Well make sure before you sell it that its either a print or an original....if its a print the frame is probably worth more than the painting But if its an original you could be up to 600 quid in profit.....you dont want to realise further down the road that you sold it for 30 and could have got 300
Born in 1919 in Stockport, Cheshire, Vincent Selby became very interested in music and art at an early age. He studied art at Stockport College and had instruction from notable artists of the 1930 period.
Selby served in the Royal Artillery from 1939 to 1946 and, on his return to civilian life, he was employed in display and interior design as Display Controller for a leading furniture house. In 1973, he became a full-time artist.
Vincent Selby is an English landscape artist with a very distinctive style. His subject material is characteristically well delineated within his paintings. Much of Selby's work is reproduced as prints, always a good indicator of an artists' worth. His original paintings should increase in value over time.
Vincent Selby's original work is widely exhibited and sold in galleries of important art dealers throughout the United Kingdom and the United States of America. He was a member of the Association of Professional Artists and lived in Cheshire."
After rummaging a bit more Rob I have found out that a lot of his paintings have been mass produced, Printed on to a canvas board. Is it definitely an original painting? If its a print it probably is not worth much but if its a painting it could be worth a few bucks but at the moment I dont think from what I can tell so far that its BIG money. Is it on actual canvas or canvas board?
Just done small bit of searching....for some reason I thought it was a recent painter were on about. Ill ask my gf if she has heard of him. Have not found too much on him at the minute but some of the prices for his work seem quite cheap so the evaluation might be correct after all.
Hey Rob, send me a message with details of the painting if you want. Might be able to help or depending on the painter good chance I know people that can help. However a well known known painters work valued at 300-600 quid??? Either not a very good painter or the evaluation is teerible. Being a painter myself know bit about the business.
I do...and I hate it. I had to sign on (means tested) just over 12 months ago for the first time in 9 years. On average for a lot of them nine years my income was probably less than what people were getting on social welfare. I just did not want to sign on. But luckily I have no kids or mortgage to pay so just have to look out for myself.
I agree with you on the above apart from the pay factor. But dont you think that we would then have people who actually genuinely wanted to do the job and the Irish public may have politicians who we can actually respect? My profession is as an Artist. I could have got better paying jobs over the years but i wanted to carry on with my career because I am passionate about what I do. If politicians had a modest income we would no doubt have people who are passionate about politics and welfare and finance willing to do the jobs required. Which you have to agree is what we all want.
Im not on about qualifications...But i understand your point. I have yet to see a course in "how to run a country"... maybe the re invention of FAS will have one
I would really like to get an estimate on this...we are the people and they are there to serve us. Who decides their wages? I know they decide our minimum wage.

Actually I'm being very realistic...look what we have with what we are paying? I'm not saying that these wages have to be set in stone forever. But wouldn't you have more faith in Biffo for example if he said to the Irish population I'm going to reduce my wages and the rest of the ministers and TDs to 50,000 for the next 10 years? Lets say 70,000 across the board just for arguments sake. Now that is a very decent wage....but it also shows that they too are willing to make a sacrifice.
Because the job has to be some way rewarding. It can be a thankless job even when they might be genuinely trying to do the right thing for the country but low enough that the person may actually do it for the want of helping and serving the people and not themselves.
I have been following this thread since the beginning and have a question if anyone is qualified to answer it?
Before i type I am aware that cuts have to be made across the whole of Ireland but....
Just wondering how much the country would save if we capped politicians wages at 50,000 a year for the next 10 years....(lets say they can increase to the % of inflation)....how much would the country save/make back?
Im a toffee man. Once again a slow start to the season. Thank god a lot of teams dropped points. Maybe the yak will get a bit of confidence now an start scoring. great to see Rodwell back on the bench too. Coleman is surely pushing for a place in the irish setup too.
Where the hell do I start? Stubborn, selfish at times, aloof, indifferent, angry, (does short count as a personality trait? given how bitter I am about being short then if it does put that in too), no sense of humour, hate sarcasm, fart a lot....oh and think majority of people are inferior......some on this list may be true.
RE: Dream and what do they mean.
It sounds a bit like sleep paralysis. Have experienced it myself and can be very disturbing.
