Thank you everyone for contributing to this thread.
I wish you all a HAPPY CHRISTMAS ..... and a very peaceful and enjoyable time.
Looks like I will be in my warm and cosy bed...... I got an horendous dose of flu, with all the coughing, snorting, etc`s that come with walking around at midnite in minus 10 degrees! Dang!..I keep forgetting about how old I am and to stop doing stupid things!
So, my Christmas will be peaceful, I`m gong to be acting like a real old lady, and the family can just bring me some food and leave quietly.
I hope to be fully recoverd by New Year though ..... big plans for THAT weekend!
hi-jacking cars in the search for the perfect auto .......
Those sirens that go off when you open your front door and forget to put in the code within the allotted time and the armed response arrives and arrests you for being in your own house cause you forgot the latest pass-word ......
...... Barking dogs as the little children try to sing Christmas Carols in the streets ......
You enjoy yourself Conrad, get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids ......try to behave yourself with the pretty women ....... well, you dont really have to behave yourself, as long as you enjoy yourself!
Not much of "holidays" .... Christmas on week-end ... same with New Year .....
Ah but, I forgot, my whole life is a holiday, actually ...just that when its Official then I dont feel obliged to "do" things, can just hang on a branch and watch the world go by ... smoking, reading ......playing that stupid Haloween Pumpkins game on here!
Ja, Maisie ........ a stiff drink does wonders! Just wrap it in your knitting and take a sip when the kids are not looking.... Much better to be a laid-back Granny, than an up-tight one!
So .... enjoy yourself hey!
You gonna be off-line there?..... or you taking your laptop with you?
Reminds me of when I spoke no German and I asked my friend at a party what is a "Glockenspiel"? ... She pointed to a lady sitting on a barstool, bum overflowing the sides and said "Dat ist ah Glockenspiel!"
I have a friend who spends the whole year doing her Christmas Shopping.
She has a bag for each friend/family member ... and fills it, slowly, with small little items she finds when and where she happens to be browsing .... Everything is small, usually quite inexpensive, but thoughtful .... things she thinks that person would appreciate.
For instance ..... one person always gets scented candle (for a stress-free bath) .... bath essence (to help the stress).... body lotion (for after stress).....small bottle of wine (to de-stress).....sachet of hair conditioner (for stress-free hair)......emery board for nails (to while away the stress).......
So ....... how do you plan/buy what each person gets?
Chrisys......... I hope you remember to take some photos ..... Before the Big Eat, of the food you prepared .... and then some "action" shots of the day ..huh?
Sausage and Brot ..... the usual Swiss "Take-away"... standing in the street, in the snow, in Zurich ........watching all the wonderfully dressed folk parading around, and the frantic Christmas shopping taking place.
I don`t get to eat much "fast-food" these days .. I got this health fanatic boyfriend guy who takes life far too seriously, like we gonna live forever, or something?
Re-reading your opening post I see the kids are from 6months to to 7 years old.......
The party I was at where they enjoyed those sausage rolls was all pre-school kiddies .... those who could stand (in their nappies!) hung around the coffee table (sausage rolls were for the Mums) ... and poured their cold drink into the dish and ate the sausage rolls soaked in juice! hahaaaaaa.......
Better remove any carpets you got!
Oh, and don`t forget ... a little bit of sliced fresh fruit ... for the Mums on diets.......
Aaahh Chrisy, what a good idea ... you must be a wonderful man!
Ja, I found, when my kids were little, and also these grand-kids of mine ...... they actually enjoy savoury stuff too!
An easy savoury is ...... ordinary beefy sausages, take them out of their skins ..... buy some ready made Puff Pastry ... roll it out, line up long skinny rolls of the sausage meat (maybe crush some garlic into it, the kids I know like it ) ..... cut the pastry in long strips to fold over the meat, then cut into finger sizeable small pieces (mini sausage rolls), and bake at the temp stated on the pastry wrapper.... easy.
You can prepare them the day before, and bake them in the morning... about 15 - 20 mins.
Donta forget the Champagne with Orange Juice for the Mums .. makes them relax while their kids tear your apartment to pieces!
RE: Wedward's III
hahaaaa......... and here was me thinking "Wedward is ill"...... and it`s just Wedward`s numero 3 game of words!
