The reason i am asking this is because i have been offered a new venue as a career...a Tribunal Rep (for the housing tribunal)...
Because i have worked within the court system before those that are encouraging me to do this know that i am quite capable of "arguing a point" based on facts...(I don't allow personal feelings to hinder my thought process in law)
However...I do happen to know what kind of "appearance" i have, and i'm wondering how willing would people who's "homes" are at stake here be willing to allow me to represent them....and would they have enough confidence in my ability...
First of all you ARE being what he probably needs right now...no pressure light flirting and a good laugh....If you know about his personal home life...then you have already made "ground" with him, I'm sure he doesn't go around telling everyone his wife left him for another man....
Is there something that you can get tickets to that you can casually mention that you have two tickets for something and would love to have him accompany you...again in a friendly no pressure manner...if not then i would suggest you turn the tables and make him feel YOU need a sympathetic ear instead of you willing to be his and just say to him, you could really use a good friend right now...would he be interested in lunch/dinner this weekend.... but give him a day don't say "sometime"...because remember you need that "friend" now.... Don't choose today (being Valentine) has too much connotation attached to this day...and don't make it a formal affair, again too much like a "date"....
I do not dispute anyone's right to live their life as they see fit...I may not agree with someone taking their own life, or choosing "suicide", but again certainly it is their life and their right to do so...when you meet your maker...you will be standing alone....
There is much to say about the "human will"..it can make you overcome alot of circumstances...the same principal that goes for having the will to live, goes for having the will to die....it does not discriminate...so if a person really does want to find a way to die...they will do it....unassisted if need be...
I still maintain if your are "physically" unable to end your own life...then you are now infringing on the rights of others to assist you in your decision to end yours....
..."The nurse in question should have done her job as a professional and we'll have to see what happens. I wonder if the courts will afford her the same leniency they gave Karla Homolka?"...
I did not take offense to your subject...not at all...but i still stand by my post...
If there are certain groups of people that you think have "special" rights...you better believe someone "beat down the doors of parliament" to have themself heard...and would not stop at "no"...if certain segregations have more priviledges...they fought for those rights.... It is not enough for the "average joe" to say well i tried but i'm being "persecuted" so they back down and sit amongst themselves belabouring the point that they have no rights anymore...
Since you brought up the subject baha...when last did you write to your parliament representative...when last did you attend a town meeting...when last did you demand an answer from YOUR government...? And i'm not saying this to be antagonistic...i'm asking you so that you will question yourself as to how much have you as an individual done to help the cause of the "average joe"....
What people sometimes miss in here (myself included at times) is that this is an opportunity to perhaps make someone see a topic from their point of view...but it can't be done when you are mud slinging...
I don't pretend to have all the answers to life...and you're right Jane when you say this is a world wide web...how awesome is it to get advice or view a subject through the eyes of someone who lives perhaps half way around the world from us...
I will never be to old to stop learning...and i welcome the insight of everyone...
It will be with deep regret for sure for whoever has to mete out discipline to that nurse...
I must say though i am curious to see if someone will "own up" to fathering that child...no doubt for the financial benefits...or will they stay in hiding knowing how the public feels about this woman and the same brush will tar him for having been her lover...
I happen to agree with you...however let me just say that perhaps the "racial" violence and the "gay" violence have people that are more willing to go to bat than..."the average, straight, working class white man in the world" (quoting you here)...and keeping in mind that you are a "woman" (from your profile) terming it as a "man's world"....
To this day i think this is one of the most brutal horrific crimes that i have heard of....
I cannot imagine the pain the victim's families are going through right now...because you're right..the option for their daughters to have children were snatched away, yet she gets to have the freedom to "live" a normal life...AND the public is expected to treat her with some sort of normalcy because she had "done her time"?
That baby is born with "baggage" already....
Karla's family also has to live with the fact that they too lost a child by the hands of their OWN child...and what she did to her sister for the benefit of Paul Bernardo was just as horrifying as what she helped him do to those two school girls...
But you see that's just the point...no "sane" woman would wear such a get up unless she IS comfortable in it...so therefore it stands to reason she DID NOT wear it because it was uncomfortable...and as the OP said..with legs that long...she didn't wear a skirt that short just to keep tugging it down all day!!!
Once again an example of how men and women DO NOT speak the same language...
And by the way...i didn't mean to imply that people don't speak their minds here...but rather i find they "avoid" the topic if its one sure to cause people to choose sides....
Gawd knows i have tried to get people to really say what they are thinking rather than go with the norm....and truly i respect others opinions...
I thought that was what "forums" were all about...to "debate" a topic...to give personal views about a subject without it becoming a personal attack...and believe me after a year on here i usually come into the forums with "full body armour"...
Sure it gets heated sometimes...but that just adds to it...but the "personal attacks" i don't agree with...but would still be willing to chance that to be able to get my point across...
Controversial subjects are just that "controversial"...it does not make anyone right or wrong...
As much as i would like to side with the nurse...and probably secretly do inside...her job in the medical profession is not to pick and choose who she will assist...her job is to provide medical assistant to ALL that walk through those doors to the best of her ability...
I remember this case...I had intimate inside knowledge of this case because I had a family member that worked within the court system during this case....she had to take a 2 year leave of absence after this case to pull herself together....and eventually changed jobs within the government...
I'm just saying this for those who don't know much about the case (if there is such a thing!!) to know the harsh impact it had on people's lives....
Well...lots have been happening... (you'll just have to wait for the book Lil...)
but we are expecting a huge snow storm to hit...and we are bracing for it (rolling eyes around in head here because we are never "ready"...someone always forgot to put the order out for de-icers and snow ploughs!!)
Hamilton is expected to get 55cm - its already started there - and its moving down this way....
I am so going to break a nail cleaning my car off...i just know it...

Just thought i'd add this as well...when the general public reads about the "mass suicide" of organized cults (and that is my own word and not meant to offend anyone)...they dont immediately think "Oh well it was their life..."
They thing "What the hell were they thinking??"..and "how idiotic was that??"
But these people were dying for a cause...one they believed in...but no one really sees it that way at first do they?
I agree Ocee...but what about what Lori said...made alot of sense to me...
First of all...how hard is it for one to commit suicide if they really wanted to...but doing it this very "public" way makes you wonder at what they really want...
And secondly...perhaps as you say it is everyone's given right to choose the course of their life...but then aren't they infringing on the "rights" of doctors who have given their Hippocratic oath and dedicated their own lives to saving the lives of others??...now in their need to conduct the outcome of their life they want others to "compromise" theirs???
I Want To Be Heard....or...Seen...
