During that same time, people would have been embarrassed and ashamed to even ask for help from the government. Now for a lot of people it has become a way of life. I read an interesting article a few years ago about the housing "projects" and why the government wanted to keep them. If the government can keep all the people on welfare in these projects, no one will get the incentive to get a job. If someone down on their luck was forced into the projects and tried to get a job and better themselves, the rest of the neighborhood ridiculed that person until they stopped trying.
It is a shame that after watching the lunacy of the people after Katrina, and the sheer ignorance of some of our "celebrities", the american people still haven't figured it out.
A socialist believes in the equal distribution of wealth. A socialist is also an atheist. A socialist believes that there is no higher power than the government. The problem with socialism is that it destroys incentive. If I am going to make the same amount as you, or receive the same benefits, where is the incentive to do anymore than the bare minimum in order to get by?
I'm sure everyone would like to see those things. They only want to see these things as long as it costs them nothing. Far too many people today are so self-centered that they won't even sacrifice for their children.
The new motto of the American people is, "Ask not what I can do for my country. Ask what can my country do for me."
I ended up having to put my grandmother into assisted living. It wasn't an easy choice, however it turned out to be the right one for her. She made some wonderful friends there and I almost always made sure I got in on the weekends to take her out for a day. I was fortunate that the home she ended up in was filled with love by patients and staff. The ironic part of it is that this particular home was classified as a welfare home.
You sound like a kid in a candy store. Nothing wrong with that. You are just looking at the moment. Until you choose one, there is nothing to feel weird about.
How will you know which one is best for you if you only focus on one?
In my past, if I "fell" in love with someone, it was almost always with a person that wasn't healthy for me. I would like to think that as I become a healthier person, I could have some say in who I choose to love. I don't know if it will work like that or not.
I believe that a lot of people can choose. It just hasn't worked for me that way so far.
I kept the right ones out And let the wrong ones in Had an angel of mercy to see me through all of my sins There were times in my life When I was going insane Trying to walk through the pain.
Then I lost my grip And I hit the floor Well I wanted to leave but couldn't get out the door I was so sick and tired Of living a lie I was wishing that I would die
It's amazing In the blink of an eye you finally see the light It's amazing When the moment arrives then you know you'll be alright It's amazing And I'm saying a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
One last shot at a permanent vacation Well how high can you fly with broken wings Life's a journey, not a destination And you just can't tell just what tomorrow will bring
You've got to learn to crawl Before you learn to walk Well I just couldn't listen to all that righteous talk I was out on the streets Just trying to survive Scratching to stay alive
It's amazing In the blink of an eye you finally see the light It's amazing When the moment arrives then you know you'll be alright It's amazing And I'm saying a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
From all of us in Aerosmith to all of you Remember, the light at the end of the tunnel may be you.
