Overall there is currently a less than 5% risk of dying IF you contract this disease BUT FIRST of course you'd have to contract the virus and the infection rate continues to be very low even in epidemic areas!

The exact percentage risk for any individual depends upon their age and level of health / fitness prior to exposure to the virus ... those in countries with poor or unaffordable healthcare, low immune system strength, poor nutrition and or living in squalid housing or homeless ... like all diseases the risks runs higher!

USA ... given the number of aggravating factors that have been built up since the early eighties ... you might get off lightly if it's only 1 in 20 !

It's serious stuff - not really a time for party politicking or scoring points - like Nero - fiddling while Rome burned

1) It will be impossible to win 'against' the Chinese because their culture, mindset that has developed over many thousands of years understand many things including that 'The head cannot move forward without it brings the body and tail with it'

But the hypocrisy abounds - you alleged 2) That they do not care about others - yet they have invested heavily in under-developed nations WITHOUT creating what Pompous Mick (arguably the world's most prolific liar) calls debt -entrapment. The new silk road initiative has done more in the last ten years to connect and develop the world than 'The West' have done by creating and propogating wars in the last hundred. China has not obliged the recipients of it's aid to provide them with military bases and have not inflicted unruly military populations upon their civilians.

3) We 'should improve our society' ... well, that would likely involve a few people who make a lot of money for themselves out of hijacking governments and corporations, it would mean a return to 'old values ( which incidentally the Chinese, Russians and Indians among others still espouse). It would most certainly involve a necessity for 'self discipline' ( doing what is best for self and community alike) and a degree of 'self responsibility' for one's actions. But, do you imagine the Dutch or the US or any other western nation admitting they got it wrong ?

Best not to try and hold your breath while waiting for THAT to happen !
