RE: World events.

Yep Sri Lanka had nothing to do with the right wing attack in NZ, also it took months of planing to put together the Sri Lankan attack, as it did with the attack in NZ. Probably more to do with christian Tamil attack (invasion) of Sri Lanka than NZ's hijab wearing & gunslingers support for Islam.
Its has been proven that Brendon Tarrant received support preparing his crazy stunt, likewise it took months of planing to launch the attacks America and the coalition of the willing made against Iraq, Afghanistan Libya and probably years of arms shipments into Syria and bribes paid to Pakistan by the yanks so they could pretend that they killed Bin Larden.
Vietnam war was created when they put together S.E.A.T.O in 1954, New Zealand had armed corps deployed in Vietnam guarding a NZ civilian medical team in 1962/63 (something they lie about these days) they had medical people aiding Christians shipped into South Vietnam from North Vietnam by the yanks who stole the land off Buddhist farmers in the south and nz army tried to protect them, that months of planing to.

Key points:

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena banned all kinds of face coverings that conceal people's identities
The emergency law prevents Muslim women from veiling their faces
The country's Catholic churches were closed after warnings more militants remained on the loose

Police said they had arrested 48 suspects over the past 24 hours as checkpoints mounted by all of Sri Lanka's security forces sprung up across the country of 21 million people.

Those arrested included two men authorities recently appealed to the public to locate.

RE: How long before feminism dies?

I think all sentient beings have a universally accepted right to enjoy happiness, whether gay's of either gender they have a right to choose whatever turns them on as long as not causing harm to others.

I also think there is a lot of difference between male and female rebirths, there day to day thinking processes differ quite a lot.
Women often practice an enhanced nurturing feeling based decision making process. They endure a lot more hardships, also hormonal fluctuations far exceed those of males. The hardship of bearing and day to day nurturing of children can very easily fall off the rails when self cherishing thoughts interfere in nurturing process. Thinking of self is the root cause of all our suffering whether male or female.
Men are endowed with the same qualities to nurture, they can and often do offer the same supportive caring qualities as females somewhat limited by psychical limitations. Myself four half years full time mother and I know i did my very best throughout that experience. Men often are of course are more macho, less time polishing fingernails, dying hair etc, men are more likely found to have greasy fingers, I think more upfront though it would be fair to say men harbor a less emotionally driven thinking process while there partner is fulfilling full time nurturing.
Feminist cult like thinking, is I think a very dark and evil stupid politically driven gender divide and rule grossly dishonest cult that has a professional following hellbent on undermining traditional family values. Like vultures picking the asserts and security of couples of various genders clean of all there worldly processions.

The day the Sgt Major tries to reshape the thinking process of the most adversely impacted victims, approaches like a freight train...I warn thee

Another individual arrested with Makandure Madush deported

So far, 28 individuals arrested with Makandure Madush have been deported to Sri Lanka.

Indian intelligence officers contacted their Sri Lankan counterparts two hours before the first attack to warn of a specific threat on churches, one Sri Lankan defense source and an Indian government source said.

Another Sri Lankan defense source said a warning came "hours before" the first strike.

rift between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena is undermining national security.

The president fired Wickremesinghe last October over political differences, only to reinstate him weeks later under pressure from the Supreme Court.

Opposing factions aligned to Wickremesinghe and Sirisenahave often refuse to communicate with each other and blame any setbacks on their opponents, government sources say.

RE: Love, Kindness, Forgiveness for All.

oh I couldn't agree with that
example
Noun: karma
1. (Hinduism and Buddhism) the effects of a person's actions that determine their fate in this life and the next incarnation

Adjective: karma
1. Relating to karma
"Karma is the overall psychological impulse behind an action, that which sets going a chain of causes culminating in a karmic fruit"

From Wikipedia
Karma (/'k??rm?/; Sanskrit: ????, translit. karma, IPA: (listen); Pali: kamma) means action, work or deed; it also refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect). Good intent and good deeds contribute to good karma and happier rebirths, while bad intent and bad deeds contribute to bad karma and bad rebirths.

The philosophy of karma is closely associated with the idea of rebirth in many schools of Indian religions (particularly Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism) as well as Taoism. In these schools, karma in the present affects one's future in the current life, as well as the nature and quality of future lives - one's sa?sara.

A teaching on karma given by Lama Yeshe at Chenrezig Institute, Queensland, Australia, on 28 June 1976.

in Part Includes
The actions of your body, speech and mind are the same. Each action, positive or negative, good or bad, produces an appropriate result.

Also, karma doesn’t depend on your believing in it or not. The mere fact of your existence proves the existence of karma. Irrespective of whether you want to know about karma or not, whether you believe in it or not, it doesn’t matter: you are karma. Whether you accept karma or reject it, you can’t separate yourself from karma any more than you can separate yourself from energy. You are energy; you are karma.

However Lama also expressed a simpler view to, however the point I was trying to make was the certainty of the causes; not some perception of Buddhist hells

RE: Love, Kindness, Forgiveness for All.

my response was directed to ChesneyChrist:

RE: Love, Kindness, Forgiveness for All.

that sounds over complicated to my mind
try interpreting the english word karma as describing our nature as moving energy that carries the seeds of our tomorrows, just like the bible says as you sow so shall you reap and they will, whether we understand or not.
Put another way, our activities the seeds created by good deed, bad or indifference as the right conditions arise, the seed will certainly ripen.

RE: Love, Kindness, Forgiveness for All.

One things certain always changing. The Persians after Afghanistan wandered into India and spent three months chopping off all the Buddhist Monk's and Nuns heads, burnt all the scriptures destroyed all the Buddhist Temples. Likewise Indonesia was once upon a time great seat of Buddhism. Indeed Indian Buddhist Master Atisha (982-1054 AD) was responsible for reintroducing pure Buddhism into Tibet.
Atisha completed his studies in whats known today as Sumatra, Lord Atisha returned from there to India before traveling to Tibet where he taught the Mahayana to Tibetans. Lord Thong Karpa realized Atisha's teachings, an unbroken linage to this day.
Regardless the idiot Chinese invasion and utter rubbish wheels still turn.
The Karmapa Lama lineage, head of the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism dates back to time of the Buddha. The 17th Karmapa incarnation is standing in for 14th HH Dalai Lama when he enters the Bardo.

I wouldn't agree the Dharma promises good things later, there many many benefits that arise from engaging in Buddhist practice, like for example meditation, raining in the mad elephant like mind we all suffer ('ed) from, much benefit to not only ones self to all others we caused harm...
Its about listening up and implementing skillful means...etc etc

Death toll reaches 310

The death toll from Sri Lanka's Easter Sunday bombings has now reached 310 with several people succumbing to their injuries, according to a police spokesperson.

Around 500 people were wounded in the blasts, Ruwan Gunasekera said in a statement.

He added that 40 people were now under arrest in connection with the attacks.

RE: Love, Kindness, Forgiveness for All.

Buddhism is a philosophy, a belief, a school of thought explaining the three universal truths, the four noble truths; and. the noble eightfold path.
Buddhism is the teachings of Gautama Buddha.

Shakyamuni Buddha taught four noble truths: The truths of suffering and the cause of suffering, and the truths of cessation of suffering and the path to the cessation of suffering.

Lama Thubten Yeshe explained
The mental pollution of misconceptions is far more dangerous than drugs. Wrong ideas and faulty practice get deeply rooted in your mind, build up during your life, and accompany your mind into the next one. That is much more dangerous than some physical substance.

Bodhisattva Shantideva wrote, “We all seek happiness, but turn our backs on it. We all wish to avoid misery, but race to collect its causes.” What we want and what we’re doing are in contradiction. Our activities aimed at bringing happiness just cause suffering, misery and trouble. Shantideva goes on to explain how even if we desire to obtain happiness, because of ignorance we usually destroy its cause. We treat the causes of happiness like we would an enemy.

Buddhism is a philosophy not ice cream

BBC
Late on Sunday, the air force said an improvised explosive device had been found and disposed of close to the country's main airport in the capital, Colombo.

"A PVC pipe which was six feet in length containing explosives in it was discovered," spokesman Gihan Seneviratne told local media.

The vast majority of those killed are thought to be Sri Lankan nationals, including scores of Christians who died at Easter church services.

The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it believes 36 foreign nationals are among the dead, with most still unidentified at a Colombo morgue.

The international victims include:

At least five British citizens - including two with joint US citizenship
Three Danish citizens
One Portuguese citizen and three Indian nationals, according to Sri Lankan officials
Two engineers from Turkey, according to Turkish news outlet Anadolu
One person from the Netherlands

One of the suicide bombers checked into the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo under the name Mohamed Azzam Mohamed, Indian media wrote. He reportedly set off an explosive at the hotel’s busy restaurant while standing in line for the Easter Sunday breakfast buffet.

Two more suicide bombers, who were behind the attacks on the Shangri La hotel and a church in Batticaloa, have also been reportedly identified as Zahran Hashim and Abu Mohammed, according to a report by an Indian News 18 TV Channel. No other details about the alleged perpetrators have been revealed so far.

Police say 13 suspects arrested

Ruwan Gunasekara, police spokesman, said 13 suspects have been arrested in connection with the bombings in Sri Lanka

In a statement, Gunasekara said police have obtained a vehicle they suspect was used to transport the suspects into Colombo. Police also found a safe house used by the attackers, it added.

The coordinated assaults, which killed at least 207 people and wounded more than 450 others, was the worst violence in the Indian Ocean island nation since its civil war ended a decade ago.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

l Jazeera's Minelle Fernandez, reporting from Colombo, described the prime minister's statement "as a dig" at President Maithripala Sirisena, who heads the security forces.

Ties between the two leaders are at an all-time low following Sirisena's sacking of Wickremesinghe in October. The move triggered a weeks-long political crisis that ended only when the Supreme Court overturned that decision.

Three police officers were killed while conducting a search at a suspected safe house in Dematagoda, on the outskirts of Colombo, when its occupants apparently detonated explosives to prevent arrest, according to the defence minister.

ATTACK WARNINGS

It has emerged Sri Lanka's police chief warned of suicide bombers planning to hit "prominent churches" 10 days before today's attack.

Pujuth Jayasundara reportedly said: "A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama'ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo".

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that was linked last year to the destruction of Buddhist statues.

There has been no immediate claims of responsibility for the attacks in a country which was at war for decades with Tamil separatists until 2009, during which bomb blasts in the capital were common.

Last year, there were 86 verified incidents of discrimination, threats and violence against Christians, according to the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL).

And there have been recent reports of clashes between Sinhalese Buddhist and Muslim communities, with some hardline Buddhist groups accusing Muslims of forcing people to convert to Islam.

The recent decision of former general Muchdi Purwoprandjono – who is also a former commander of the Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus) – to declare his support for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has added to the long list of former military generals taking part in the incumbent’s coalition.

Three former Indonesian Military (TNI) chiefs – Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Minister Wiranto and former vice president Try Sutrisno – as well as Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, who was Kopassus’ antiterrorist unit chief, and former Navy chief of staff Marsetio are among the retired generals who have become Jokowi loyalists.

On Feb. 10, Jokowi and his running mate, Muslim cleric Ma’ruf Amin, officially received support from around 1,000 retired military officers, many of whom are generals. The support came just days after the President agreed to provide more civilian posts to active military personnel at government institutions.

The camp of challenger Prabowo Subianto, who is also a former military elite, has claimed that it has more former generals supporting the Gerindra Party chairman. Prominent retired generals backing him include former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former TNI chief Djoko Santoso, former Navy chief Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno. However, Yudhoyono, who currently leads the Democratic Party, has decided to leave the election campaign to care for his ailing wife.

Prabowo, a former commander of Kopassus, is also backed by several retired members of the elite unit, including Lt. Gen. (ret) Yunus Yosfiah, a former Kopassus captain during Indonesia’s 1975 invasion of then-East Timor, and Lt. Gen. (ret) Yayat Sudrajat, the former chief of the military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS).

While Jokowi’s campaign team has claimed that dozens of former generals have thrown their support behind the President’s reelection bid, Prabowo’s team claims it has gotten hundreds.

Gerindra deputy chairman and Prabowo’s stalwart Fadli Zon has proudly claimed that hundreds of retired military generals supported Prabowo.

And so as a matter of law, it certainly can be said that Prime Minister Clark formal request the NZ be accepted and share the benefits that other member states enjoy.

A Kiwi lad's death by drone

When the Jones boys converted to Islam, it caused quite a stir in Christchurch.

Suddenly Daryl and his younger brother Nathan, who grew up in a strong Christian house, were sporting beards, learning Arabic and wearing flowing robes. Carloads of Muslims, including immigrant women in veils, would turn up at the family's home in a smart east Christchurch suburb, neighbours tut-tutting and muttering about terrorists.

Some who knew the family accepted the conversion, others struggled. When Daryl was in his early 20s and still flirting with Islam, he surprised the family of a Christian friend he was visiting when he suddenly declared he had to go to the far end of the house to pray towards Mecca. "We thought it was weird," said the friend's mother.

All of this upset the boys' parents - the father a former Australian police officer doing security for a government organisation, the mother employed by a Christchurch tertiary institution. The Sunday Star-Times has decided not to name the parents to protect their privacy. They declined interviews and have told friends not to speak to the media.

Daryl, 30 when he died, moved to Sydney around 2008 and converted to Islam soon after arriving. Nathan, still in Christchurch, converted soon after with the help of Saudi Arabian students he was friendly with.

"The parents desperately wanted both the boys to leave Islam. They had seen their sons change dramatically in appearance - it's scary for parents when that happens," a source said.

Mr and Mrs Jones turned to their New Life Church for help, and were put in touch with some people with knowledge of Islam to teach them more about it and hopefully convince Nathan to re-think his decision. He listened politely to the delegation, but rejected the advice.

In Sydney, Daryl began attending the Lakemba Mosque, known as a hotbed of radicalism, and drew the attention of counter-terrorism authorities because of the company he kept.

He changed his name to Muslim bin John, married a Somali woman and around 2009 headed to Saudi Arabia and then Yemen, ancestral home of Osama bin Laden and home base of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). He told his family he wanted to teach English and help people. But a source said Jones was thrown in prison in Yemen because he was not a registered teacher, leaving his wife and four children stranded. His parents arranged for the family to come to Christchurch, where they remain.

The family last heard from Daryl around May 2012, then lost all contact. The strain on his parents' marriage was immense, and they separated.

After the 2011 earthquakes Mrs Jones spent time in a motor home, staying at a caravan park near Christchurch. She gave the impression of a lost soul, said those who knew her. Residents of the park remember her saying her son was "missing" in the Middle East and she had asked church groups to help find him. She seemed very depressed and had had some sort of falling out with her daughter-in-law.

When news of Daryl's death finally filtered through after DNA was used to identify the remains, Mrs Jones fell apart.

"No-one really has any answers, it makes the grieving process very difficult," said a friend. "As a parent, who wouldn't be devastated that someone can flick a switch and your child is gone? It's absolutely devastating. This is a completely broken woman. To lose a child this way. Who makes these decisions to murder your child, and doesn't even let you know what happened?"

Born in Australia on September 14, 1983, Daryl Anthony Jones and his family moved to New Zealand, his mother's home country, when he was about six or seven. Those who knew Jones used the same words to describe him: quiet, shy, soft-spoken, gentle, polite.

"Nathan seemed a good kid too," said a source. "I think the two boys woul

RE: Euthanasia Debate in Spain

That isn't what I meant.
But yes they can during a telephone conversation with my own Mother (in NZ), told me that she had, had enough, and didn't want to go through another winter (93 years old) and 3 months later she died.
A Christian an unable to go to NZ I asked my sister to say that I thought should visualize JC surrounded in clear white light. But no I was not saying that I was saying (trying to say) that one of the most usual times in life is last moments before death. Death time breath goes out and doesn't come back and finally our energy departs our body, I'm told there are many subtle levels of consciousness.
For example if you are run over by a Mac truck your subtle-winds would instantly departure the body.
With natural dying process, the of departure of the subtle-winds normally depart body in two or three days, however of the subtle-winds departure can take up to 27 days.
That is in part Mahayana Buddhist teaching on death and dying. Which can be researched in FPMT website.

What I was trying to say in response to Molly's post being motivated because Molly has expressed some interest in Buddhism in the past that our true nature is moving energy (subtle Winds) and example i used HH Dalai Lama is recognized as the 14th incarnation of being known as Dalai Lama. He is 14th incarnation of the continuous mind stream of the person known as Dalai Lama.
That something that he has proven from his own side to the satisfaction of the Tibetans tasked with finding his reincarnation. You can research on trusted FPMT website.
In this Dalai Lamas incarnation is located near Amdo near the Chinese boarder and there is available, full account of the processed used and final acceptance of the child was indeed 14th Dalai Lama.

But you guys in this thread appear to have no interest in such matters. Personally i don't think we should involve ourselves in giving comfort to a person killing themselves, who have no understanding of our true nature , which is energy (Moving Energy) (Subtle Winds) (Spirit) who some how perceive the light will go out and enter some sought of paradise. That place is reserved for complete morons who kill infidel or something.
Its silly in the extreme, there is nothing on this planet that can become a nothing, that an impossibility.

Ignorance some say is bliss, I think not, complete waist of very hard to obtain human rebirth. Tibetan describe obtaining human rebirth can be likened to a turtle surfacing in the middle of biggest ocean rising to the surface with its head in 1 meter golden ring. There are clearly many many more sentient being like ourselves migrating from life to life driven by the causes (English word used to describe Karma's)

I have tried to explain, it is complicated because you requested i do, any error in this description is my error, I beg you please check up before involving yourself in the death and dying of others.

RE: Euthanasia Debate in Spain

JMO
Not very Buddhist, silly i think, as ones last thoughts also part of the seeds of ones tomorrows.
Visualizations at death time are very powerful, hint! HHDL is 14th incarnation of the continuous HHDL mindstream!!
Same applies for all beings whether Buddhist, Christian, Muslim or Jewish, no matter you want to take rebirth (which is certain) as a Christian then visualize JC surrounded in white light be a good idea.
I understand other have their own views

RE: Never thought we'd see an armed attack on a NZ Mosque

The consequence of killing is being killed, over and over for as long as you have the Karmas to be killed. Applies to all sentient beings suffering from the effects of the causes of killing.

Labelling karmic outcomes as victim is a form of ignorance, kind of gross stupidity.

Instead of just observing the karmas of others, including those affected by the causes suffering from the afflictions of like and dislike. In not holding solid what is not solid, cease suffering lost listen, stop kidding oneself, its then possible to find a better understanding of the nature of sentient rebirths.

People who associate themselves with flawed religious views, or misinterpret meaningful religious teachings, and or, engage in misinterpretations of interdependent arising’s of karmic outcomes in ignorance see victims. You cannot be a so-called victim without karmic causes.
Given all sentient beings are migrating from life to life it is likely quiet reasonable to suggest, all wars include space for those with karmas to be killed or suffer war injuries because there couldn’t be a war, no goodies and baddies no war…
If we don’t create the causes = nothingness, get really good go beyond, one would no longer experience suffering rebirths, the path benefit others.
