As soon as Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals met so many million years ago, the die was cast. Mistrust and xenophobia was born. It's been a natural progression ever since. We are doomed.
I do believe that we have about 5 years left before the world as we know it collapses. The Canary in the coal mine died years ago but everyone is in denial.
Basically, mother earth needs a break to rejuvenate, and in order to do so she has to get rid of all her diseases, us humans. Planet earth would be paradise without us.
Einstein said that after the 3'rd world war, all wars would be fought with sticks and stones. He was assuming that there would be a nuclear holocaust. He was so wrong. Our world is being destroyed piece meal, bomb by bomb, Spain, India, NYC., etc., and all in the name of a god and ideology. We are in the midst of the 3rd world war.
I believe that if a universal poll could be taken, there'd be more hate than love within this world. Blind and misguided hate. Actually any hate is misguided. Why do so many hate ? Some hate is reactionary and may be understood within the context of the situation, but hate right now seems to have become a "raison d'etre".
Much of this film was ad libbed, and several dozen hours of footage were shot before Reiner edited it down to the released film. A 4½ hour bootleg version of the film exists and has been traded among fans and collectors for years.
I fear with the escalating extremist attacks and fuel prices, this old world as we know it will not sustain a normality that we can recognize within a few years.
I sit here by candle light, grazing on the threads from near and far. Some are juvenile, some are thoughtful. So many beatiful women and men reaching out to a wish that may never come true. But within the threads there is a common bond; a desire and need for love. Love is the only emotion that counts. Rich or poor, love wins.
There are those on this site that equate love with success; ex. I married a lawyer, I spend my time shopping. I never see him, he's so busy, but I love my American Express card.
