that reminds me about an article concerning the communication in couple that i have read some time ago in which the author (a woman claimed that a marriage is in trouble waters when the wife starts to chat with the cat.....
i understand what you're meaning but i still disagree...
to me, what you're calling "sparing" is the arrogance (but i feel this word is too strong, though it somewhat defines the attitude) of the another person that decides what is worth/opportune to tell or not...depriving or doubting about the capacity of the first one..
it is manipulation in my eyes..a sweet kind of it, but still...
and i prefer to deal with persons similar to me...just because it is easier to get along as i don't need to spend my energy in trying to "undercode" what they are actually saying...
but...
we are all different...
there are personalities that are unable to be clear just because they were born in that way...
then, there is also a culture factor...in some cultures, being straightupforward is awkward and inappropriate.
