Hope you enjoy...got a beach ten minutes away...but such a hassle to go and so many tourists this time of year there I rarely do....except maybe in winter when there are no people...
...but then again...got three pools here....since I run holiday rental places....so been playing around with water all morning....between the cleaning out the pools and watering the gardens that is....
...the joys of the internet....opposite sides of the planet and yet doing the same thing....me just finished my day's load....been at it since 7 this morning....it's now 2 in the afternoon...hot as hell outside....so chilling inside...and checking things on line....
There is only one constant that we can all be sure of.....CHANGE.
That is the modern guiding force in Science. Yes, there were times that accepted norm of scientific knowledge were confined by the political will of the time.
The Catholic Church actually condemned Galileo when he first professed the world to be round.
But those barriers have been falling exponentially as time progressed. Humanity has never known so many new frontiers of discovery as in these last couple of decades. And in fact I truly believe that we are also on the threshold of a new dawn for humanity. The next step into a still unclear future that will take humanity into a new era.
The term God is a creation of man. A need to explain something beyond his immediate understanding.
Even before any organized religion came into being, man needed that something. The Native Americans called it Mother Earth, The Great Spirit. Other civilizations chose the Sun as the supreme entity. Etc etc etc.
As to the all seeing, all knowing conscious supreme being...that was introduced in quite recent human history, and in most cased, abused and warped to retain control over the populations.
I would question that experience and try to find a logical answer to it.
The way Science does, by studying and looking from every possible angle.
But beyond that particular point you have made, today we ares starting to understand so much of this Universe of which we are part, that we have also now started to understand where we come from, what we are made of, and how we evolved. Such that we now know that we are part of a much more complicated mechanism that surrounds us and dictates our being what we are.
Probably it is only Atheists like myself who understand that religion is a choice....
I myself was born into a Catholic upbringing, and it was a matter of choice that I grew up to question the faith I was 'forced' to uphpold as a child. With adulthood, I made my choice, and follow my beliefs accordingly.
So irrespective of all that is professed in the Catholic Faith, or any of the others that I looked at and dissected in my own privacy, I still made my choices, and abide by them. Still do.
From my part, and this is purely personal, I only believe in what can be scientifically proven. And even that is continuously changing, for as our knowledge expands, previous concepts and theories change and evolve.
Such is life itself. The only reality that is fact is CHANGE.
Disagree Boban.....in religious terms it is.....one may profess to be whatever it may need him to say he is.....but ultimately whether he follows or believes in that faith is entirely and solely up to him....
Of course....as any other post coming from whichever side of religious belief will be too......for that is exactly what religion is....a personal choice....
There is no such thing as one being better then the rest. And I believe the word 'versus' is totally out of order in your heading.
Religion....in the myriad forms that it exists in not just the two you mentioned....is a matter of choice for the individual to live his creed.
Whether Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc etc etc.....it is up to the individual to decide which best he/she wishes to uphold. None are better or worst then the others, for each provide rules of social order.
And for the record, I follow neither, being an Atheist.
As if anybody who is elected president has any say in that.....it's already been decided one way or the other by the Military Industrial Complex that rules the US anyway....and the bankers behind them of course...
Good...and I hope that along the way this removal of mad leaders moves on into our lands too and helps us get rid of these bunch of corrupt hypocrites we call politicians on both sides of the Atlantic too....
Something like that has to be taken within the overall historical context of that moment in time.....not gonna bother going into all the nitty details of the situation here....
...I don't know how well versed you are in our country's recent history...but all I can say is....I lived it....so my perspective may differ from your view of it....
This is probably where the divergence of our individual opinions starts....
...if the nuclear potential of Iran is as real as Saddam's WMD's.....then it would boil down to pure paranoia and ulterior motives scenario that we discussed on the last thread we met....

For the show?
