Interesting post. It reminded me of something a nursing school instructor told our class: "Rarely does an individual cognitively mature past the age he or she begins using hallucinogenic drugs."
You are certainly not alone. Although it has been awhile, I started noticing that some of my, and other CS members', comments, threads, etc...would somehow mysteriously just vanish. No explanation. Now, this is puzzling because often when a mod deems something inappropriate (or whatever..) we would simply see a "====THIS THREAD IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT ACCEPT FURTHER COMMENT====, or, ==THIS RESPONSE HAS BEEN DELETED==. My opinion of the matter is , well, Okay, but could they (mod) at least say SOMETHING, rather than just completely erase with no explanation?? just a thought.....
While I readily admit that I don't understand much of "believing"; only that Faith is by nature incomprehensible and therefore difficult for many to embrace, I DO embrace it myself in spite of reservation and doubt....One thing I know for sure, and it can be found in this adage"
"If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything"
It isn't usual for me to make politically based comments, however, I want to point out something and this is as good a place (forum) as any:
One cannot work in social services (AFS, Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centers, Nursing Homes, Group Homes, Vocational Support Shops, etc...) even as a janitor/housekeeper/kitchen help, unless he or she is able to pass a police background check. This includes substantiated criminal activity that rises above misdemeanor levels. So, by what token could someone with so many multiple criminal offenses --that surely surpass misdemeanor, be allowed to vie for the highest social service (President) with such a checkered background audit????? Is ANYONE minding the store in America???-- ????? At some point, the very policies that control classified staff from working in these environments should also apply to political office!!
"....there is always someone, for each of us, they say and you will be my someone, forever and a day-- I could search the world over, until my life is through-- but I know I'll never find another you......"
{lovely, lilting melody to this song...sorry, this was the only part I could readily remember....}
Rocky Road Ice Cream is SOOOOOO darn good! Have you ever tried "Moose Tracks" Ice Cream?? Freddies (Fred Meyer/Kroger/Fry's) carries it. I'll do a quick search and see if it's available near you...hold on. (It'll be worth the wait..)
I'm a bit torn, but I think warm pecan pie with very cold French Vanilla Ice Cream--two helpings, please......I also like a French pastry/cake called "Trifle"--a little like that Italian layered creamy cake (gee, I forgot, it's Tirasmu or something..)
Morning--good enough argument for meeting folks the old fashioned way--church, club, square dance, pub/restaurant.....Although I have met a couple of people from online over the years, I fairly old school in wanting to meet in person. Perhaps a victim of my own antiquity...but have yet to be screwed up by this AI thing-a-ma-jig. Thanks for putting this out there. We need to stop being dependent on technology and use it for a tool, not an "everything".
I choose Animal Welfare--whatever as long as the foundation is transparent and open about where and how the funds are spent. My reasoning is that all life shares the Earth, and people have to be the voice for animals, both wild and domestic, because they cannot do it themselves. Hint: the actual dollar amount that goes directly to the aid of the (whatever you choose) should be at LEAST 75% of the gross.
I also like St. Jude's (Marlo Thomas, Chair) because there is no cost to the child's family whatsoever. Now, THAT'S giving.......
