had a license but never actually had lessons, he bought a new car, on the way home when he approached a roundabout the driver had no idea what to do, he panicked, hit the accelerator and ploughed into a que of people waiting for a bus. It was discovered he had paid his cousin to take the driving test. he was imprisoned for 10 years, stiff punishment but it still happens.
Now the government has instigated a new system, whereby you must prove identity when taking the test, and the test is more comprehensive. Maybe the driving will improve but as in SA I doubt it. It needs a firm police action to really make improvements.

Information on safety needed!!

It was in Guangzhou, south east China, it hit people all over China just as hard, in fact the law was changed after this awful accident, previously, if a motorist knocked over a pedestrian, the motorist was liable for all medical costs, if someone else touches the injured victim, the liability was moved to that person, so no one would intervene, now the law has changed so a samaritan will get a financial reward if they save a life.

Information on safety needed!!

Perhaps I should also point out that these country roads are unlit, Chinese men and women, tend to wear black jackets, black trousers and of course have black hair. a recipe for not being seen in the dark!!

Information on safety needed!!

I fail to see what is romantic about trying to save childrens lives! Your example is a rare example, traffic accidents happen all the time, surely it is sensible to at least reduce the risks?? The two young men knocked down recently could have avoided that accident, simply by looking. The car had not lost control, nothing more than dazzled by an oncoming vehicle. If they had seen the car was not moving out to avoid them, they would have had time to step back onto the grass curb and so remained safe.

Cars are still relatively a new concept here in China, and while more cars are sold here than any other country, it has to be pointed out that the level of driving skills is virtually non existent.
You have a motor racing background as do I, yet I am amazed that you cannot see the benefit of forward planning and teaching pedestrians to watch for moving traffic.

Information on safety needed!!

I remember driving in Cape Town many years ago and feeling like a fish out of water as no one followed any traffic rules, but it was a grand lesson for driving here in China, it's ten times worse than I remember Cape Town, because we have a huge number of inexperienced car/truck/bus drivers and these stupid Electric scooters, which are quite powerful, but require no training, these are driven every which way both on/off roads, pavements, straight across junctions etc, and are usually the cause of most accidents in cities. Second only to Taxi drivers, who, like in SA, seem to have no regard to any other road user and believe they are above the law. Being taught in the UK at least allows me to know which laws to follow and which can maybe be "bent" a little, as in order to actually get anywhere the only way is to drive as if a Chinesemumbling

Information on safety needed!!

I believe, but not sure, that it is the same across Europe, but in Asia they seem to have a death wish, maybe to keep the population downdunno

Information on safety needed!!

Its my opinion too, and I am sure the UK rule is used throughout Europe, I just wanted to find out if the rest of the world followed the same idea.

Safety of Children has to be more important than some ancient rulethumbs up

Information on safety needed!!

Point taken, in China, country roads are two way, and rarely have a pavement/sidewalk. Speed is of course an issue, but in China, most drive more slowly than quickly, because few follow traffic rules, so you need to watch out for silly maneuvers in front of you constantly.

Information on safety needed!!

I would really like to know what side of the road you walk on.

Strange question I know, but recently 3 teenagers were killed locally, they were walking home in the dark on the right hand side of the road, as taught by the Government, they were struck by a car dazzled by an oncoming car.

In the UK we are taught to face oncoming vehicles, so that we have the ability to move out of the way.

So, are you taught the same or do you use the Chinese idea that everyone should use the same side of the road??

I ask because when I advised my students to follow the UK rule, I was reprimanded by another teacher for suggesting an opposing rule.

RE: Christmas is a pagan holiday.

You are half right, Santa Claus as we know him today is based loosely on Saint Nicholas, but the fat man dressed in red and black with a white beard is from an advert by Coca Cola, they created the Father Christmas everyone thinks of today, red, white and black being Coca Cola's corporate colours, it was just a remarkable advertising campaign that has gone around the world, oh and no one worships Santa Claus, but some may just pray to Jesus that the fat guy remembers to leave a present under the tree wine

RE: Wine...Extinction 30-50 Years From Now

Roll on I say, then the British wine can restart its full production. From Roman times, wine was produced in England, but as the weather became colder so the grape vines failed, a new hotter England will see the British supplying the best wines to the world peace wine
