I think that every parent should encourage their children to marry once they have left high school, just to get the first marriage over with. It's all practice. The stat's say that 54% of first marriages fail anyway. So let them get it out of the way at a young age. We tend to marry at about 28, it usually fails. So, why waste all that time dating, searching, and without any real experience ?
Of course I write this with tongue in cheek, but it does have some validity.
Life is so damn tentative; an acquaintance of mine was diagnosed with cancer 16 weeks ago. He has about a week to live . He has 3 children, 8, 9, and 14 years old, and here I am moaning about my daughter's tooth.
Funny how life goes. There was a time when my daughter and I travelled throughout Mexico and Costa Rica for 6 months. Money was not an object, then life suddenly took a left turn, the wrong way on a one way street.
My daughter, just out of college and struggling, broke a tooth yesterday. It needs a crown, $1200.00. She can't afford it, nor can I. I feel so devastated and ashamed, that my life ended up at this situation, where I can't help out my daughter for such a basic need. The best I could do was call the University of Toronto, their dentistry students need people to practice on. They can do the job for half the price.
I'm sure that there are others on this site that share my frustration. I feel so bad.
Unfortunately, people seem to be attracted to the packaging, as an item in a classy container on a store shelf; it sells. For many different reasons, as we grow older, we tend to understand that what's in the fancy container may not be worth the price. We then attempt to bargain hunt, looking for that discounted diamond or re-packaged goody at half off.
that every other week some older celebrity dies, and the average age is 72. Now that scares me. I'm 62 and we all know how fast 10 years fly by, especially if you're over 40.
What should I do with my last 10 years ? Find religion, attempt to marry someone from CS, trace my roots back to France and Ireland ? Rob a few banks, they'll give me 10 years for that. Free room and board in my local penitentiary....hey, they have a library, the food can't be worse than my own cooking...... or you can invite me to your place if you're into long term palliative care. Oh come on, you'll enjoy my company.
Ya this is all about me. I left CS a while go because I said all I had to say about this world that we live in, and we within this world, however we perceive it. A CS friend talked me into joining again. I'm glad she made the effort. In leaving the site, I left friends, people that made a difference in my life. Thank you, thank you all.
I have to admit that the people I've met here have enriched my life and continue to do so. I thank you for this.
The so-called real world and the cyber world are one and the same, just as the invention of the telephone brought people closer together, CS is doing the same.
The worst feeling one can have.
You are right on a logical level. Thanks for that. I'm just stuck on an emotional level. Pawsy
