RE: easter eggs

Has any bright spark thought about "russian doll easer eggs", kinda like a very slightly smaller egg inside a big egg and a slightly smaller egg inside that, working its way to about 6 eggs in all...
Now thats what im talkin about....

Lard....yay....

(you can tell i dont get to eat chocolate much these days!)...

RE: My Dream CAR is...

Lard....heart wings....

Ted....

Soon enough the big movies season will be on us, what trash will we be lining up to see?, well i dunno about you, but i do know that a movie written, produced and directed by "Family Guy" allumini Seth Mc Farlaine has to be worth at least a look....
And what a look, "Ted" is the story of a little boy (Johnny) and his christmas wish fullfillment when his teddy bear (the aforementioned Ted) comes to life....Fast forward 20 or so years and Ted is now a pot smoking, tit grabbing, foul mouthed slacker of a bear reluctant to let Johnny move on with his life and new found love....
I have just copped this today and frankly im sick with laughter, its smutty, purile, offensive and a complete tonic for your inner child....
I dont know and indeed cant remember how to put screens up, but ive put the link up instead....
If you want a laugh this summer, it looks like this could well fit the bill....

Lard....

RE: who is the best guitar player

This is an impossible question to answer...

Weather your addressing technique, feel, attitude or simply wringing the most out of one note, there are a dozen musicians who could fit the bill...

I would shortlist 10 guitarists who have been central to my musical interests and influences....(please dont tell me i dont know what im talking about, this is a personal choice, you will no doubt have a different one, which is by no means "wrong", its just different)..

Robert Fripp....King Crimson...
Tommy Emmanual...Solo....
Al Di'Miola...RTF...
John Pettruci...Dream Theatre....
Frank Zappa....Mothers of Invention....
Allen Holdsworth....Gong / UK / IOU....
Preston Reid....Solo...
Paco Da'Lucia....
Todd Rundgren....Producer / Utopia / Solo....
Jeff Beck....

It would be easy to run a list of 20 greats, and still miss out 20 more, so ill leave it here....

"Iceberg, Iceberg, dead ahead"....

Hi Snowy...

Yeah, the modern one (not counting the most recent Julian Fellows rendering) did have Leo di Caprio in it...
I have to confess, though not a then pre pubescent female teen (the principle 97 titanic fan base demograpic), I really got swept along with the whole drama of it all, just good old fashioned story telling with CG goodies thrown in...
The 1958 film you mentioned (as did i) was more a "document" of the events of that fatefull event...
Though historians will argue over the roll the steamer "Californian" played in the turn of events...
I digress however...On the subject of the film versions, have you seen the 1953 Titanic with Clifton Webb and Barbera Stanwyck, hailed by many as the film JCs version so dearly wanted to become?....

Lard....

"Iceberg, Iceberg, dead ahead"....

So, almost a hundred years later in historic terms and 15 years later in grandiose cinimatic terms, were reunited with Titanic, the monument in Belfast, and the 3D re-imagining of JCs (not the son of god you understand) masterwork...
Me, I loved Camerons film, every bit as much as i enjoyed the 1958 classic "a night to remember", So, whos off to Belfast and whos off to the movies with those "funny glasses"...
Ill be seeing the film without a doubt, not sure about the belfast exibition, the question has been raised, Is the "titanic exhibition" disaster tourism?...
An interesting question which i will allow you to ponder and respond at your leasure...
My view, no its not, if the subject and history are treated with a degree of respect and reverance, still, im just one bloke with an opinion...

RE: So The Aul Household Charge. Why Are You Not paying it

Well, here we are, final day to pay before the "nay payers" become criminals in the eyes of our elected representatives...
Saw this little article pinned to my Yahoo account, thought it might make "obvious" but interesting reading....
Good luck to all the protesters at the meeting in Dub today...

RE: Which music decade is your all time favourite?

Hi Jan....

I may have been a child of the 60s, but i definatly found my music legs in the early to midd 70s...
Some call it the decade that taste forgot, I prefer to think of it as the decade that saw the most eclectic styles of music sharing the chaets...
Certainly ,the music i listened to then became the roots and branches of what im listening to over 30 years later...
That said, I am starting to warm to the 80s...

Ok so, i hope your keeping well and lifes good where you are...

All the very best and fond regards....

LZ....bouquet....

RE: spartacus

(Triumvirat_album)

Now, in saying all this, If anyone can take a healthy shot at remaking this film, as a tv series Sam Raimi is yer man....Or of course, LOTR helmer Peter Jackson! (we wish)...Guess well wait and see...

RE: EARS - The Movies

Hans Zimmer, Possibly one of the finest soundtrack writers in the business...
Check out his work with Lisa Gerrard on Gladiator....
What sets this apart from previous work is the sonic texture used throughout, using classical themes and percussion along with truly impressive and room shaking bass synthesis...(wind this up)
The film and music are a perfect match, but fair to say, The soundtrack works wonderfully as a stand alone piece...

RE: Interesting and strange smells...

I did a top 10 on this last year, so to recap...

The London Underground, circa 1963...
Armani Gio perfume...
Rover p5 saloon cars...

Majestic and passionate, played loud it will scare the cats and kill your speakers...that said, the OST from Inception is amazing as well...
Both Gladiator and Inception soundtracks were written by Hans Zimmer...

RE: Man Goes To Jail Over $1 Robbery

Fascinating story even if its a damning indictment of the american health system...
In Ireland the health service is only partly subsidised, GP visits, drugs and treatments all have to be paid for, and that will continue even after the government has implimented a mandatory health contribution (universal health charge)...
Private health care, while available is costly and there are caviats in place to prevent new conscripts from "using the benefits" before 1 year of membership...
I grew up and lived in England untill I was in my early 40s, and though I didn't have much call to use the NHS, I can attest to its incedible value to a society that inevitably will fall ill from time to time...
Worth watching is Michael Moores documentery "Sicko", a view on healthcare from around the world...
As Im sure its been mentioned, If America spent half as much time looking after the sick and infirm as it does on weapons and wars abroad, it would have a health service that was the envy of the modern world...
Just my opinion you understand...

Regards to you all...

Lard... cheers...

RE: Greatest Album of ALL Time

At a purely personal level, and nothing to do with global sales...

Lamb lies down on Broadway / Genesis...
Brain Salad Surgery / E.L.P...
Larks Tongues in Aspic / King Crimson...
UK / UK...
A / Jethro Tull...
Overnite Sensation / Frank Zappa...
The Green Album / Eddie Jobson...
This Conversation Seems like a Dream / Kip Winger...

All of the above have been played to death and then back to life...
and while they are nowhere near as popular in the way of say a Beatles or a Stones album, they have made there mark on me and my music taste...

Whats YOUR Music?....

Thanks for that Boban...

A terrific mix of rock and folk, putting me in mind of a cross between Dream Theatre and the Gypsy Kings with a little homage to "Stairway to Heaven" thrown in for good measure...

"The day the music died"....

With it being close to the anniversary of the death of Ronnie James Dio Im remembering the Elf / Rainbow / Sabbath frontman and its occured to me there is another guy who deserves a mention on this thread...

The late Kevin Gilbert...(20th November 1966 / 17th may 1996)

Sadly missed..."the light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long"

This song is taken from his posthoumus release "The Shaming of the True"...A masterpiece by any reconing...

You will never be forgotten by those who appreciate your music...

RE: True meaning of "Voluptuous"

Not wanting to syphon off the OP,s thread, but i remember throwing a bloggle about weight just before i crawled back into me hole a while back...

May i indulge you with a fat guys eye on weight management...

..."You are what you iz"...Frank Zappa (1982)...

Food, cant live without it, cant live with it either...
So, just a brief bit about the love and hate affair that still goes on!...
As a kid, 6 years old, I was stick thin, and i have the photos to proove it, there worth keeping for me to look back on and wonder where it went so very wrong, well, not wrong so much as what might have been, had my mother not raised me as my sister had started...The thing is , i dont remember having a love affair with food, it was just food!, nothing fancy, there were not the massive options of edible junk that we have access to today, in fact, the nearest i came to junk food would have been a milky bar. (god, i loved those little fella's)...
Anyway, i digress, somehow, and completely oblivious to me, i was visited by the "fat fairey" in my sleep...One day, beanpole!, and without good reason and inside a timeframe only Einstien could figure out, I became FAT!...Dammit, Thin was good, in so far as i could remember it...I dont mean to blaspheme, but why does a benificent God visit fattness on a good little boy?...Well, we now know the "fat fairey" is just a figment of our imaginations, a bit like the monster under the bed...Its genetics, and biology threw its usual curve ball and guess who got in the way, yep, yours truely...
So, whats this got to do with food?, truth, absolutely nothing at all, I just wanted to let you know i was once very thin, and some day, heaven knows when, you might see some photos of a skinny kid and say, "whos that in the "thunderbirds" hat", ill have to admit, "It was me, and genetics didnt like me"...
At that, you'll probibly give me a hug and tell me, "it will be alright, they can work wonders these days with gastric bypasses"...
But really, who wants to go out for an indian meal and just eat a spoonfull before getting full, while they look across the table and see the other person tucking into a chicken and lobster tikka korhai with keema rice and a kulcha nann...
No more "Mr Rice Guy", I hardly think so!, Im a little bit short for my weight, experts say i should be eleventeen feet tall, they also say, "money cant buy you love"....Or was that the beatles?....
Transmission ends...

All the best...Lard...

And my point being...Frank Zappa was Right!....
