I do think we are plundering the Earth like never before. Palm oil, Gold, rainforests etc., this is having a dramatic effect on the climate of the poorer countries. I beieve we are so biologically washed [clothing/kitchen surfaces/hospitals ] that our natural immunity is going. Sugar is killing us with Cancer and Obesity and now it will soon be Govt. Policy not to keep eldery people [see EU papers this weekend] alive via tablets/medication if they have had a good life. ~ What I am saying is, the pharmacuetical companies have created a monster, people are living to be 90 and 100 and we can't afford it. Humans are eating Genitically modified food and drinking flouridated water, everything is full of Corn syrup/suctrose/sugar so we are being poisioned slowly whether we like it or not... living in a city is equeal to smoking 80cigs a day. I agree about population control though.
iI dont think i have a favourite, I do like our president, very small in stature and nicknamed the Leprachaun, but he is madly in love with Ireland and a great ambassador for the Country. A fluent Irish speaker and a great talker. As for you hotty irish Doctor, I would be embarrassed to go to a hottie Doctor, what up ? I have this lump on my leg, oh no!!! i will stick with my geeko.
Im just wondering why the Dating sites ask you to say how much you earn a year ? I feel its none of their business but have they used polls that indicate that men and women are interested in how much the other earns? I find it a turn-off when a man puts down what he earns. Or if his profile pic shows him lounging over the Sports Car , basically saying 'Ive money'... it insults me. There are very insecure men out there who need Designer suits and large cars to make up for what they feel they lack inside, there are women who do go for men with money, they are not in the Majority but I know a few. They never pay for a meal, let the man buy them clothes, Botox, pay their rent and fill up the engine of the Car. But thats not love its more of an arrangement. Me? I actually find alot of money Brash and distasteful, I am not in it for the Money. Friendship, love, respect, fun, good loving, mutual attraction, good health. The question insulted me .
I agree with you Merriweather, they are a strong, volatile and very proud race, they look on us all as infidels even though the trappings of their position would have alot of so called 'Western thrash' as in Designer clothing, kitsch Golden plated t hings... you know. I worry about Ireland and the fact that we have allowed Shannon to be used for refueling. however, we have been particularly kind to Eastern people here and in particular the many Muslims who have come to live here and Mosques are popping up regularly, huge, expensively built. I dont think its all talk.... America to me is just as dangerous albeit in a more inconspicious way.
Time is the Healer, really loving takes longer, but again like somebody has already said, remember and even write down the nasty things, the hurtful things... it helps. Glad you felt better. you are lucky to have friends that were there for you and willing to listen, mine beingmostly married just said 'I told you he was no good' which of course made me defensive and want to say 'he wasnt all bad' Time heals... Medical fact. Some people get depressed though and cannot get up from the abyss of darkness and apathy. there is talking therapy for this or antidepressants if its really bad. Best of luck
Thanks so much, I have been laughing so much. The banter, the soriety from the women and men and common sense. It's just when it hits you first, it hurts. No, Im made of Sterner stuff. I must be a Mother Teresa in disguise coz I has alot of chances to marry for money and stuck out for real love, Rebel has given us all something to look forward to.... a selection of pics of his apendage, [is that what its called?] or jewels. No doubt the pics will be photoshopped and airbrushed and lengthened. thanks all for the great laugh x
I agree with lonelygal but my x told me too much , i wish I didnt know half. I wouldnt give a 'blow by blow' I do think that hiding things is a huge block to intimacy though and having no lies/being economical with the truth is a huge Strain. For some !! As in, I am from Dublin, Ireland and its a very small place. :blushing too small, a big open aired Asylum and one big parochial Village, much as we like to think we are part of Europe....
Freedom of speech. We take it for granted in these parts, I love the Wit of alot of the women and the different personalities, especially unlaoised her one liners, she says in one or two words what would take me a page to express.... I guess its down to less is more, or simply I need more practice [on the Forums that is !!] I love when things get heated too and Egos are to the fore. I also like the posts with men wanting to Date me, A good Site.
Hello all, Ive had the mother of all Lung infections with phneumonia and am going round the twist at home. I like the forums and that's why i am basically on Connecting Singles. Anyway... I received a message from a FACELESS MAN [suprise, suprise ] He just wanted to say that If I was the age I said I was, then he was Elvis. To cop on and tell the truth etc., My photos arenot airbrushed, not did I go to any great length to put up gorgeous ones, glamorous ones as I wanted to be natural. I answered him back [lowered myself] by saying he hadnt even the guts to have a photo up, etc., but what he thought of my looks, age , was none of my business. I do suffer bouts of Depression though and if that had been say, 3 months ago, when I was grieving over a long term relationship, it would have hurt me deeply. I dont worry too much now what men think of my looks, but it could have hurt somebody deeply. Nasty piece of work. Thats it. Vitriol spilt
I would worry about men or women who have a definite preference for a hair colour, takes me back to Rod Stewart and poor George Best who dated only blondes. what message does that send out ? We all have fantasy men, George clooneys but you meet a man or woman and they are not anything like you would normally be attracted to, perhaps very overweight, underweight, but funny, genuine, the sparkle is there, manners, respect and the chemistry is there.
I AM a cynic, I do think younger men believe [rightly or wrongly] that we over 45s, 50s are absolute Cougars in the Bedroom and will give them T.L.C. as well by way of a good brekkie afterwards. No, sorry lovey firm bodies and all.... I need a man with a slow hand
Oh No !! I could wallpaper my bedroom with the amount of young men telling me 'age doesnt matter, it's just a number' maybe when you are 20s or early 30s and have years ahead of you age is just a number. At my age, I need to have an emotional bond, something to talk about, things in common and I am pretty young at heart. The cynic in me wonders is it the 'Mrs.Robinson' scenario?
I am learning alot from listening to the women/men on this Forum. I love flowers, at first I was chuffed but then I thought, if they like my profile, why can't they start up a conversation ? A flower is a lazy way and I agree with Gladliol about the Friend Requests, I stupidly thought they were lonely Asians who maybe needed to improve their English, they are all SCAMMERS As had been said here before, why would somebody who doesnt know you want to be a 'friend' the whole word 'friend' has been distorted and I am amazed that people on Facebook seem to think its a badge of honour to have 1,000 friends or 500 friends. Where would you get the time ? Im thinking that facebook attracts Narcissists, I use it for Animal Welfare issues but have been asked to be friends by people I dont know. I am thinking of coming off. Its nothing but 'you look beautiful' etc., Narcissistic, sorry gone off the subject
I'd like to think I bring some life experience Good/Bad to a relationship and my years [for me] mean I don't take myself too seriously and can laugh at myself. Ive also learnt to see the Red Flags [learnt through pain of course] I love good conversation, craic and again, feel that I have no right to change anyone.... these things are mainly found in the over 50 age group. Desparate ? Well if a woman or man hasnt learnt to live with themselves, if they feel that a perfect relationship is going to make them happy [Happpiness as you all know as coming from within] then its sad. I have 2 friends who are in their late 60s and they are actively and very adamant they are going to meet Mr.Right. I think this smacks of desparation which is not attractive.
I believe, if the Vatican can do it, so can all other institutions . They should be returned. Maybe I am becoming somewhat cynical but arent there alot more serious things going on in the USA? I have alot on my mind but agree, they should be returned to their rightful place. I do believe people need to tidy their own backyards first before making statements about other Countries. I hope they are returned.
Butlers or Lily O'Briens . I like to support Irish chocs. Handmade Belgian.... Champagne, a bubble bath for two with a decentn blend of Aromatherapy oils.... and the rest is none of your business Happy Valentines .
I don't think Selflessness is the key to a loving lasting relationship. Selflessness can be manipulative.Love they neighbour as you love yourself you cannot love another until you have learnt to love yourself. Totally selfless love borders on the Divine and is unconditional love which I have only seen from God [as I believe] and Dogs.
Great posts. Jono are you saying its a form of mindfulness - that you focus on the feeling rather than let thoughts run through your head [painful thoughts] and that on focusin on the body, the pain of losing a loved one goes ? I want to get this one right. 'Practise Meditation daily
Fifi I rent [lost my home in 80s recession] so I have thought of subletting and trying Wexford. I think people are v friendly there. It's like Dublin was 15years ago. Anyway it still takes guts to do it and no procrastinating, and yes, I do make friends easily. Thanks
Thanks ! Yes,I don't have a supportive family network now and am very much alone.. still that's no reason not to chase a dream.I think it's hard to leave that little bit of Security too. To leave a network of friends. Either way, it takes guts and you hear of people in their 60s and 70s going abroad to live and not always financially well off.
Just a quickie [Im really trying to keep posts short, please be patient] regarding public speaking and nerves. I had to do alot at one time. It sounds weird but works.... keep your fingers apart. It effects some part of the brain. Before speaking breathe in thru nose, hold for four seconds, breathe out slowly through mouth for four. I promise it helps. I blush !!
