RE: Euthanasia

This is an interesting and difficult subject to discuss and you have all made valid points here.

I guess to a degree I was playing Devils advocate but the points I wish to make are that whatever legislative mechanism is invoked to review this and make reccomendations for legislation on the matter be broad, take into account as many situations that could apply to it so that the law made is robust.

I personally couldn't watch any of my family live a prolonged and painful life. But we have to tread carefully and not rush this as was done with so many laws including those for children.

RE: Euthanasia

I beg to differ on this nvosiris, mental illnesses can have physical manifestations such as chemical imbalances within the brain. I think the falsehood that "we hold a part of the cure within ourselves" is not correct. It's not like they're having a bad day or they can just think of happy memories and cure themselves. I would argue that it stays for life. Yes there are things they can do to make their lives better or more manageable but then again that could be said for any illness hence the placebo affect. In many cases, the person does not want to be like that, they choose suicide to end the pain.

Depression is a much more complex beast than some give it credit for.

RE: facebook

You know what? I was going to say something along the kines of "You'll always get a chancer etc etc" but I've decided to go with "Life is too short, sometimes you have to be spontaneous and just go for it. Who know what path love takes but at the very least you might have a little fun." grin

RE: Dream job?

RE: Dream job?

Being a guard is a tough job at times but it can also be rewarding. I don't know what the current scéal is surrounding the intake for 2011 but sure why not check it out?

RE: Dream job?

I lead an international manhunt

We didn't know that at the time. We had a number of hours to react and we did. Thank God it turned out that way.

No, they're not going to prosecute they kid, of course not and no need to. I was merely commenting on the DPP in Ireland if he had a case before him.

This kid is getting the proper help he needs not a prosecution. If he had a gun and weapons it would be a different story. To clear the issue: he had NO weapons.

I lead an international manhunt

Btw in 4 hours we had officers at his door, that was prettydamn good if you ask me. If your life or your children's lives were in danger, then maybe you'd be more grateful.

Th threat was narrowed down to a single locality from the entire planet in minutes, from all the schools in the world. No mean feat for a guy in his living room without police resources. The guards themselves were helpless to track it and it would have propably been to late if they had to report this to the US authorities via interpol and then track it from there.

As it was we also had to report it in two different countries and prove to them this was real and not a hoax.

Dunblane was the thing that stuck in my mind on Monday morning. It was 2am and we were running out of time. I made a call and I think I did the right thing considering.

I'm glad it turned out not to be a real threat but it could have been had he access to the weapons, he certainly had the money.

He'll get the help he needs now and either way we may have saved a life.

Primula, the DPP will prosecute if laws are deemed to be broken and if there is sufficient evidence, it does not matter the amount of workload he has.

I lead an international manhunt

Well Primula, we didn't know it was a 14 year old kid and that the threat wasn't real. We decidedd amongst ourselves to go ahead and report it. Tracing him gave us more information to give to the police, remember, we had only hours before school started.

And as previously pointed out here by me to you, what you saty online can be given as evidence regardless of whether you meant it or not. I feel sorry for the kid, I really do but surley it was better not to take the chance. If he had carried out his threat, we all could have been liable for not reporting it.

When he posted that, he took the choice out of our hands, we then became legally obligated to do something.

Silent you say? Hmmm confused

hey long time no see!

I lead an international manhunt

He's going to get help but I hope the school does something for the bullying. Since the article came out, i'm sure it's impossible for him to even go to school. It seems this is going viral now.

yes, I tracked it through the IP address and the path the packets of data was travelling across the internet. With MAC addresses this can be verified that the computer that is originating the traffic is the actual machine you're looking for.

It's a bit like CSI where you peel back the layers and find the bones of what you're looking for.

I lead an international manhunt

Yep and to correct my typo *guards

I lead an international manhunt

It took a lot of hard work and the poor guards nearly fell over when I told them to contact interpol and get me the most senior guard on duty off his break.

I had six duards in my house as I explained how I tracked him and none of them had a clue. I'm on their good list now though.

I lead an international manhunt

Hopefully those bullies get their comeuppance and the kids gets help.

I lead an international manhunt

Well tracking people and what they say online isn't that hard.

Well, this is what I got up to this weekend.
