hold it upside down over the sink and give it a bloody good shake first then try it again and check the lead going into the plug too, usually when toasters are burnt out the don't have a ciruit because the element is broken, yours is shorting, it might not be dead yet.

a lady who lives 200 miles from me sent me a flower and asked me to upload a piccy, I sent her a flower back and said No, she lived too far away, she mailed me and said sorry to burst my buble but she wasn't asking for a date.
